Am i the only person who ONLY buys the infantry version of any rifle?

Gewehr 95 is what i enjoy to use, The infantry variant is exceptionally good and extremely fun. It makes the game feel more like WW I

Using the marksmen allows you to have a scope but no scope glint so you dont get picked off as easily.

the gewehr 98 infantry is my favourite weapon in the game and believe or not but I can use it from long range and I dont have to put the gun down to pullo the bolt so ya pretty nice :D

I tried the Sniper variant in Ops on Fao Fortress, and the very high muzzle velocity makes the gun an absolute beast at extreme ranges. Headshots at 300m or longer are a piece of cake.

Good job! If I remember well the Gewehr 98 was preceded by the Swedish model 96 which is considered one of the most accurate guns of the end of the XIXth century. The gunsmiths knew what they were doing :)

Gewehr 98 led to the Kar98, and the Kurtz version after it. According to people I know and what I've read, good rifle.

They need to make the stripper clip reload be true to the gun by making the clip flip off when the bolt is pushed forward instead of the guy pushing it off.

That laser beam accuracy and bullet speed is just a godsend

Carbine variant is a beast for aggressive snipers. On closer quarters maps i pair it with frommer stop for a quick 1-2

+KriticalKris I hate to bug you on this but the m1903 was not designed after the Gewehr 98. It was designed after the failure of the Krag-Jorgenson after the end of the Spanish American war when Us troops armed with Krags went head to head with Spanish troops armed with Spanish 93 mausers. After the war ended, the Ordinance department of the Army decided that the Krag was massively inferior to the Mauser and decided to build a better rifle. The 1903 used a lot of designs from the Mauser rifle and the ordinance department actually did pay Mauser for royalties on the patents the 1903 used up to 250,000 dollars. The whole lawsuit that the US Ordinance department faced was from Spitzer (or pointed bullets) used in the updated 30-06 cartridge. DWM held the patent on the spitzer design and when they asked for royalties from the Ordinance department, they were denied and rejected. The lawsuit (which started in 1913) dragged on into the early parts of 1917 when the US entered the war, took the patent rights away and basically cancelled the court case all the while continuing production of the 30-06 cartridge. After the war ended a US committee investigated the matter and finned the Ordinance department 300,000 plus interest which was to be paid directly to DWM. I recommend Checking out Forgotten weapons page on weapons from BF1. Ian McHollum is a very good at researching controversies like this and has busted a lot of common gun lore and legend like the Mauser vs Us Ordinance lawsuit.

I love the G98 Infantry, since I can kill people at long and short range. Irons FTW! Much longer range than the SMLE and decently fast, I only have to duck behind cover while I rechamber before poping out and killing my opponent.

I hit a 9 man feed with the Gewehr m98 Infantry with no hitmarkers in close range! I have no clue how I did it but I wish I was recording it.

I've found that I much prefer the infantry sniper rifles over sniper variants. Marksman loadouts are completely foreign to me as I find the optics too bulky. Since I game primarily on console I'm at a disadvantage with limited resolution though

I found a glitch where I can use the gewehr 98 on any class, it sometimes gets replaced with an SMLE MKIII, it is listed below the assignment guns.

Only guns in bf1 should be bolt actions. So this, the lee Enfield, the Springfield, etc

I have a converted g98 to k98 due to sling swivel and straight bolt, in horrible condition with basically no rifling, a lot of rust, and still shoots.
