@@Gorsky69 The entire armed forces of Ukraine currently consist of almost a million people - 650 people is not even a drop. The Ukrainians are in a better situation because they defend in fortified positions where lack of training is less likely to end tragically. The Ukrainians were in a mess, but they withdrew from their position without any losses, and what happened to the attacking Russians who had no cover? They probably didn't gain this position without losses, and if they were unlucky and the MG3 worked, they would have been massacred.
@@veritaspk Dude, Ukrainian border guards undergo military training in Britain all the time, as well as joint exercises . More than 15,000 Ukrainians have received military training in Britain. i have alot of experince with the MG3 family. That if not handled with preventive maintenace, is easy to have issues and jamming. The main understand required is mainly to consider every item in the lock as a replacable wear part. the extractor spring shall be replaced every 2000 shots, a easy way to evaluate it is by trying to push the extractor down with the thumb nail, if you can even move it, it shall be replaced. the extractor abit more but shall be often be replaced. most other parts as the ejector plade and firing pin (must be perfect round on front end) abit more shots but even small amounts of wear on the edge request replacement. other main issue is not completly clean and lubricated front pibe bearing. if thies parts have been replaced and rest is clean and oiled and it still jams, replace main lock spring and lock head. and i have never had and MG3 that dont run smooth and reliably after all thies tricks, and i fixed MG3 in firing postions like this alot of time and on alot of different weapons (10 years over live fire training/exercises/afghan). the standard gunner kit contains all the abouve listed items for a reason.
@@pq2015 yee its not a mandatory switch at that point, surely it can go longer and deffently would not worrie while in a fire figth. When using a compass and map, you need to know where you are and where you want to go. You can fix your present location on the map by sighting two known landscape features on the map and then know the compass direction to your destination. Asking for "geo location" for a withdrawal only after you have to retreat is an odd "strategy".. you would think long before any battle takes place you would have dozens of paths for escape, whilst at the same time have a forward reconnaissance unit (a camera) at least a kilometer from your trench.. on top of that have ALL your equipment checked DAILY so it is ready to fire immediately.. and last, have plenty of boobie-traps ready in case your trench is overran, so that if you have to retreat, you could arm various explosives around your trench, making enemy progress extremely slow.. and not sure how these guys weren't able to ask for immediate artillery/drone support, or at the VERY least draw some reserves, maybe even an AFV..
I believe things like what we see in this video, are the reason the Ukrainian commander of this direction got removed from his post. ^^ Such severe under-training is far from widespread.
@@elektrotehnik94 lets hope so.. although tbh I've seen similar mishaps in other positions.. lack of situational awareness.. not having gaps of at least few meters between soldiers to avoid mass-casualties, neither in trenches, nor whilst moving.. lax approach towards constantly surveying surroundings for enemy movement and possible secretive approaches.. I can understand that after months and months of seemingly unchanging situation soldiers tend to "relax" and get "comfortable" within their surroundings.. BUT, I think it is commander's job to make sure that your troops are ALWAYS ready, regardless of how "calm" it may seem.. I mean for all you know your enemy might be digging a tunnel under you and placing tons of explosives, or secretly and slowly putting snipers within their firing positions.. and all that because you were "relaxed" and didn't think constant surveillance was necessary.. Oh, and another strange phenomena I noticed was that during intensive firefight no one, and I mean NO ONE is even trying to spot an enemy.. both sides just firing away to what they think are "enemy positions".. usually grenades are the actual thing that injures or kills the most troops.. you would think that in ANY combat you would want to have few things.. number one, an overhead surveillance drone, or even two, that would relay EXACT position of the enemy, as well as any armor (tanks, etc) and enemy strength in general.. after drones I would definitely want a close-by mortar team, and depending on terrain, at least one sniper team.. these two assets could potentially suppress any overwhelming enemy force, or enemy's attempts at "breakthrough".. Anyways, lets hope Ukrainian warriors can continue to show bravery and fight valiantly.. lets face it, even the most "professional" armies in the world can make mistakes.. and tbh it is easy for us to talk about this stuff from the safety and comfort of our homes.. I'm quite certain that it is EXTREMELY different situation when you have to dodge artillery, drones and bullets in the heat of the battle.. SLAVA UKRAINI..!!!
