The John Wayne movie was far superior to the 2004 film because it gets the viewer in the heart. There is a deep emotional connection to the Alamo and the defenders. Laurence Harvey was epic as Travis. The film may not necessarily be history, but it inspires.

I probably agree with you on that. The Wayne movie made me want to learn more about the Alamo as a kid. The 2004 film is superior in terms of accuracy, although as we know not without its own flaws, but is lacking in inspiration. In our opinion, of course.
