This was the height of Battlefield. My only gripe at the time was why they didn't have carrier ships you can drive as you could in BF1942 but nonetheless it was the BEST Battlefield ever. Just remake this game with BF BC2 destruction and BF3 tanks. Too much to ask for and have sadly abandoned this series since they lost their vision a long time ago with EA at the helm.
@@jesseveldman1488 well kinda... EA's message to Revive never really forced them to shut down, just stop destribution of the game copy. There's been a lot of drama over why Revive made it look like they were forced to shut down and last time I checked their Discord rules stated that they do not want the project mentioned anymore.
@@wildwest1832 likely very true going years back now. Had so much home for after BF2 and their expansions. But have been disappointed. I had fun in BF3 and BF4 but after BF4 I've had enough of the disappointment. I vote with my wallet since then. I won't tell others what to do but for me I'll buy if if it's worth it... To me it just isn't worth it anymore. Sad because I love Battlefield. At least his it used to be and the direction and potential it had. Maybe one day I'll be happy with a Battlefield but won't hold my breath.
if you had 2gig of ram back then u were a big boy.. ud load into the game so much faster then 95% of the playerbase so you would always have first dibs on jet or chopper
You know this isn’t really said that much but I really miss bots in MP games call me crazy but I like playing with my friends in a private match mode where we can have bots on our team and vs bots on the opposite.
me as well. BF tried to compete with COD/COH style singleplayer, which I appreciate, but COD and COH are already offering that, among other shooters. bots in MP map is still fun just to practice with, or you just want to play smoothly while your wifi is down or has a horrendous connection.
I come from a family of nerds so we all had our own computers and then some. Had enough to host a lan party with friends. Start the server then take the disk to another computer join the server and repeat until everybody was on the server. Had a group of 4 of us and told them we were gonna do a little challenge. All of the bots vs us. They agreed and we went at it. What I didn't tell them was I installed a Zombie mod. So we had 60 bots with glowing red eyes and blood stains always trying to stab us.
This game means so much to me. I remember this being the first game I ever played. I sat on my dads lap and either I’d be keyboard or mouse and he’d be the opposite. I was so tiny that my hands couldn’t even reach from mouse to keyboard. I eventually got so good I was beating my dad. I’m not sure if this was real or if he just wanted to make me feel good. I love battlefield ❤️
I still have the original box and disc... use to love playing this in 2005 online with 64 players... use to run it on my pentium4 3.2ghz, 1GB DDR, Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Great video, slight correction: at 10:03, you call the jet a Harrier. While it is similar to the Harrier in that it uses STOVL technology to take off and land, it's actually a much more advanced aircraft, the F-35B. For reference, the jet seen at 13:54 is a Harrier
I really like how you put the Chinese theme in towards the end there. It really fit well with your talk about mods and everything else afterwards. Gave it a more epic feel.
Battlefield 2 was BF at it's peak it's sad how dumbed down the series is now what I wouldn't give for this series to go back to it's roots but sadly that will never happen.
@@captainsunburn8510 Because the old style gameplay would be to hard for modern BF fans alot of them come from COD. EA also wouldn't want to risk making a harder BF game and lose money because it might scare off the casual market.
This was the first FPS game I really enjoyed. The freedom to do what you want and go anywhere you want, free of an annoying task list is missing in subsequent games. I think BF2 was originally planned to be a much bigger, more ambitious project, because it has a bit of a chopped-down feel. Like whomever was in management cut out a lot of very impressive features, leaving behind a few remnants which don't really fit with the game.
The PKM was the most underrated gun in the game - if you single or double tapped with the PKM it was disturbingly accurate. I got accused of hacking so many times because of PKM distance kills. Then you could get in close and spam an area with it. It was an awesome all round weapon.
@@bigbitehood1353 I think what Jon mean is that usually most of the people don't like futuristic shooters as it does not generate more money, people are more to real time ones. But I think 2143 was a great game.
its not even close, at 31 years old i look back at my BF2 days an easily conclude it was one of the greatest gaming times ever, and its not like i dont forget all the flaws this game had such as terrible hit rego (melee someone 4 times to get a kill even though it was a 1 hit kill)
I used to play on the Chinese team and always swim across to the carrier and steal their F-35. Even more annoying was I manage to hover over the carrier and rain hell on spawning troops. lol. Those who banned the ability to capture carrier are sore loser. Good times...
BF2 wasn't perfect, but with the exception of overpowered jets and attack helicopters, it got the Battlefield formula so right. The franchise hasn't reached this level since.
WHY DID THEY REMOVE THE COMMANDER AND WAYPOINT SYSTEM I usually don’t flame on games and series, but it’s been such a painful 19 years hoping they’d revive cross team and squad communication (which should be a simple feature to implement) and yet they continue to deprive us
You can download it for free and i think you need a couple more things like the bf2 hub to download to get to play online the games still alive and kinda rocking just search up bf2 download on youtube or something
Battlefield 2 was.... ok at best, modern setting in Battlefield is always so boring, 😴 a damn snooze fest. Except for bad company, that was the only fun modern setting for Battlefield. Battlefield 4 is the absolute most overrated game ever! The campaign was fun, but the multiplayer is just.. yeahh. Full of team killers, trolls, team flashbangers, people blowing up your ammo box to throw theirs down and so on. Overratedfield 4 got old quick!!
