I was there!! What a game and what a fight! In this stadium i saw the All Blacks (Fox, Kirwan, Jones, etc) the Wallabies (Horan, Gregan, Lynagh) and of course France (we beat them 25-23). The glory era of Tucuman rugby!
Brilliant reminds me of some of the old club rugby games back home in Wairoa, Hawkes Bay NZ. Good on the Springboks for not taking a backwards step. That lot in Tucuman must be related to my whanau in Wairoa ? I played against the Argentine Team Pucara ( under 23 yrs ) in Waikato New Zealand back in 1981 and it was 90 per cent brawling as opposed to a game of rugby. We knocked out 5 of their players because they blind hit 2 of our players. But thats rugby. After the game we all had a good feed and celebration. I like the Argentinians because they are passionate buggers on the rugby field. Just like my Maori whanau are.
Friend, I did not see anyone hide despite having an indisputable physical inferiority. And I tell you more: I saw several players in green lying on the floor ...
sprinbocks dirty game, more fight than play the game, i was at the stadium that night, the bocks never expected a team like Tucuman. This was recognized by NZ Walter Little back in 1992. Tucuman one of the best teams ever...
It must be nice on your planet Jose. Teams that try to take on the Boks get a nasty surprise. The Bokke dont take a step backwards and meet fire with fire
Typical South African bullshit. You guys all think that you are hardmen. Rugby is a collision sport so anyone playing is going to be geared up. But you guys are worse than the Yanks thinking that you are just wonderful. I've seen it all the time with Safas. In other sports as well.
Well at Tucuman the Bokke not only won the game, they also won the fight. Those Tucuman fighters (you can't call them players) should've been banned for life.
I heard about this game and it was historic for the Argentinian rugby. But I can tell that things back then were pretty different. I mean the game was pretty dirty and totally lack of discipline. Lol what if Nigel Owens would've been the ref in this game.
I actually preferred the way the game was played back then, these days we have players being held back by their jerseys, obstruction and all kinds of other things that are borderline illegal that go unpunished, -in the "bad" old days the players sorted that out on the field and "dirty" players didn't last long. I don't like Nigel Owens and I don't think he is a good referee, he's a bit like a hysterical fanboy for the All Blacks.
@@MrSweetaz Well the game did change a lot since the old days. In fact, about the obstruction thing that you're pointing and players being held back, I heard that some rugby coaches (tier 1 nations) actually specialize in those game actions and include it on the training. One last thing, there's a lot of refs that could be consider "all black fan boys" and are very biased but I think Owens' criteria is one of the few that don't interfere with the game. After all the Boks came back with an amazing victory from Wellington and you know who was the assigned ref for that match.
kick Argentina out of the tri nations. allow the winner of the six nations to play instead. And vice versa. The winner of the tri nations play's in the six nations. The sixth nation could be one of the tri nations.
This is something I don't miss from the amateur era. Touring sides being subjected to non stop violent tactics from inferior opponents trying to make a name for themselves and get their 15 minutes of infamy.
never knew about this. good old days. too much money in rugby now. if this happened today 3/4 of both teams players would be banned from playing for a year or more
Keith Andrews..propper Legend, you'd be a fool to mess with him, Bullet.. well we all know what he was about and fair play to the rest of the lads too on that day even Tiaan Strauss who was the model professional of his time wasn't having any of it. Go Bokke we don't have to be intimidated by anyone anywhere EVER.
That was province of Tucumán team. Imagine if there were the national team. That' springwankers team would go back to his country with they arse bleeding.
@@therolinga79 the tour included 2 test matches against "los Pumas" (arg. National team) but nothing to compare with Tucuman province of those days. A very fierce team!
And Maori ABs in late 80s but that was mainly crazy Tucuman fans Buck Shelford was gonna take the team off if they didn't stop throwing shit onto the feild 😮
Hay una diferencia entre un partido de rugby y una pelea en un bar. Tuchmans en este juego sólo tenía un objetivo. Y eso fue para ver si pueden ganar la pelea no el partido
Not really fair comparing a prop with a hooker, but that said I've never really rated Dalton. A bit too much mouth and not enough shirt in my opinion. A much better hooker was a certain Uli Schmidt, a guy I played with at school rugby level.
Well obviously you havent seen players like Bernie Fraser,Grant Batty,Mark Shaw,Steve McDowell,Buck Shelford,Keith Skinner,Keith Murdoch etc,all of them All Blacks and a match for Rod Snow.
