Battle for the Planet of the Apes Figures Rights 

In scholl in the early eighties (2nd grade I think itches) during the last week while older kids had finals, they played all five of these over a two day span in the auditorium on the reel projector. The latter ones were pretty trippy. They also ran on the local channels that did not have a big network affiliate (usually the same ones that would play cartoons after school). Only toys I remember were mego figures my babysitter’s brother had.

I had that Remco Universal monsters set that came with the playset carrying case. It was pretty cool.

That stunt cycle makes me so happy.

I had nearly all of the memo POTA dolls. I also had lots of AHI stuff back then. I loved the parachute figures!!

I'm loving the current repro Mego POTA figures. Never had any as a kid because I was into GI Joe and Big Jim during the Mego POTA heyday. But I have them now! POTA and Star Trek are my favorite Megos and remain must-haves with the repro lines.

Action Apeman is a very catchy name!

I grew up in this era and saw none of this on the toy shelves. Knock off or actual Mego Planet Of The Apes figures. Watched all the movies but all I saw was t shirts and coloring books.

I think AHI's versions had better head sculpt accuracies. Such a shame they and Mego couldn't both put out official POTA figures and let the public decide.

Every time I watch these kinds of videos you make I go right to eBay and look to see if I can find them and the prices lol great video ! Did not know action ape man even existed !

I was a Planet of the Apes fanatic when I was a kid. I only had the Dr. Zaius action figure. I don't know why I picked that one. I can remember wanting the action figure playsets, but I never got one.

In 1974 I was having a birthday party and asked each friend to get me a different APE figure from the MEGO line. It worked like a charm because they were about $3.49 / $3.99 per figure and their moms would not have to be spending a lot. I got the whole set in one day !!!!! I then asked my parents for the Treehouse. Wow was that tree house the cheapest piece of crap . Splits and breaks and bends and rips , P.S. It did Not even look good. It looked like something that lifeguards at a beach would hang out in and play cards because cell phones were not invented yet. P.S. I was a GEEK Pioneer; I was in 7th grade and "too old for toys". LOL BUT I did NOT CARE !!!!!! I have a feeling a LOT of you Star Wars bros were too old for toys in 1979 at the big STAR WARS explosion . But got them anyway.
