I have a Phenix PD 35 1000 lm that I originally bought back when I was working corrections. I can say that if you're a CO, especially on night shift, they're gonna hate if you're shining that bright ass light into cells at 3am! But it was a good deterrent when they start getting rowdy, maybe fighting, ECT. Just light the cell up like the Vegas strip... they'll go back to bed! Now that I'm on the streets, I like it because I also work nights now, and it lights up a room Super good!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you because your gear review of the Hatch Friskmaster gloves convinced me to buy a pair. They allowed me to very possibly save my life last night without messing my hand up too bad. I was on a domestic and was in a small half bath with the husband (which looking back I realize was a pretty stupid move) and he tried to stab me and he would have done it I hadn't of grab the knife. I only have a slight bruise on my hand.

+Johnny Reb I'm telling you man, those gloves have saved me hospital visits on so many ly occasions. Lots of gloves don't cover the whole hand, but the frisk masters are awesome.

Why can't everyone's videos be like this one. This video shows flashlights used in different scenarios, side by side. Gives all the necessary details of each flashlight. No bullshit, straight to the point. Great video

I can't speak for the other 2 lights but I've had my TN-12 for about 5 years now. I have used it every single day for those 5 years and I can tell you that it is the best light I've ever had. It's been dropped numerous times from different heights, submerged in water numerous times, and subjected to high heat being left in my vehicle numerous times. It has never failed. The clip has not lost its rigidity. For the money I'm extremely amazed with its quality and durability.

Most agree Thrunigth is the class winner, at it has the best throw of these 3. - If you prefer a floodlight, Thorfire is the winner, also price wise. You can not get the upgraded model ThorFire TK15S with side switch for only $ 17,60, which is $42 less than Thrunight on AliExpress

Pick up a Zebralight sc600w IV Plus. Got one and it will light up a field. 2300 lumens and small as any of these lights.

@jonnypescado1
@jonnypescado1 7 лет назад
I would still have a hard time trusting them. My P3X Fury cost a little more, but is backed by a company who tests to DoD/.gov standards. Streamlight is definitely making a run at the title, with the ProTac HLX, HLX Rail Mount, and TLR-1 HL. Maybe one of those as a 2nd or 3rd back-up, but I prefer a known quantity for serious use.
@freefieldtraining
@freefieldtraining 7 лет назад
+jonnypescado1 Surefire is not the only one who tests to dod standards. They are the ones who put the time into quality control to make their lights worth twice the price. I use streamlight for most applications at work and have only ever had one problem which was a legitimate issue of me wearing out the light with my tlr-2. To be fair to streamlight, I did drop the thing off a repelling tower once...three years before it finally died.

if you want to talk about high powered flash lights... check out Adventure Sport Flashlights and their 5,000 lumen Maglite. and make no mistake, it really does put out the advertised 5k Lumens. 3 XHP-50 Cree LEDs. oh yeah. I bought one strictly for work, and let me tell you it damn near blinds any wrondoers occupying vehicles late at night.

I Chose Coastportland (Coast) flashlights since it's an american brand. The only american brand there are are Coast, Surefire and Maglite as I know. From those Surefire are to expensive to me and Maglite I had Trouble they honour the warranty as the Mini LED AA it's Switch failed. So I bought a few of the Coast HP1 on Amazon and the one in use is amazing. Expect the Switch to malfunction after 3 months as did mine but Coast has a lifetime warranty which they really honour. So that Comes down to the warranty of all Coast has the very best and far superior warranty. I stick with the Coast brand in order to "Make 'Merica great again". Besides that These HP1 cost 10 US$ on Amazon and are the best bang for the buck, best value there is. Kudos to you Coastportland.

Fenix, Olight, Thrunight, Klarus, etc are all Chinese based companies and should have respectively shitty Warranty. And believe me, they fail as well and are normally horrible expensive. Most of These lights costs about 10 to 15 US$ to manufacture but are sold for 40, 50, 70+ of your hard earned US$.
@chadj79
@chadj79 4 года назад
RL S that’s amazing, I just purchased a Fenix flashlight today with a shitty 5 year warranty. Also I purchased directly from Fenix in OK, which is where the repairs are done if necessary. This is my third Fenix, and for 5 years now, they haven’t let me down. And as far as cost, sure beats paying Surefire double for less.

Gotta give a thumbs down because you skipped what is, in my book, the 2nd most important feature of a tactical EDC light: the ability to go straight from OFF to STROBE. It's shocking how rare this feature is, even on brands supposedly known to be tactical, like Surefire. They don't have a single model with this important feature. I haven't found a Fenix that does either, and I collect LED lights (have over 100.) I don't even think EagTac or Acebeam do, but I have fewer of them so I'm not as sure. Nitecore has strobe from OFF on at least one model, the TM16/GT, but it's a little too big for EDC. The only lights I know of that are small enough and bright enough for EDC that have strobe from OFF are Jetbeam (TCE 1), MecArmy PT series, and (my top choice) Zebralight. Zebralight and Noctigon are the only two brands that have a higher build quality than Surefire. Btw, Streamlight sucks. Trash that shit. The Zebralight SC63 is only 3.5" long, 1100ish lumen, indestructible, runs on a flat top 18650 and has strobe from OFF. The SC32 is only 2.5" (!!!), runs on a 16340 and is almost as bright as the SC63. If the Nitecore CU6 had strobe from OFF, it would be tactical carry king because it has an absolutely VISCIOUS optional "attack" bezel capable of dishing out major pain compliance, and also has a UV and RGB LED. The Surefire P3X Fury would also be near perfect if it had strobe, but incredibly, very few tactical lights have it despite how incredibly useful it is.
@freefieldtraining
@freefieldtraining 6 лет назад
+RationallySkeptical I have found both strobe and pointed bezels to be of zero use in real life. Both are features that were designed to sell lights not for any practical purpose. While strobe was arguable when it first came out as a feature and was hyped like crazy by a bunch of people who were paid to talk about using it, the bezels never were anything but aesthetic. The idea that they would do anything but cut a person when you hit them and create more liability on your part for no increase in effectiveness of the strike has been laughable since day one. So much so that companies who try to get government contracts for police lights leave it off because they know agencies will laugh at them. I have had a few rookies who were super into strobe and hitting people with the bezel. They get over it really quick after trying them on real bad guys. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news man, but the internet has lied to you on the regular and lots of it is just to take your money.
