Legions of knights waited for the monsters to arrive in force. It would be their last stand but the future of their kingdom relied on them. The grandmaster of the order patiently weighted for the goblins and trolls to pour through the mountain pass. letting their numbers flood towards them like a river. Then his hand reached high and signalled the archers to loose their missiles onto the great enemy. Volley-after-volley rained down on the enemy but after the third, the ranged troops ceased before the grandmaster lowered his visor as he drew his sword. "Close ranks!" Many of the men-at-arms and knights did as their commander ordered, knowing full well that the battle was at hand. The rocky terrain allowed the goblins and trolls to become disorganized in their descent. However, he would greet them with steel and blood before they had the chance to reorganize themselves. His sword reached out towards the enemy before the massive army marched towards their foe. It began as a march with captains and lords ordering their troops to maintain their formations and keep up with the rest of the army. He looked to the his left flank to see the mounted knights expressing their impatience but they knew their role into the battle - only come when the infantry have clashed against their forces. The two armies closed the distance as the commander saw the whites of their eyes and desire for his kingdom's destruction. Now it was time. "Charge!" Rip and tear until it is done.
