This model display of the Battle of Waterloo is made up of 15,000 hand-cast and painted 25mm figurines. It was made by Andre Rudolph over a period of eight years.
The table display measures 8 x 4 metres.
This display represents around an 13th of the actual numbers (almost 200,000) that were involved in the Battle, but it does give a good idea of how crowded those few square miles were that day in June 1815 and how desperately the Battle was fought.
It was on loan display at the Prince August Toy Solider factory located at Kilnamartyra, a few miles from the west Cork town of Macroom, and worth the visit! The type of moulds and metal from which the 25mm soldiers were cast are available in the factory shop next to the display.
It has since been returned to go on display in Germany.
