This came out before HBOs The Pacific so it really shows how much the devs put into research and dedication without having to piggyback on something that’s already been done in film or games. I’m sure some of them genuinely read Sledge’s book and though it’d be cool to add it in the game
Considering they plucked so much from Private Ryan, BoB and Enemy at the Gates, I am surprised they actually did this all on their own with just the books and internet at their disposal.
Watching HBO's The Pacific and play this mission afterwards, can't get any better then that! God I wish if you can wipeout all your memories from those days and redo it again!
Really wish this got a remaster, everything about this game is amazing! From the gameplay, the story, the characters, the multiplayer was fun n even had vehicles in it that you can drive, the Zombies, The co-op mode, and not too mention showing the Brutality of what war really looks like along with the Gore 👍 also fun fact you can get the ray gun on the 1st half of this campaign its actually on the beach
And this is how you make that specific WWII atmosphere... you're just one soldier, one of the many, who is seeing the horrors of war with every further step... Man, they should just remaster this game or remake the first CODs (1, United Offensive, 2, Big Red One, 3...) instead of making that Hollywood wannabee. Vanguard simply doesn't feel right.
@@brndonlu9635 Unfortunately, nobody has balls to do that nowadays... They're scared of SJWs, LGBTs and similar political activists. If they did that, I am sure that they wouldn't make a mistake - people want to try something new.
i just bought this game over the Halloween steam sale love it only have one complaint and that is banzai charges only seem to happen when i have only like 2 bullets left in my rifle lol. thanks for the great video hope your Halloween went well
They should remaster this and Cod final fronts, cod 3 and port those to pc as well, cod 1 and united offensive, cod 2 and boom i would be hally for a long time
@@fuso-yamashiro-harunabattl7015 imagine if banzai charges were randomly generated like how left for dead does in their games with the mobs. Each time you replay a mission, they’d happen at different times and that you have to fight off a couple waves before continuing or defend an objective, etc.
WAW2 particularly would have to be somebody else in the pacific’s story, maybe another raider or marine paratrooper or 1st division member from the beginning fighting on Guadalcanal and Cape Gloucester all the way up to Okinawa.
I’ve been to Peleliu 2x and confirm that the island is brutal even under peacetime conditions. I even found the exact bunker that they used for the first Zombie game Night of the Undead.
I love seeing comments saying "totally inaccurate". If they made this battle accurate you would be forced to stay on the beach in a 2 hour long mission that you couldn't cut through. Then when passing that the level would require another 3 weeks of playing time
Yes,Your right,Then again we see people complaining bout a war movie not being realistic or accurate,But if everything was realistic and accurate then it wouldn’t be fun and unique or enjoyable anymore,Because everything would be predictable and boring
and its already a 10 hour long campaign, also its BARELY "INACCURATE" the only things that people think that make World AT War inaccurate are the small tiny details like the gun types, where and how far the tanks were, and some stupid trivial nonsense. And im barely seeing any comments saying this is inaccurate
Unfortunately it needs to stay perfect and in the past, I dont trust them to do anything to a ww2 game. I wouldn't trade better graphics for the removal of swastikas, war brutality etc
@@ferrentepistach8657 totally. people keeps throwing money at this god awful companies like activision or EA expecting good things back. normie gamers are delusional
May not looks a good as Vanguard in the graphics department, but when it comes to authenticity and believability, this game is better hands down. I'd rather play this than that "WW2" game any day of the week.
But the problem with World at War, is that it could be too dark and cynical at times and Vanguard while not as realistic and authentic as WaW but it still more positive and heroic, even the Soviets. While I don't exactly disagree with you but remember every games has it's own cons and pros.
@@radjadawamindra697 It's war, what do you expect? There's nothing happy go lucky about the deadliest and most destructive conflict in human history, or war in general. World at War's dark tone was perfect. Wish more military shooters were like it.
@@cxcarmic maybe you're right. I was just venting my opinion there. Though I was never said that Vanguard is happy go lucky. It was just more heroic in tone than WaW while also still more dark and gritty than WW2.
@@radjadawamindra697 I look at games like BF5, COD WW2, and Vanguard and I just cringe when seeing the "hero shooter" stuff like soldier customization. I think this short video sums up why I now play indie WW2 games like Hell Let Loose: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iDvlO9-dxnE.html&ab_channel=FlippinDingDong
I'm actually a Palauan and I have family in Peleliu. It feels almost nostalgic watching this battle unfold because world at war was one of the first cod games I played. If you ever decide to visit Palau, Peleliu has the best WWII sites on the island. I recommend going to Bloody Nose Ridge. Best spot, ong. Oh btw, in terms of the game's accuracy, they pretty much nailed it. Two thumbs up.
Fellow Palauan here! My grandpa was born in Peleliu as well. My moms most remembered story was that he hid in a cave during the war and waited 15 years until he felt it was safe enough to have my mom. Glad to know more people coming to comment here. Makes me feel at home.
@@AFGuidesHD Was meant to be a staging point for the Invasion of Japan that never came, the men killed on Okinawa and Iwo Jima helped convince the President to approve the atomic bomb's use.
@@jaybeeonytOkinawa was the bloodiest so far,the invasion would've been the MOTHER of all battles WORSE than Stalingrad thanks to the nukes it saved millions as horrific as they were.🤦🏾♂️
@AFGuidesHD Eugene Sledge was on both battles with K Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. In his memoirs he described Peleliu as being like a WW1 battlefield and the same when he was on Okinawa, Many places on Okinawa looked like Flanders Fields and Verdun only this time it was on Japanese soil
Me too i always replace the campagin weapons with MG42 or PPSH (if you lucky enough to find one in singleplayer) in russian missions and a double barreled shoty as my secondary.
@@user-gd8cm6rs5p exactly, cause the weight of that two guns. But let just pretend miller is gigachad who can bring double machinegun to the battlefield XD
One thing i hate is that One swatika can never be used again 2 people still belive the atom bombs should not bean droped when in reality the casualties will be more than what they think there blinded thinking its for winning when its for saving us and japan from total annihialation
Because in my opinion there's a lot of very controversial topics that game studios have never wanted to touch. The war in Europe was awful too but very different. It's hard to tell the story of the pacific war without including the atrocities, the mass civilian casualties and suicides, the kamikazes, mutilations etc..
The music at 0:52 is a little quiet but it perfectly portrays WWII. Marines and service men going out think war is all glory and then the realisation sets in later that they're stuck right in the thick of hell. That poor Private gets his brains blown out moments later. This was more than just a game. I don't think there's a single FPS our there that portrays WWII in the same light that WAW does
facts: at the beginning of the battles we only found soldiers fighting, however when the Americans are taking the battle (between the penultimate and last invasion mission on the island) it is possible to see high-ranking officers on the battlefield fighting alongside the soldiers. implying that the Japanese were desperate
The one in accuracy is the Japanese tanks shouldn't be able to destroy an Sherman the Japanese tanks were litterly breakable so why did it destroy a sherman
I just notice that you play it with the Pacific Theater mod for the Little Resistance and Hard Landing, thank you so much! I'd like to put this video on our article as well if you wouldn't mind.
Maybe the first half the video, I'm not sure about the 2nd half as the game crashed and my recording was messed up and I didn't reload the mod so I dunno if after a crash it remains loaded or what ?
@@AFGuidesHD I think the game just restart and reset to the vanilla version after the crash. This also happened to me for a few times in the past. But it because of how buggy and unpredictable the game is, not the mod.
I’m watching the HBO show The Pacific right now, and wow this game and show hit the nail on the head on portraying the brutality of this theater. Both the Japanese and the Americans demonizing each other to feel no sympathy for killing them. And to tell the soldiers they’re doing a justice by killing them. 10:59pm Aug/27/23
So nostalgic. Vanguard may be better than WW2, but World at War is even better, so with the upcoming of Vanguard, I believe this game may not be as good as WAW. What I like about World at War is you are a soldier fight like a true soldier in the battlefield, the Axis forces, Nazi Germany and Empire of Japan, are the major enemies you can fight, there's no actual story and no huge goal, the weapons are consistent; in appropriate setting (not like PPSH-41 at D-Day in WW2), they're common, and its mechanics. One odd thing in this game, especially this video, is, like I said in the other comment, banzai chargers should be human wave attacks and swarming not few people charge in. I believe this game deserve a remake so we can see the new graphics, new weapons like M3 Grease gun and maybe Sten gun for the multiplayer, and maybe new features like takedown animation or you use pistol to counter a banzai charger not just knifing them.
if you know about history you can hear some say 'panas' or panasnye if you hear it that mean the enemies you shoot was indonesian were conspcript by japanese army
I only wish they would have included other operations (not just mentioned them), such as Cherry Blossom 1943 (also known as the invasion of Bougainville).
