Exactly. He may not have won his Black Crusades, but he always got something of value from each one, from Drach'nyen to Cadia getting wrecked.

What would constitute winning? Total destruction of the imperium? The goal is too big to be accomplished all at once. Their best shot at that died along with Horus. But if they destroy it piece by piece they have a far better chance of achieving that.

@@lesterramos6468 Technically his Black Crusades were successful. Each one had a clear objective that lead into the next campaign, and now he's been able to destroy Cadia on his most recent campaign. It's only a matter of time before he moves toward Terra.

​​​@@Spartan135Chaos is the opposite of Order. That's why the Imperium is sometimes seen as "fascist" and oppressive, it is imposed Order at whatever cost, through whatever mean. To those who stand for it, it is good; to those who don't, it is something to rebel against even if they can't actually propose a significantly preferable, long-term alternative solution. The fact that those who fell to chaos are often inherently evil BUT NOT ALWAYS, is telling: many of them have a respectable if not shareable motive for doing so - at least from their perspective. Angron; Magnus; Alpharius; Perturabo; hell, even Horus and Fulgrim became total assholes only once the corruption flourished inside of them. Very few of them are like cartoonish villains that want to "conquer the world to do what? To destroy it!". Some of them revel in total chaos to indulge in their sadistic or egotistical, maniacal proclivities. But most of them don't. It's a Chaos vs. Order story, not a Evil vs. Good one. That's why we can see nuances of both in both sides. :)

e21big Look at the shadow in the cave. At the end of the campaign the deceiver reappers. It is not helping Abaddon. He is using him and the Imperial navy as tools to destroy the fortresses which were built by the Old ones to stop the Ct'ans

@@JoeSmith-sl9bq Horus was leading half of the Imperium and failed Abaddon is only truly leading the Black Legion because the other traitor legion can't follow a plan (berserker, Slaaneshi warriors...) and he managed to cut the Imperium in two and destroying the second strongest planet of Mankind (Cadia) without being a Primarch !

While Abaddon has to "gather his rivals" and fight with what he got against fortified Imperium, against Necrons, against Eldar...and almost certainly against Tyranids.

Abaddon has been fighting a rotting imperium with no primarchs and after nearly 10,000 years he finally spilt the imperium in half. Which Gulliman had basically undone a good amount of the damage. (saving the light side and ensuring Dante and his angels would protect the other half). Abaddon is like a B-tier character who got his ass kicked by a crystaling wizard in melee combat, had a hard fight with Calgar. if Guilliman and Abaddon fought Abaddon would be low diffed.

He had really long time to damage the Imperium and most of Chaos forces at the command + powers of chaos gods and although Black crusades were hard hits for the Imperium, Abaddon could probably do much more with so many forces and much faster, yet he wasn´t able to do it.

He only helped Abaddon because he knew the Imperium and Eldar would stop him by destroying the BFs Another way to describe the Deceiver's plan would ultimately be "asset-denial," in that he made sure the BFs were removed from the playing field as well as reducing the numbers of three opposing factions

... I don't actually know if that's the case. What I =do= know is that he crashed another one into Cadia to blow it up. I think there might be one more remaining, which is nowhere near as much of an issue for the C'tan as six would be
