This one was really awesome! Well edited, well performed, showed the chaos of ship combat in the ancient era. And I loved the editing near the end with the text and the troll ending hahaha

Dude, your videos are awesome as always. I'd just want to renew a suggestion I gave you some time ago, though: to remove projectile tracers from the options, so that it looks more realistic. They're just a gameplay feature which is not needed for a cinematic. That said, keep up the good work, mate.

Majorian. The last West Roman Emperor worthy of the title of Augustus. If he could have retaken Africa with its wealth and grain supply, the western empire might have held together longer. History could have been completely rewritten!

The power of Rome was waning. One could smell the rot especially from Germania. They swooped down like vultures to pick at the carcass. A hundred years earlier the Romans would have crushed them

Vandals was a barbarian tribe ?
@mattaffenit9898
@mattaffenit9898 6 лет назад
Marcus Mgodioso No, they're a Germanic tribe - at this point a major kingdom. Barbarian was a blanket term used to describe everyone not deemed to be Romano-Hellenic enough, including the Sassanids, the Brythonic and Goidaelic peoples of Britannia, the Germanic peoples rampaging across mainland Europe, the Slavic peoples, the Huns (and other Uralic speakers), the Basques, north African natives (besides Aegyptus), Semitic peoples, and a few dozen other groups that I can't be bothered to list.

Question: Were the Vandals still under the rule of King Geiserich at this time? Or had he already died by now?

You mean 461 AD
@mattaffenit9898
@mattaffenit9898 6 лет назад
Crocodile Kladas No, he means CE. I think you're both stupid and should use BP (Before Present - modern archaeologists scale things back from 1950-ish when radiocarbon dating was invented), but that's because I'm a complete nerd who likes to screw with both sides of an argument.
@PRAEFECTVSMAGNVSXXXIII
@PRAEFECTVSMAGNVSXXXIII 6 лет назад
Basically the only stupid here is you and the right is to use BC and AD now go and eat your breakfast
@mattaffenit9898
@mattaffenit9898 6 лет назад
Crocodile Kladas Oooh. Look at you, trying to force someone to conform to a standard set by your religion. Unfortunately for you, I am of the old ways, and I don't care in the slightest about your opinion. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll keep using BP, because that's what people who actually work with and around historical cultures use.
@mattaffenit9898
@mattaffenit9898 6 лет назад
Crocodile Kladas Oh, and learn how grammar works, pleb. It's called a period. You should use it.

I'm not a huge fan of the Roman models in that game. They do not have oval shields in that time period.

@christophergonzales563
@christophergonzales563 6 лет назад
Marcus Mgodioso yes. There are almost no video games that have it right. Only the Roman Auxiliaries had oval shields in that time period.

This is Western Roman Empire, few years before it fell. They did not use Scutum anymore during that time.
@mattaffenit9898
@mattaffenit9898 6 лет назад
Christopher Gonzales In the mid 5th century? *Yes they fucking did.* The classic rectangular Imperial scutum of the Principatus era saw peak use in the Dacian Wars, and slowly declined until the late 3rd-early 4th century. The cetratus was the shield of the day - an auxilium would mosy likely use a round shield, as was common among the Germanic tribes. The biggest problem I have is all the Germanic tribes having models of the Sutton Hoo helm - to my knowledge a Vendel Era (6th-8th centuies) find from Anglo-Saxon England - and Celtic anthropomorph swords instead of the simpler spatha hilts they were known for. Oh, and Roman infantrymen wearing parade crests on their helms in battle; that shit fucking triggered me when I first saw it. By the way... since when were pikes used by the Germanic tribes in the 5th century? As far as I know, pikes fell out of use after the Roman conquest of Hellas, and weren't re-introduced in any major way until the late 13th century by the Scots, and later adopted by the Swiss to fight off the Burgundians.
