A technical masterpiece, Battleship Potemkin is Soviet cinema at its finest, and its montage editing techniques remain influential to this day. --Rotten Tomatoes
Is Amazing how Eisenstein used every image, every photography to build up the dramatic momentum and the climax of the film. He took every image and ordered it to compose the scene so that the pathos could take place ❤
I saw this film sometime in 1980's when i was a school going child and it came in DD National channel. Loved this movie, It said Battel ship Potemkin rises
yes sir, i have also see this great movie at the time of 1984-85 when i was studying my Post graduation course at SV University in Tirupathi. USSR film festival arranged in India for 3 weeks at that time. DD National Channel screend all the old and new Russian films at night time. 40 years later i am again seeing this master peace with hd quality.
In the time of "CORONAVIRUS WORLD WAR - 3" in 2020 when your own life is at the hands of a invisible pandemic it's cinema that breaks all barriers and provides solace and entertainment. Have been gorging on "ART CINEMA" during the enforced Lockdown in Mumbai and this is the oldest produced film that i am seeing although have read about "BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN" since a student in school. As a Ex "Marine Engineer" officer in the "Merchant Navy" having sailed the seas onn/Of for 24 years could identify with this movie although the functioning of the "NAVY" and "MERCHANT NAVY" is a World apart. It was wonderful seeing the "Reciprocating Steam Engines" chugging in the Potemkin's Engine room reminding me of my own sea sailing years although i worked on the maintenance of the ship's diesel engines.Excellent movie and unbelievable that it was produced in 1925 with most of the star-cast having been born in the 19th century ! Ahoy!
hey ! can anyone help me with pointing out a montage in the film of discontinuity ? please and thank you, I'm having some trouble find a moment. I'm not sure I understand it correctly.
I’ve been wondering the same thing and have been looking tirelessly for the last 13 years……..I still can’t find any info about this particular version of the score and who composed it……
I'm with radiotec that I have been studying films since college but never seen this one. WOW!! Incredible. Seems like being Russian has always sucked. One more thanks for the posting.
I’d give my soul to be able to get my hands on the this particular version of the film’s score……or at the very least know the name of this piece of music (if it wasn’t composed specifically for this film……I know it’s had multiple scores written for it over nearly the last century……)
Search for: enno patalas battleship potemkin and in the search results will be an article from the producers of this restoration version on the score used. I did post the link previously, but it has been deleted.
It's interesting in the comments section here because you have hardcore leftists and conservatives arguing yet nobody is arguing against this being a great movie. It's way more entertaining than I thought it would be.
Our opinion is good or bad not propaganda or not please! If matter is good even if it is a propaganda, then let be appreciated and let propagate the propaganda for good cause!
Yeah, its first wave woke crap social commentary-wise, but what's significant about this technical-wise, is the technical use of montages. That's the good thing aside the score.
@@jamie_mkv Thats were ur wrong my boi. This is a much more PURE propaganda. The sole reason for the existence of the movie is propaganda. The fact that it happens to be one of the greatest films of all time is sheer coincidence (in the sence that it didnt want to be a good movie, just a good propaganda).
i like this movie and i'm british, the country that banned it for years for being "too revolutionary" 😂 actually i love most soviet cinema, and soviet lenses too x
