Very useful info. I have only used two of the products you test. I need to mess around with my shaker solutions more- but so far I haven’t really found anything I truly enjoy on/near the shifter. Anything I use at higher volume levels creates extra rattling/resonance between moving parts and lower volumes defeat the point. I’m still trying though as I feel like something is better than nothing. Thank you for taking the time to show so many options! Edit- I went back in SimHub and reevaluated my settings and got things working much better. I had a very high frequency setting under gear shift that was really clashing. You are the only channel that has so many different exciters. Can you try to hook up a DML Speaker with a 2mm acrylic panel or a 20~30mm XPS panel? I would like to hear the difference between the different exciters. Maybe you could even do measurements. You would make a killer video!
Hello, there is one that seems the best, but the weight definitely makes the difference... I'm going with 10 bodyshakers in my cockpit, 2 of 12" and 2 of 10" that I made, there are 2 on the pedal board, 1 on top, right behind the DD and another to the chassis, I only turn on the latter when I see a repetition and it goes directly to the audio. 6 Reckhorn BS200i on the chair, they are independent and isolated, all with few Simhub effects, I feed them with 10 mono amplifiers for subwoofer of 100W 4 Ohms and 5 power supplies of 24V.20Amp. The pedal board and the saddle are mounted on springs and rubber bands, and thus I avoid contamination of the vibration to the chassis and ground... Maybe in a few months I buy a couple of servos and put them on the sides to puff up my shoulders a bit, now I tried with head and back separately and together and I didn't like it, I was thinking of making a 2DOF but the more I see, the less they convince me, and more with the great immersion I have now... Bodyshakers are the way to go for me, it's The most realistic thing is in my opinion, the movement systems are good to have fun, but not unrealistic... For now and after 6 years of testing, I think I'm going to stop and enjoy it, although I have 4 wheels to finish and 2 shifter that need a set-up, this Simracing thing is non-stop... Regards.
Cool stuff! Always wondered why people put shakers on wheelbase. On the other hand I have one more Aura on the Inverted Pedal deck - together with the shifter one they propagate a lot of vibration throughout the rig effectively reaching the wheelbase. Pedal plate and seat are decoupled from rig so have localized vibrations. Still toying with the idea to find some robust small exciters for localized shifter feedback but cannot find something small that works well in the 40Hz range and will not break. Yes, never tested those, wonder how they will work. I am planning on buying some simagic pedal reactors and comparing with daex32 and hesf, also will throw in the mix my rumble motors. Please update when you finish testing ;)
@@57uyo will do and as far as those reactors asked race beyond matter to test awhile back with p2000 box and he said they seem to work without actually connecting the pedals think he might have a video about it soon, I will hold off until someone makes easy way to attach them to any pedal set.
@@Eskoxo I will 3d print mounts and drive them with one of my amps and SimHub as I am with heusinkveld pedals (saw people already using them with amps)
@@Eskoxo as far as I see they use standard DC jack so no issues there. Usb box is only adaptor for shifter/pedal to connect to PC. Still you need the pedals to drive the reactors. Either way I have spare amp and PSU so just need the reactors themselves. Still on preorder in Europe, it I guess next month I will be able to get a couple.
Curiousity, have you thought to place it on your neck with a saw waveform sound and traying to speak to simulate a talkbox? If not could you test it please?
Very useful video! Im right now upgrading my NLR GTLite rig with 2 Auras on rear wheels, 2 TT25 pucks on front wheels and 2 EP32 for pedals. So far I had 2 pucks that worked amazing, but you know how it is :)
I watched this with some interest... Exciters are excellent to achieve a wider frequency range and audible tones that you cannot achieve with many of the other budget models as they are frequency restricted units. Most cheap models have a best working range in 30-80Hz but within that are strongest between 40-50Hz. The exciters can generate a much wider frequency range and this suits other types of effects but not so much gear shift roles. Some feedback... Where the exciters generally work best is in scenario of direct contact with a shell seat and for them to be used in multiple pairs for specific body regions. I see you have this on the seat already:) They also operate very well with multilayer effects that utilise octaves and generated harmonics as well as audible tones that can add extra detail/immersion to effects like engines. Appears this video is focused more on "Gear Shifts" and which unit produces more "punch". So not ideal role/scenario for a single exciter. Although in Simhub gearshifts do not just produce only the frequencies that users input for (Base/High) Hz. Damages usually happen with excessive wattage, or scenario with too many effects operational at one time using similar frequencies (espically 40-50Hz) this increases the amplitude of the generated source prior to amplification. In my own experimentation with effects I would say that using low frequencies is actually not the cause, sometimes how we apply certain frequencies with others is needed to generate specific sensations with how some frequencies react together. Recommendation: If you want a punchy transducer for a shifter that is much more robust yet still small then consider the "Earthquake Mini" which is also one of the best for using on pedals for ABS etc. Also take note that Simhub when using (Channel Tests) will output at 100% volume even if you use a reduced global volume and this is also a scenario that people cause damage to their units.
Thanks for pointing me to the quake mini (if this is the correct one I am finding). Looks interesting, but price point and 300W is too much for me. The Aura works ok currently on shifter, only issue it is bulky and I prefer to put it on seat for jump effects. Also thanks for the long comments, totally valid and I believe I already covered all of them in the written portion of the review in description. All of them are spot on and aligned with what I figured out. This vide os crucial prt of the complete review but covers very little part of the complete text.
In this application they are driven at frequencies up to about 70Hz, which is almost not audible. It is not their comfort operation mode but they do the trick.
@@thinkrtank991 It is the optimal choice especially if you take into account the price. The best option as expected is the Aura - it has more power in low frequencies and you can drive it at lower volume for Engine sound. Then overlaid with more powerful gear shift it works perfectly. Either way even with all the vibration loss in the rig structure both feel great in my setup, I needed only because I have 5 more of the same here and there on the rig and the shifter was underpowered and unbalanced with the rest.

Hmm, on what do you listen? I tested on laptop and phone speakers, also on headphones seems fine to me. Not sure if the intro music is out of level though...
