Battle of the Bands TSU vs. BCU 

We won't see a fifth quarter like this in a long time.....two clean but powerful bands going toe to toe....

One of the greatest most underrated battles of all time. Cleanliness intensity dexterity all wrapped in one between two amazing programs. I watch this video numerous times and I still come up with a tie.

BCU is very technical and i appreciate their musicianship

This will be enjoyed by band heads for an eternity. Both top notch programs put on a show.

Still one of the best fifths out there. The rematch didn't live up to this battle at all.

tsu got this all the way hands down. they had better songs and they matched there sound. dontget me wrong bcu was robotic as always but this is what tsu is known for. SIZE DO NOT MATTER TSU DID THE DAMN THANG!!!

Nobody lost to me,I believe these 2 HBCU had the longest 5th quarter in history. For them to know that many songs is amazing....Uniformality wise(BCU) song selection (TSU) sound wise(BCU/TSU)

Ice Cream Man by BCU was amazing. Did anyone catch the percussion work? afro cuban groove with a clave on the cowbell... they actually made the instruments talk...

Both bands sound amazing

Now this was a battle. All the over blowing and screaming doesn't impress me, quality of sound and song selection puts a smile on my face. This was a damn good one!!! Both Bands have my respect!

bcu's articulation is out of this world

BCU is a great band. They have a way of salvaging the past and creating new sounds. They can take from the old and turn it into something new and powerful. Go Wildcats!

Very few people really get to see how deep our book goes unless you come to Daytona. Man, this took me back. Most of these songs never get brought out. Shout out to TSU for taking us there. Great 5th by both. Hail Wildcats...

as a TSU fan....the first time i heard BCU live was at the HONDA back in JANURARY. but after watching this....i have a new found RESPECT for their band. it was like neither band was gonna quit. Good job both bands.

I was here, and I have to say as a former Marching Wildcat that TSU took this. I will also say that B-CU have NEVER been a stand band at all. Technicality goes to TSU, Sound Quality Cookman numbers don't matter because we are talking about the overall quality and not the volume. Book of course goes to TSU. Halftime goes to Cookman.

This is one of them ONCE IN LONG TIME MOMENTS..They both performe well.

TSU won hands down. We started playing first and left a lil stank at the end!!! BCU is very good I enjoyed every second. BCU has a lot of singing and dancing songs, I do believe that they are technical. TSU is just to strong any time you go up against a band that has you beat by a ratio of 2-1 and still hold your on or better still be able to out play as far as sound, tech, dynamics and the depth of the songs. That is a win in my book any day. I was in the band so I can hear curtain things that the average person may not be paying attention too. Best 5th quarter ever. Two thumbs up for both bands. I know how hard it is to practice every fucking day.

Love the TSU lower brass and song book. As usual BCC is great too. I enjoyed the contrast in arrangments, from both schools. I hope all of them are music majors, and began teaching our children musicianship. Great job, both bands.

Tnsu and Txsu are similar and I got chills when Tnsu played "take your time" by the SOS band because when we played Tnsu my first year we played that same song against them my very first road game as a crab in the Ocean.

I say that TSU won this battle because of the simple fact they use dynamics and they play with more musicality than anything else whereas but phone Cookman was playing with more power which would be good for a MEAC such as A&T... I don't really know what conference Tennessee State is in but to me they sound like a swac band but I like their style better

I am an old head from TSU and I currently live in Florida and both bands have done a wonderful job but I am always going to love home. Jamaica funk....yes and a graduate of TSU, keep it going with John Legend...love them crats. S- psi.

Both band we great in overall sound.. And percussion.. We can understand what they played clearly..

Everytime I look at this footage I feel like I missed one of those rare moments in band history. Both bands regardless of who anyone thinks won brought it. Not just volume but variety and quality.

wow!! great battle..As a wildcat fan, I can admit that BCU isn't a "5th quarter" band, so their sound selection was lacking big time. I can say that what they lacked in this aspect, they made up in SOUND QUALITY, consistancy, musicianship, and sound output...the sound quality and uniformanity as a unit is undeniable and for this I think they deserved the win! -surprisingly-

TSU won in my eyes , they showed musicality in everything they played. Don't get me wrong BCU was amazing as well .

First off if you cookman wasnt always requested and videotaped so often the songs they and sound they produce would be extraordinary too alot of folk but even still being at the top we're still respect for evrything that we produce...

I don't know if I have a clear winner, both bands were amazing, that reggae joint by BC, was straight Fie, then TSU came back with Mercy me by Marvin Gaye. Lol this battle was insane. BCU was funkin it, at times I thought TSU's balance was a little off. But this battle was epic. Good job by both.

This can't be all post game footage. Looking at it all once and not in pieces makes it just that much more amazing. So, this is how many band events would be if security doesn't intervene. It is day light when they start up and then it is clearly dark as hell by the time they finish. Damn! Good job crats and wildcats. Regardless of who you like better they both sound great. This is one for the record books.

Mad respect to TSU for holding it down in the OVC conference as the only HBCU. You guys sound great too. I gotta stick with BCU cause they sound superior and my brother marched there.

I got TSU in my Top 5 This year. I like em. As far as BCU's book. THEY HAVE SONGS. Just not what they need for an extended fifth. When you start throwing in Rap tunes (with little music in them), Pep songs, you start to lose the battle. I like BCU too but I pray they upgrade the book. Then I really don't think there could be more than 1-2 bands that could come CLOSE to them. THAT IS ALL, -AEA

That Outkast song was groovey n them tubas was right i love Bcu field shows but playing the same book over n over n over is plain BORING everybody keep on saying bcu sounds n clarity is great n technical but when you play the same stuff over n over to perfected the song of coarse its going to sound clean hell they play it all the time. Being that Tsu is smaller the sound matched everything they played whether they made small mistakes they still kept the crowd hyped their arrangements wasn't played sloppy n loud they were very matched! Bcu use to kill everybody but these are same shit they played when i was in high school. Tsu did get the win in stands.
