I have the Ridgid, Ryobi and Milwaukee fans. I can tell you the Ridgid will run 7 hours on a 4.0 ah battery on high and about 3 hours 20 minutes on a 2.0 ah battery. You’re definitely right about the amount of air flow coming from the Milwaukee. It feels stronger to me. I have the Ryobi and use it the most because it sits next to my bed and I run it at night because of the noise. Unfortunately I think a bearing is going out because when you turn it on it makes a loud noise that can be stopped by banging on top of the fan a couple of times. Going to have to do a warranty exchange on that one. As far as run time, I can get 6 hours on high with a 4.0 ah battery and 17 hours on low. The Milwaukee seems to be the loudest of all the fans. I’ve been able to get about 4 hours of runtime with 5.0 ah battery. One other quirk I learned about the Milwaukee is it actually has more power with the battery rather than using the power brick.
It’s been approximately 8 months since I watched this review and I decided to go with the Dewalt 511 fan. It was sale priced at $109.99 CAN. Glad I did too. Again, great review. Great fan!
Thanks for this video. I use the Milwaukee fan positioned in the floor of my dump truck, which has zero room for any hanging options . It doesn't overturn, and the plastic is of great quality. If I were in long haul tractor trailer work I'd also be looking at that Dewalt. For dump truck dirt hauls that trash the fan with dust this Milwaukee an be cleaned easily with a swiffer duster. It has survived the extreme bumpity-bumps of offroad dump trucking , as well as being stored in a hot car (minus the battery, of course). Thanks for showing the Dewalt. Never seen it until this video
Yea in reality like I say power wise they pretty much all the same ..just some features that make them different...yea if Milwaukee just fits ..the Dewalt will not ..much bigger then the Milwaukee
I love the milwaukee above all. 1 because the adapter is compact, it can plug in a small extension cord and comes with the fan. With the other fans you have to carry a bulky extension cord with them. 2 it blows more than enough air even though the others last longer with a 5 amp battery. I can always put another battery in no prob
I own the Dewalt,Milwaukee and the Ryobi. I run all 3 of them all the time. Love the Dewalt, but then I'm usually biased toward Dewalt. The Milwaukee puts out great air but hate that AC plug in! The Ryobi for the money is a great fan. I beat the hell out of it (because it's a Ryobi) but it never hiccups a bit. My opinion on these fans if you are looking to buy one is to stick with the brand you have already invested so much in. Just my 2 cents worth. Great video Boss man!
Yup .just about nailed it ..like I said in video don't let specs fool you ..the Milwaukee at 284 cfm and Ridgid at 475 must of been tested differently cause Milwaukee throws more air ..but alot louder , doesn't rotate as much , no mounting options , ac adapter and biggest thing 20% more expensive
I went ahead and stuck with Dewalt when looking for a fan and thankfully Dewalt has put out this great model. It's more expensive which is a kick in the nads but it could have been worse.. Dewalt could have had the worst fan out and all Dewalt customers would be stuck with it because we have Dewalt batteries and tools. So yeah not bad in the end. My wife oddly enough loves the fan haha.
I got the dewalt recently but no AC version. It goes forever on a 5 AH battery. I use it in summer here in Australia at night on low. Just to keep cool. Cheers
FYI, The Ryobi has grooves in the base that allow you to hang it from your garage door rails. Super helpful when working in the garage during the summer. I take the Ryobi to the dog park during the summer to keep cool and keep the bugs at bay. Super light weight. Love it!
Awesome boss. I have the rigid and the Dewalt. Love them both, the Dewalt is a little nicer quality and a better footprint but I actually prefer that the rigid can go down to a VERY low speed, maybe even less than half of Dewalt slowest setting. Sometimes I like to have it just lightly circulating some air which is almost silent... by the way I’m on my way home with the 40v mower, about to try it out. Thanks again TB.
Yes very true ..like I showed in vid the Ridgid can go crazy low ..at it's lowest doesn't do much of anything ..but yea probably does have widest range 😉
I have the Milwaukee but if they come out with higher cfm i will be in heaven. It's a life saver when I'm feeling over heated at work. Great to take to the bathroom too
Ive got the ryobi and love it. We lost power last night and I had it on high with air on my face. Slept like a baby. I also have tinnitus so the noise helps me sleep
I have the Milwaukee and dewalt fan, and the Milwaukee blows way more air then the dewalt. But at least I got the dewalt for $100 with battery and charger!
I just got my dewalt today and from watching videos like this I really expected more, im so upset. Right now they're 129$ at home depot and by the time it gets here in my country it cost nearly double. Every video praises dewalt for how much air it puts out. But it doesn't put out more air than the milwaukee on high for sure. I know you guys might say I have a faulty fan but I doubt it I compared them both on high and milwaukee wins for sure. The dewalt puts out pretty much as much as the milwaukee puts out on speed two maybe a little more.
Ya on paper the dewalt is better but in real life the Milwaukee gives u the best air when u need it, it pushes the air farther making it more affective, u cant always be right up on it, especially if your working
I got my ridgid a few months ago when they first went down to 49 bucks. It’s an awesome fan think I’m going to pick up a few more to have around the house for hurricane season.
I have 3 of the ryobi fans one on my bed side two in the garage I like them loud it helps me sleep when I’m home. I’m used to livening on a tug boat so the noise is no problem for me.
Well dang it I'm going to have to go out and buy that dewalt fan now that I've watched your vid Boss! Ive been him hawing around about buying one and since I'm in the Dewalt platform I'm glad the Dewalt is a good option in your opinion. I finally jumped off the fence after this last weeks heat wave and wishing I had a portable fan to set by me when I'm building outdoor playsets and gazebos, because I'm baking in the sun with no air flow. Your vid gave me that little extra feel good about spending the money😉
@@duncdunc76 its ok, it depends on what your using it for i guess, i work on construction sites in buildings with no ac in over 100 degree weather, im a dewalt guy , all my tool are dewalt but the Milwaukee fansblows much harder and farther so im buying it
I have the gen4 ridgid fan. Its nice. I use the hooks and a rope to hook it to the hand rail of boom lifts to get some airflow on my back. Its hot in houston on jobsites. I got mine at a pawnshop for $35. 4 ah batt will last most of the day on high if you turn it off when you dont use it. The 6ah and 9 ah last all day no problem. I normally use a 4 ah in the fan.
What's hurting Ryobi is they are now pricing their 18v tools very close to industry standard tool prices forcing you to buy the industry standard tool.
Yea ..I like my slogan .. Milwaukee tools at Ryobi prices . At some point all go on sale ..end up being just about same price as Ryobi on certain tools ...and close to Ridgid on others
Just got the Dewalt fan for $80 only because I got a bunch of batteries for it. I get about a day and half at work with a 5AH battery on high all day. Putting all the electricians Milwaukee fans to shame.
I own both the Ridgid and the Milwaukee. They each have their uses. I actually use the Ridgid a bit more than the Milwaukee at home, but the red one is the one I take traveling. If they could put the Ridgid fan speed dial on the Milwaukee, and put a beefier cord on it, Big Red would be the best by far, IMHO. EDIT: Yeah, I forgot to mention the red one needs rafter hooks. Can't really hang it anywhere as it is.
@@homescool3767 I get MAYBE 10 hours or just slightly more on the lowest setting with an 8Amp battery. So I'd suggest a 12Amp and u can PERHAPS get close to 8 hours. Cheers 🍻
I was looking for a job site fan I was thinking of a 20 inch box fan and power in verter from Harbour freight hooked up to 12volt deep cycle battery. Im kind of hoping that Royobi will come out with a new fan with more speeds and stops for the height adjustments. My Home Depot only carries a few job site fans it dosent give me confidence when they say only 1or 2 in stock for the Royobi
Had original walk off recently. Got a new one today. No idea on cost since company sent out. I was just glad to have it. Keeps air moving and weld smoke out of face so dble thumbs up there
It all depends what battery system you are invested in. Mine is Ridgid and I have no apologies about it. These are great power tools and I love them. What kept me away from DeWalt is how they switched to a battery that didn't work with their older tools. That to me is Bullshit and planned obsolescence.
Thanks for this. I'm gonna be sleeping my car all day during summer, so need something that can go at least 8 hours hard. Open to any tips or suggestions.
Waiting on the Hercules one! I got a Hercules bundle basically for my birthday haha Circular saw, recip saw, hammer drill impact, two 5 AH batteries, Impact rated bits, drill bits, saw blades and and an 18 inch tool bag, freaking over the moon haha
@@Mexicanmike87 I did not know they had a fan coming out in that platform. Rumor has it they may be redesigning some of there stuff on the Herc lineup.
@@jeremyruff7961 yep that's what I heard too, and yes I heard there should be a fan coming out with the Hercules line, granted I have a huge 24 inch fan from HF too but I want something portable haha
Great review I was looking at picking up the Dewalt kit they had at the Depot, they had a few left I was hoping they were going to put them on clearance at my store and get it for $80 with the 1.5 battery and charger. They sold them all at $99 though cause I live in the desert and fans are like gold this time of year. Haha I'll pick it up at tool only for $80 on Amazon now, though I was laughing you had the 12.0Ah battery in that thing. I don't even have a 9.0Ah flexvolt yet little lone the 12.0Ah, I couldn't justify putting a $200 battery in a $80 fan at least not yet, maybe someday when I have a lot more batteries. Lol
Youre looking at all the dumb features that don't make a fan a fan, what matters is how much dam air it blows not how quiet it is or weather its a shop plug or a.c. adapter, the milwaukee fan is hands down the best one regardless of price
Have you actually tried the others to be making that statement? Because the Ridgid looks hands down by far best value for the money and very close in quality and capabilities. I would probably buy the Dewalt if they were $5 to $10 apart but not for almost twice the dough. I don't understand Dewalt's pricing.
I have both the dewalt and the milwaukee, the milwaukee feels like it blows harder, but both work really well, Dewalt lies about being 20v so they could also be lying about their cfm output
Get two ryobis for the price of a Dewalt? can run a Ryobi fan with a battery adapter, that will use DeWalt or Milwaukee batteries... I just tripled my DeWalt battery arsenal from deals you posted! I am gonna get a yellow fan and see what it's about, sounds like awesome run times. If any manufacturer reading this we need a fan with an LED Light and 2 USB slots, maybe even a detachable light? That can be recharged when attached back to the fan and separately, So many people depend on these things during hurricane outages and other places, including camping. (And make the light brightness adjustable so it's just not an obnoxious white light, red, blue, green option would be great)
Update: Bought the Dewalt on Amazon $79, it arrived today, have a 3ah on it to test run time, first I will say I really like the airflow even on low, it feels better than the ryobi fans, which I have so many of...rotation of the fan head is great, especially it rotates down as well, unlike the limey, the speed selector is great, and it is as solid as TB describes..., 6 of them limeys might be returned this weekend! (Plus I can't believe how quiet this thing is compared to the Ryobi fans)
Tested dewalt with a 3ah battery results on lowest speed, which is ample airflow but not the same speed as low on the Ryobi so , that would be just under the medium setting on the DeWalt, so the results on low with a 3ah 20v yellow top battery is just under 48 hours!!!!! Ran the test twice, same results, I am sold on these DeWalt fans, best airflow, has a wide range adjustable dial, and for comparison, I ran the ryobi on low with a 9ah battery for 37 hours which I thought was awesome, till this DeWalt came along... quiet as heck, it was just $79 at Lowes and Amazon, will stock up on these on black Friday and christmas if it drops that low again... If you have a Milwaukee to DeWalt battery adapter be forewarned depending on the one you have it may barely hit the battery slot preventing it from positioning into place, nothing a Dremel tool can't solve, either taking a little off the fan side or the adapter, I have contacted the adapter people to let them know the hump on both sides needs to be tweaked a tad.
The Ryobi has been available for 29.99 Canadian since April. That's like 22 USD. I use mine daily and I'm thinking of picking up a second because of the price.
How would you rate them value wise if you have to purchase batteries and charger also. You have Milwaukee listed as last in your opinion but for me it would be number 1 because I already have Milwaukee tools and done need to buy any other components to use it.
TOOL BOSS....something that you may want to mention is that the Ridgid Fan(s) come with a 'LIFETIME WARRANTY' when registered with Ridgid. I'm pretty sure you have 90 days to register for the 'lifetime warranty' after purchase. If the fan comes in a combo (?) which include a battery and charger, I believe the battery and charger are also 'lifetime warranted'. Ridgid 'combo tool sets' usually have a lifetime warranty for everything included with the set...tools, batteries, and charger. Most of their 'tool only items' also.
Nope .. no such thing thsts y i didn't say it ... Lifetime Service Agreement LSA .. NOT LW or Lifetime Warranty... Very different and there lsa is terrible ..
First off I'd rather have the ac adapter, if I'm in my house or out on my porch, I can just plug it into my wall outlet, and/or also an extension cord, with the other fans, YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN EXTENSION CORD to run it without battery, u can't plug them into a wall outlet, sometimes u don't always have an extension cord on hand, but most of the time there's an outlet 😉
I like the ridgid and that it's really quiet but I dislike that the off switch is at high mode. So backwards to how typical variable switches are. I will think of this video the first time I try to crank it up and shut it off accidently.
@@toolboss8410 You did and I'm glad you did. I hope with your channel size Ridgid knows about that. I mean what are these designers thinking when they backwards a switch like that. Its so obviously a user inconvenience.
Too many people purchase their tools based on name brand and not on performance!Im loyal to no brand, only to the actual tool.I definitely prefer the better tool any day of the week.
I have the original Makita non-oscilating, as well as the Milwaukee. I would like to have the Metabo with 14 inch metal cage and blade. , but don't have batteries.. Nor battery adapters like I do for Makita/Ridgid, Makita/Ryobi, and Milwaukee/Ryobi.
just picked up the Milwaukee M18 fan one of the big reasons all my tools on Milwaukee so I have the batteries for it live in Long Island New York I think it was around 108th today but most of the day outside change my AC compressor on my truck use the fan put it on the top of my motor set right on the plastic intake Dodge Hemi but I put the fan on top of the motor change my AC the fan save me we just delivered circulation of the year
Let me show some love to the Big Blue Kobalt fan. It has 600 CFM, both battery or wall powered and comes in at $69. Also if you place it near you while playing XBOX or Playstation like I do you will double your kills on Call of Duty. BAM!
What I hate about the Ryobi is that on the low setting the air coming out is way too low they could've atleast just lowered it a little. The milwaukee has very low run time but gives great air. I hear everyone say on each video I watch how much run time these have on low. But what about high???? Can someone tell me please. Mainly the dewalt. I wanna know cause everyone says on low each one gives good air but for me they don't. I live in a country where the temperature can reach up to 100+ degrees plus so I need them on high
