A redirecting prism with only one beam as input does not weaken the beams in the same way as a 2+ combination does, but beams also degrade with distance, so if you snake beams through long paths a small amount of damage is lost.
Actually it's the opposite, beams degrade over distance true, but if a beam hits a Prism, it resets the distance. So if you snake a beam through a long series a prisms, it will actually extend the range of the beam.
@@Kryto_Gaming The beam strength does indeed decay when snaked over distance, I just tested it in free build mode. Try putting two ions side by side, but one has only one prism while the other has 12 prisms going back and forth across an entire ship length. The long traveling beam is not only much weaker, it is visually thinner as well. I speculate this is because the prism resets the range, but it takes whatever the is the incoming beams current damage and sets it as the new base damage, which then deteriorates over distance by the same equation as the original damage.
Interesting, it seems that if you play long enough, eventually, you find yourself making exotic spinners with internal detachment. It's as close to a 'ufo' I believe you can get with quick directional/rotational movement. 👍 I made a gigantic spinner with large deck cannons...amazing effect.
it's more of a niche but mobile spinner forts (msf) are the most effective way to get omnidirectional thrust because you can have all forwards thrust and point in any direction
also they have the highest defense of any ship type with some designs like railf fans not having enough dps to get through. They are fairly weak to nukes and deck cannons as they can't change directions fast enough to dodge those slower weapons
Nice, glad to see my funny gigantic ultralight spinner as the thumbnail. It's been a long dang while since I've been on this amazing series, it's an honor once again!..
19:28 this match is much easier to watch than the previous one, maybe you could require combatants to have good internet connections otherwise it's just so painful to watch the lagfest
