I personally like the Merry & Pippin commanders over Frodo and Sam in the food deck. I think what they do is a bit more fun. Merry, Warden of Isengard (Partner with Pippin, Warden of Isengard) says "Whenever one or more artifacts enter the battlefield under your control, create a 1/1 white Soldier creature token with lifelink. This ability triggers only once each turn." and Pippin, Warden of Isengard (Partner with Merry, Warden of Isengard) says: 1 & tap: create a food token & tap:, Sacrifice 4 foods: other creatures you contrl get +3/+3 and gain haste until end of turn. activate only as a sorcery"

The big sell for me is that Sam reduces the cost of food activation and Frodo draws cards. I do see where you’re coming from tho; M&P are a bit more exciting

I see more advantage in Frodo and Sam due to the fact that Frodo draws a lot of cards and Sam always generates life every turn. M and P end up being easy prey for a Mass removal without as much card draw.

I (Lua) still play with the Sam and Frodo precon! Can’t speak for everyone else but I also use a lot of cards from these for my Aragorn deck too :) they’ve been great to play together

@@scrybabies The Food and Fellowship deck is awesome 😊 Aragorn is extremely strong. This is nice to hear, thank you. I've been working on the Anowon precon for awhile, finally got tinybones for it- took a really long time to find a trade to get it lol. I've picked up a lot of precons over the last few years and am always curious to see which ones stand the test of time. My local community doesn't play with precons very often. But this weeks casual night I'll be bringing Anowon in all its silly milly glory. Next week I would like to bring Frodo and Sam. It's nice to know that the "keep current to the product hype train" isn't making everything get stuck on shelves to get all dusty. ❤️

LOTR spoilers Re: Frodo having B in his color identity - by the end of their journey, Frodo had borne the ring for longer than anyone in Middle-Earth save Bilbo, Gollum, and Sauron - who, I also note, have black in their color identities. His perceptions and mind were being influenced by the Ring, and at the climactic moment in Mount Doom, he failed to give up the Ring and took it for himself. That corruption earns you a B in my book.
