they put so much effort into making real and immersive sound and weapon design and then threw it all out the window with the reloading part, still great though. wonder if theyll ever do a BC3? probably not but id buy it

The reason they did that because people complained that reloads took too long in the first Bad Company, so they decided just to shorten the animation and leave out the “chamber a round” part But DICE was never good at making immersive reload animations, they either remove realism from the animation or make it look too stiff and robotic BF3 was the first game where they actually animated separate reloads for tactical and empty reloads, and in BF4 upped that a little bit by adding 2 empty reload animations for some weapons, which are slightly different from the default animations, ex. The SCAR H’s alternate reload is the character turns the gun a little more sideways, not a big difference but noticeable. They did the same again in BF1, the Model 8 had a very alternate reload where the character would use the new magazine to push the empty one off instead of just using their hand.

The second and last game in the BF or in any modern shooter title to use environmentally enhanced sounds. These sounds will change dynamically depending on the type of area you are on. (Thick forest, plain or a building)

gabrocki Indeed. My OCD gets triggered over how most guns have no bolt pulls and Shotguns having such low ammo. The SPAS-12 had half its ammo ffs!

Even though most of the models are mirrored and the animations aren't always correct, it's the impact and force of the guns that the designers really tried to sell and they did it wonderfully.

It’s bad company 1 + battlefield 1943 + medal of honor animations re-used and edited to be faster, the re-used animations from bad company 1 are buggy cause on bad company 1 was capped 30 fps, so there’s a lot of reasons… as an animator i think the animations were animated set in 30fps, making em horrible and with some glitchs for more than 30fps, the same glitches occur if you emulate bad company 1 above 30 fps

@@RM50507bad company 2 also came out during the 7th gen of consoles.. so it wouldn't surprise me that they animated 30fps because of the limitations of the consoles. also responsible for a lot of the bad ports to PC at the time. i would not know about bc2 because I was on Xbox 360.

it is the A4, if you look closely you can see that the carryhandle is a seperate part and it also has the nuts on the right side since all the weapons are mirrored in this game.

@SAA Actually, RPG-7 is equipped with special design scope by default, iron sights on it is just backup. Google "PGO-7V scope"

It's all reused from Bad Company 1. In it, the magazines were bigger (50 in most ARs & up to 60 in most SMGs & Carbines), the Time-To-Kill was higher, and the reloads longer. Whilst all three of those were being reduced for Bad Company 2, a lot of the weapons had their charging handle animations removed, presumably as it was deemed far more efficient to simply do that and add a sprint animation for the weapons and leave it at that (Much of the significant changes were in the ballistics & gunplay anyhow). They had a lot less bass in their sound assets too (But I imagine they introduced that to provide far more clarity to gunfire as it was easily drowned out by the copious quantity of audio emitters clouding the soundscape). And of course, you barely see 'em showcased as Bad Company nor Battlefield 1943 ever made it to PC, naturally making it less convenient than running your game & clicking the hotkey on your favourite capture software.

I honestly wish they'd bring back the old hand guard and stock for the AEK, they just looked SOOO sexy even though they were modeled off the prototype they look much nicer than the ones in BF3/4.

Awfully inconsistent weapon models and animations. Why have some models realistic and some flipped so they eject the brass to the left and supposedly look more cool that way... And with few weapons is the first round chambered after reloading a fresh mag. I just don't get it.

The devs probably knew how guns worked mechanically and decided to go the stylistic route with BFBC2. While inaccurate, some of these are super satisfying with their playful, punchy, crashy and twangy effects and anims. Kinda makes MW look and sound a little too serious, but I guess that has its appeal too

I like the m16 reload because of the way you pull the charging handle back, but I though that ur supposed to hit the bolt release on the side 2...

Ok, so M93R is the most inaccurate of this game because it didn't have a folding grip ( or handguard because IDK how to say that ) and it has a chrome M9 models so the slide, the safety lever (aka. the thing that change mode semi/burst/full ) is the most inaccurate thing in the gun. However the hammer and the trigger is pretty good.

Why are there ww2 guns in the game? Most animations are horrible, and wrong ammo counts is painful! But the sound effects are brilliant!

skintrade The game begins in WW2 in the campaign, and the WW2 weapons in multiplayer were a special unlock for BF veterans. Then the Vietnam DLC added a 'Nam themed skin for them.

skintrade yeah the type 5 was an m1's garand copy but it wasn't reloaded via enblok it used two arisaka type stripper clips

@@cantremember6794 It's not dead at all, pretty much always a dozen servers with 32/32 slots all day long. Not a hugely populated game, but not dead at all. Could be worse.

@@cantremember6794 Yeah, you can pretty much write off the console version of this game. Even a few years ago I started up this game on Xbox 360 and I couldn't even get a match with more than 6 people. I'd suggest you try pc, the game is still a lot of fun there and fairly populated.

M1a1 thompson the m1a1 thopson has the bolt on the side, and the thopson in this game is a mix of m1a1 thompson and m1928 thompson because look a bolt in the up of the gun and the barrel of an m1a1 tho pson

This was before guns needed absolute realism with a round left in the chamber, meaning a different reloading animation played.

Which btw costs dev resources to make for literally every fucking gun in the game alone for a specific reload. Not necessary in BFBC2/BFBC1 since it was simplified that's all and that's okay.
