@@roysanchez5020 Ortiz is like Canibus. Makes great mixtapes, cyphers, and feats, but albums are so so. Battle rapping doesn't always translate to good albums. Hence Canibus. Crazy lyrics and punchlines, but meh albums and music. Few battle rappers have put out dope albums. Jadakiss is one, Beanie Sigel is another. Big L, Big Daddy Kane. Fabolous is an honorable mention. Just what I can recall off the dome at the moment.
The beat, the lyrics, the flow, the voice. It’s one of those songs you’re just like “ohhhh shit!! This is fire!” This randomly came up on my Spotify during my run and I was like “yoooo 🤯🤯wtf is this??!!!”. I put it on repeat the rest of the run. It’s one of those perfect songs where you hear the beat and are scared the rapper/singer is gonna ruin it but he did it total justice
"One day the whole globe will know im Clark Kent. Underneath the shades on a project park bench. Superman when i grip the mic, the only way im slowing down is if i blow a pound of Kryptonite" .....speechless.
After 10 years and 100s of clicks I'm still getting a kick seeing the "Brooklyn" part of my graffiti (hip hop) in this song at 0:28. I made one painting in brooklyn and it ended up here. Thank you Hip Hop.
Hello there, I'm wondering if you would like to give my music a try for free...The link to my latest song is as follows... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a6m_Y80asrE.html
You only get quite a few songs in hip hop that make you sit back and say what did I just listen to? Then you find yourself listening to it the rest of the night nonstop.. This is one of them!!!! These bars are nothing to play.. NY should be proud
"Quella dell'empatia, della pelle d'oca, quando ci metto la voce sopra alzi il volume e prendi quota" ogni tanto per sta frase mi vengono i brividi e mi fa ricordare quanto cazzo era geniale gem :)
This song was made to sound all badass and hood but its so emotional to me. Gives me images of a truly great rapper finding himself in an era that does not understand his art. For me this is one of the greatest ever songs.
This will be remembered like jadas “who shot ya freestyle” a timeless classic. Even today very few songs come close to this……. Fully naked with my balls wet”
When I heard this song for the first time I was blown away. Still one of the best Hip-Hop songs ever. It has it all. Beat, rhymes, punchlines, delivery... Everything is top notch.
Nothing new here. This song is still nuts years after the first time I heard it. Joell remains a lyrical beast who is overlooked. This man is so underrated it's a shame. His bars are so consistent, while your catching what he said, you miss the next slick shit he's about to say. Then you gotta rewind. hahahaha I remember them days. Back when emcees had so many bars you couldn't help but play it over and over to relive the slick talk. #respect to Mr. Ortiz
Joell was def a refresher in a time when the industry had given up. He took it back to the early 90's, when every other banger on the radio was from a future legend. His punchlines were bonkers. I liken them to like a Pun, or Big L, Canibus. These dudes always had me having to rewind.
Joell Ortiz was interviewed for the book series *HOW TO RAP* and *HOW TO RAP2*, and shared his rapping techniques. Here he talks about giving people what they paid for. "If you have a shitty show and a hit record, you’re fucked- when people spend their money, they want a fucking show. If you calling yourself an MC, you better be prepared to give those people what they paid for."
Anche stamattina mi sveglio da solo Ormai è un pò tu ti chiedi come mi consolo Loro non servono a me se io non servo a loro Metto il primo pezzo che trovo l'accendo e prendo il volo
He said if you put him in a battle with these other "top MC's" he bets that he will be the one with his arm in the air (VICTORY pose) like the pic of Che Gueverra!!
