All these years and I’m surprised they still haven’t made a GOW about the Pendulum Wars when this conflict was going for like 7 decades if I’m not mistaken
Yes that would be cool I'm excited to play that kind of Gears game and also maybe make another gears where The first appearance of the locus Right after the war
It could be set in the one of last battles of Pendulum War, like Battle of Bonbourg or the assault of Furlin Republic, and then the game can take players fast forward to the early days of E-Day and fight the Locsut through UIR's perspective. IIRC, member and former member states of UIR were the first to be attacked by Locust. I woudl like to see the last stand of Ostri and Pelles Republic and the exodus of Gorasni.
I like that throughout these missions you play as nameless, random soldiers who end up dying, it add to the impact and is way cooler than playing as any main character imo
It feels weird seeing Hoffman, Cole, and Sam visibly aged. I’ve played the first three games since their release and with each title came their own experience. First game I was in junior high, second I was finishing junior high, and the third I was nearing the end of high school. So much was going on both in the games and my personal life that I feel like I’m old when I realize the fourth game was in 2016. And during that time, that’s a year after graduating college and I’m starting work at my second job. Crazy!
@@OMGtheykilledKenny42 I mean, it's also a chance to introduce weapons that never saw the locust wars due to being discontinued. Chainsaw lancers are more so associated with the locust war anyway
@@jacobcoleman Yeah you are right. Though thinking back i am certain there were other commandos along with Dom that weren't just standard background Gears. Think one of their names was Bak Tai or something along those lines.
@@Burning-Twilight You mean Tai Kaliso right? The badass native who survived almost everything except being tortured n processed by Skorge. Who's torture n processing made him kill him self.
I really wish that they would make a gears of war game based on the pendulum wars. Personally I think it would make them a lot of money. At least we could get a gears of war that’s played from the UIR POV, perhaps from the experiences of one major garron paduk?
The Pendulum Wars is one of many parts in the Gears of War lore that hasn’t been explored other than the comics and novels. Hope Rob and the Coalition Studio would one day make a prequel that is set in events before Emergency Day, Gears of War: Judgement, and the first Gears of War. Sera have been under a 90 year war in combining with two conflicts this planet had for so long.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this series lately. I’d love a gears game that is more like battlefield 1: with several mini co op campaigns telling multiple stories from all across the gears time line. Pendulum wars, e day, v day, the hollow, hell even some UIR stories; you can add more stories over time and have a half way decent horde mode and maybe even horde map editor and you’re good to go. Highly monetizeable gears game for years to come.
@@sorcererberoll4641 I just... I just want to jump into a time machine and experience those first 3 games again. They can call me being biased for the nostalgia.. but if it wasnt for the new coat of paint the new games have.. from a character and story stand point .. can they REALLY say gears 4 and 5 was a step forward? They just felt weird and I honestly couldnt force myself to care about those games. It was more of me sitting there watching marcus and the old squad wither away.
I hate how this is portrayed quite differently in GoW4 in contrast to the description of Aspho Fields and the Op Leveler's operational objectives, intended execution as well as supporting details in the book. Must have been Hoffman's misremembrance. Edit: Feb/23/2024 I re-read the book and will give props for them sticking to some details like the geographic authenticity of Aspho Point as described in the book (found along the coastline, pg. 143; though it shouldn't be as fortified as portrayed here, pg. 204), and some mentions of characters like the bot Bruce (pg. 204), and returning callsigns such as "Cleaner" (also pg. 204), but still downplayed most of what made Leveler in the book so great. Basically an abridged version with changes and a lot of character omissions (Pesangas, the scientists being extracted, and so forth). And the fact that Carlos's sacrifice was never even shown here is just a disrespect to the character, considering how his death reshaped what "bridges" mean to Hoffman (pg. 184). I do believe that they got Karen Traviss involved here, with some details here and there being retained, but largely had to modify Op Leveler's details to suit the more action-oriented audience.
That would be because the Coalition Developer is to Gears of War what 343 is to Halo.. I almost hope they kill the series rather than shit on us with another disappointment that feels like Fortnite
Agreed. Should have come in and gone out on the boats and had a stealth mission as Dom but also had a mission with Carlos and Markus in the Field with Markus witnessing Carlos's death. If they ran the missions like the novels. with Mataki and LT Stroud. Would have been an unreal start to the game.
Y'all are expecting way too much out of an anthology intro that puts you through three different scenarios in like 45 minutes. Maybe if the whole intro was about the Pendulum Wars they could have done all that, but they gave us a little taste because they had the whole rest of the game to create too, lol.
If coalition ever makes a game based off of the pendulum wars...holy shit that would be awesome. The Title...Pendulum Gears Of War. Free title coalition there ya go. Being Hoffman, Dom, Marcus, Dizzy and Paduk with his crew of Uri's . That'd be epic and crazy for a game in the gears lore.
@@OrokkGaming Hell yeah the Pesanga commandos are badass, damn shame Bai Tak was lost during Leveler, he'd have been a grub killer just like Clay and Tai ez
@@youngshonshon I liked 4 and 5 a lot. I have so much time played on both games. I’m still playing gears 5 till this day lol. I say yikes cause from a story point of view it must of been confusing. But yeah the OG trilogy is written way better. But I’m glad a new audience can enjoy gears anyway.
so weird to see you shooting locust and seeing copious amounts of blood and gore. that was the franchise's whole brand and uniqueness when it first came out
No that was Dom. Dom played a big role in Operation Leveler (the hammer of dawn raid) and was awarded the Embry Star for his valor. Carlos was with Marcus at the time. And yes, he was KIA during the battle. :(
I don't remember seeing this at all in GOW 4, I'm honestly shocked. I wouldn't of noticed until I started playing the first one again the other day. Thanks for upload.
Here me out, new gears trilogy, where the second game hints at the locust, and the third game as your fighting the locust appear and the game ends on E-Day.
The third wont work because there was a few weeks difference between emergence day and the victory of COG vs the UIR, so they wont be fighting anymore.
Just like with Halo, after Gears had such a cathartic and lovely ending that wrapped everything up, rather than some new company butchering that they should’ve just focused on prequels or other stories set during the time of the main trilogies. Seriously the pendulum wars were almost 80 years long and the locust war almost 20 and the human covenant war was 30 years but no we’re going to ruin those beautiful endings and make sequels that are inferior in every way to originals aside from graphics. Shame what happened to these 2 legendary franchises. They share so many parallels for better or for worse.
In the book Dom does a helicopter insertion into the ocean then they ride a rhib to shore. The actual battle doesn't start until after they get the plans and find out that the hammer plans are backed up at another location. The commando shit is pretty cool. Good read.
I recommend you play all the gears 1 campaign in insane difficulty with the longshot and you will feel the others gears like a friv game and more judgerment judgement is like a army of two the devils cartel.

This is more what I had in mind for any sort of prequel Gears game but E-Day isn't a bad option either. I do hope we eventually get a deeper hands-on experience with the Pendulum Wars era though It was pretty cool to get to play as just some nameless Gears, at least.
You know, I may not be a fan of Gears of Wars 4 - I never finished the game - but I did love this opening sequence. I cared more about playing as random soldiers in the flashback sequence, than I did playing the main story 😅.
This woulda been cool and all but it’s missing marcus, carmines first words to marcus in the first game was “are you the marcus fenix? The one that fought at aspho fields?” But we get his partner cmonnnnn lol
I saw that last ticker tape news blurb. "Funds for Space Exploration Program reduced." That might be a mistake considering the planet is steadily turning inhospitable.
The Coalition royally fucked up the Gears of War canon with this prologue. This is completey inaccurate to the books that go into great detail on these events. I wouldn't even be surprised if they never even read the original 5 Karen Traviss Gears novels.. Which is so unfortunate considering how incredibly well written those novels were. Unfortunately, the Coalition is to Gears of War what 343 is to Halo.. I almost hope they kill the series rather than shit on us with another disappointment that feels like Apex had an incestuous failed abortion with Fortnite & Back 4 Blood #BringBack #CliffyB
That's really unfortunate. I only played the first level of Gears 3 with a buddy as a young teen, and now I'm trying to get into the franchise (I've gotten a bit burned out on Halo and Star Wars due to their crazy fan communities). I'm currently reading Traviss' "The Slab" (which from what I understand is a prequel), then I'm planning on playing Gears 1, 2, and 3 cuz I thrifted them all for a few bucks. In what order would you recommend that I read the other Traviss books? The Gears timeline has been pretty confusing to me so far...
Why don't they do a series of the Gears of War pendulum Wars that's been talked about since the first Gears of War it can be like the prequels to the Gears of War that we know handheld Marcus and Done and all them came together as we know them today. Using the unreal engine 5 to do it all in. I hope I got Marcus's brother's name right??

I dont know why this scene bugs me so much; I read aspho field when it first came out and this is nothing like that. Might be the purist in me but either way I appreciate what they did with this.
A COG vs UIR multiplayer mode would be cool with the option to play against Locust like what everyone wants, maybe a 5 v 5 v 5 or something like that Locust COG & UIR I highly doubt that one but they could do something like that, like how battlefield V has a Pacific theater game mode, instead of fighting white National Socialist your fighting Yellow Nationalists.. hahaha! Just thought I'd explain how something could be implemented if they wanted to please both the original fans and the fans who loved the idea of fighting the UIR in one game.
