Thanks for all the BF4 content the past few years Rav. Been enjoyable. I look forward to your thoughts on BFV when it releases this fall. I have concerns, but again I’m not going to express them here for reason of nothing more than speculation and opinion. I feel you and others as veterans have different concerns or wants out of the series that most likely don’t line up with mine. But if anyone wants more info beyond the trailer for what’s changing and coming in BFV, JackFrags and Westie each did long 20-25 minute videos discussing information they were told by DICE yesterday before the reveal event which most of it was not discussed in the event for some reason. Lots to talk about that is changing so that’s why the videos are so long. But, just more for anyone to check out to develop further opinions.

The Battlefield V trailer was bad imo. I liked the BF1 trailer way more. I mean graphics, soundeffects, cinenatics obviously 10/10, but since its an EA/Dice game i expect that. What i didnt liked was the fact that i looked like COD: fortnite. The Hipster squad in the beginning, the goddamn cyborg women and the american solider with the katana. I also didnt liked the overscripted “gameplay“, either you have pure gameplay or pure cinematics. I expected a fully cinematic trailer with the awesome BF soundtrack like in BF1, wich gives a WW2 feeling. The didnt even had a new cool soundtrack. :( I am also a not a fan of the whole customization thing. Like we could see that there are skins for the face, guns, clothes. Thats whats EAs gonna make money with, but i dont want to fight against 32 different looking soliders! Thats not immersive, takes away the WW2 feeling and gameplay wise i think its also not good. What i love is the fact that there wont be premium anymore, like they said in the live stream. I also think that this “tides of war“-thing could be pretty nice. Sounds like Seasons with new maps/operations/guns to me, and its for free. Well, no matter what, i preorderd still (Sorry for bad english)

I’d have to say my biggest gripe is regarding all of the negative comments surrounding the trailer. I’ve read comments about a “robot” arm the soldier is using. Look, it’s a prosthetic and supposedly customizable option of your soldier. How is that going to affect your gameplay experience in a negative way? Answer, it won’t. How about the fact that a character in the game is a female? Does that affect your in game experience? No. I guess people are always looking for something to complain about. If it’s fun then I’ll play it. It doesn’t have to be historically accurate or pay homage to fallen soldiers of WW2. It’s a VIDEO GAME. Let’s not forget that this is a super quick “teaser” trailer of the game not a true in game experience.

Re: BF5. One interesting thing is the change that you won't regen health to full 100 without a med pack. On one hand I like this, the current way is a little too lenient, imo. It's good that there's going to be more reward for just tagging enemies. On the other hand it's going to make medic gadgets a bit irrelevant. In BF1 I always have the syringe, but not always a med pack. In BF5 it will make no sense whatsoever to leave the med pack out.

I have seen the new trailer\some concepts from Twitter and I can't really say anything yet. Its way too early to judge the game and predict its lifespan. I've learned from experience that I'm not a good predictor of things like this (for example I liked AW and have played BF1 since its release) but looking at the amount of color and activity in the trailer gives the impression that the game at least will be amazing visually.

My unsorted thoughts about BF Vagina ( why do they call it V and not 5? ) : Unless gameplay will convince me otherwise, I'm not gonna play BFV. I didn't like the changes that they did transitioning from BF4 ( / Hardline ) to BF1, and most of the time DICE makes the next BF based on the previous BF, you've said that too iirc and it's true. The gameplay part of the trailer ( if it IS actual gameplay ) seems similar to BF1. I really don't want to play a "BF1 DLC" as I didn't like BF1 a lot and quit that game rather fast. Also, I have played my share of WW2 shooters, and the limitations a specific setting gives a game make multiple games in the same setting boring, as you'll be using the same weapons, live through the same battles and play on the same maps and all of that stuff, the only different thing about all of that is how the gameplay is actually like, and that's not making me spend that many bucks on a shooter that might or might not be a better one than the other ones I've played so far. Especially because DICE has made BF1 feel rather immersive than good; They wanted you to experience the first world war instead of good gameplay, and I guess they're gonna do the same thing with BFV, making you play more of an immersive WW2 shooter than a good WW2 shooter. Seems like DICE tries to get some "political correctness" running with a female main character ( or important character ) in the single player, unnecessary imo, but I guess they're saving themselves the trouble with irrelevant tumblr critics or whatever.

really not too sure to make of the whole Battlefield V trailer reveal, doesn't really give you a true indication of how a game of conquest will play out. I'm only going to be citing things that I heard in JackFrags 25 min video about the game, I'm assuming since they're doing away with premium that the "cosmetic" items that go with your player/weapon will be mostly micro transaction based, only a guess but EA gotta make money somewhere. I like that they're doing away with visual recoil but if suppression is still in the game, what's the point? Being primarily a console player, my major concern is with the "aim assist" mechanic. If it's still as prevalent as it has been in Bf4/1 I don't see it to be a "skillful" experience, reduces the skill gap by miles with "auto rotation" being a thing, basically gives a small amount of aim bot to a player when initially ADS, there's a reason why the SMLE carbine was the most used sniper in bf1. As for other aspects of the game, less ammo/health etc, could promote more of a slower play-style than previous titles. still got to play it before I can really get my judgy pants on though. hopefully the game isn't as broken on release as every single other title since BF3 has been.

The only thing I'm concerned with is the lack of Premium AND lootboxes. I love the change, but I worry EA might shaft actual content because of it. That and the soldier customization, I hope it doesn't affect how easily you can identify classes, as with the new spotting system this is gonna be even more important. Hope soldier identification doesn't get destroyed because of this. My smallest concern is the recoil patterned guns. DICE always used horizontal recoil to control balance, with higher rof weapons having worse DPS at range than lower rof weapons. This could be killed off with recoil patterns unless they add some degree of randomness to it. Not to mention that spread is supposedly getting reduced (which again, could give us the same issue). Bf1 did a pretty good job at dictating weapon ranges with its recoil and FSSM system, I hope they don't drop all that and cater to idiots. Game design isn't a democracy. Another one that could be bigger is the assymetrical vehicle balance. Could turn into anotther "little bird main" situation. Overall the changes seem wonderful. more interaction, less handholding (animations can be canceled, like reviving), the new squadspawning. So many potentially great things. My favorite bit right now is the colors. No more just grey's n browns, finally some fucking color back into the series. People are screaming it's disrespectful to WW2 vets, fuck those people, I want a beautiful game instead of some boring war horror bullshit.

I hate the trailer. When has Battlefield ever needed to make CGI bullshot (yes bullshot not bullshit) to make their games look cool? And they tried to be "funny". I also have no problem with female soldiers but only WHEN. IT. MAKES. SENSE. Who is this weird ass cyborg lady in WWII? When we said we want a fresh take on WWII, we meant go back to unseen theaters of war like Russia and the Pacific and Asia. Not some obscure WWII hidden secret shit. That's supposed to be reserved for DLC. But the new gameplay details sound sweet. A slower, more tactical take on Battlefield. The revive system sounds great. And for once, no more health regen? People have been asking for that for ages. (This is from JackFrags' Twitter). I guess I'll wait and see. But from pure aesthetics alone, I'm not feeling this Battlefield.

Honestly I'm not interested in the new BF game in the slightest. The trailer gave off more CoD vibes then an actual CoD trailer could. Hope others have fun on it, but I'm most likely done with the series, much like I was done with CoD 8-10 years ago. Which is terribly sad since I've been a huge BF fan since the first Bad Company game. Maybe 5 will be good, but I doubt it with all the dumb crap they did in BF1 the last year... Thankfully there are games like SQUAD and Post Scriptum, as well as Rising Storm type games that are still appealing, and not looking like EA went full retar- I mean Activision.

After jackfrags videos where he gives some ACTUAL facts about gameplay, as opposed to that shite trailer, I am cautiously positive about BFV. I like the "attrition" idea, spawning with less ammo, not regenerating to full health, having to physically pick up stuff, buddy revives, being able to drag bodies. Could be cool.

Explosions pushing/effecting player movement, a new form of suppression? Seems Dice are pushing hard for that "real" feel in game experience. You know how Dice/EA works, adds new ideas that don't work. It'll be the same old story, listen to those BF players who get paid to promote. They'll have not a bad word against it.

I'm currently playing bf4 cause I now finally have a pc that can run it. My u5 3470 is till dying but we'll it runs on 60 fps ultra. Doesn't feel smooth but who cares. I find it sad that that bf5 won't be a modern battlefield.... But for real tho. Teach me how to use TOW haha

Ravic, we all know your specs, it would be nice if you also shared your control settings. Mouse sensitivity, key bindings for most commonly used actions, that kind of stuff. You ability to crouch and uncrouch while engaging in a firefight leads me to believe it's at an extremely accessible key/button. Scroll wheel maybe?

It's unfortunate that most of the criticism from the game's reveal is how DICE will be going forward with its perception. Because of this trailer, they have an uphill battle to fight in order to win back some face with the audience. JackFrags' video covering every single aspect of the game's new features did a much better job at explaining everything BF5 has going for it than this trailer that did the exact opposite. The parts of the online forums are set ablaze because of this trailer, and any rational thought has been tossed out the window because of it. This game could turn out to be one of the best BF titles in recent years, and I remain cautiously optimistic about EA's presentation at E3. DICE needs to work twice as hard to explain everything to us, and if they can do that, it'll be smooth sailing from then on out.

I thought that the trailer was pretty shit and a bit confusing; it was very cinematic and gaudy with some pretty far out clown like characters, so I'm not entirely sure if single player or multiplayer was being represented. I'm thinking more single player, but then I have to wonder how similar the single player will be. Only thing I think I can maybe say about actual game play is things like reviving, healing and from the trailer, melee. I read an article on the verge and it said that healing and reviving will be an "involved, animated, and much more personal process" where you "get an up-close view of their buddy’s soldier customizations". If that means every time I go to heal or revive someone I have to watch some bullshit animation where I stick Braveheart with an adrenaline shot in the chest and watch him gasp and come back to life, it's gonna get really annoying. If melee becomes anything like that bit where the German goes "Shhhh" it will also be a pain in ass, coz it seemed very drawn out and he got killed in the end, but really I'm guessing that was just a campaign cinematic. Other than that I'm really not sure, too little information to make a real judgement. I guess I could bitch and moan about forced diversity and historical inaccuracy, which is very annoying to me and doesn't belong in a battlefield game, but I don't see them changing that anytime soon, and besides, I kinda forgot about it in BF1. Going on from this, I hope that the aesthetic of the game isn't too wacky, because I've always enjoyed the more serious, realistic look and feel of battlefield games. But tbh I've got no clue lol, hope it's good.

Aside from the political ramifications which i'll leave aside I'm curious how the gameplay for BFV will be but I'm not holding onto any false hope that it's going to be amazing or even as good as BF1 or BF4

None of the changes/new features actually sound good to me but I think on the whole thats probably just resisting change and theyll likely be ok but I am seriously worried by the "building"stuff, I just dont see the big gain and can just see it being really boring/frustrating in play and more than likely just be abused by campers.

The trailer was clearly trying to generate hype, but they failed on the front. It was pretty bad, one of the worst battlefield trailers they have put out in my opinion. Also it seems like it was either done in the co-op mode or trying to show off what the co-op mode would look like and that was a bad play from them. In regards to other aspects that came out of the reveal and press release. They seem to be trying to slow the game way down so that you have to be more tactical with you and your squads play style. The building seems to be a good way to deal with the problem where often maps will turn into a flat wasteland that is incredibly hard to push, so that is good. In terms of gunplay, healing, revives and ammo it seems promising but we really won't know until we get are hand on it. (most of the info I am referencing comes from the reveal stream and jackfrags/westies videos)

I didn’t mind the trailer but i can see where people would have a problem. I need to see game play to like the game and based on what i have heard about it, it seems to have a larger skill curve than bf1 and i will probably like the game. People are too salty about the fortifications feature and the whole women in ww2 thing tho.

I think the reveal trailer betrayed Battlefield V a bit. From the information we've been given the game could turn out great - the trailer just showed absolutely nothing relevant to that info.
