We're back with another video as Travis continues to show yall around some of the interior spaces of Texas! This time Travis will be showing you around Auxiliary CIC and it's function on board ship. While very similar to main CIC, there are some key differences and Travis is more than happy to explain what's what inside!
Since I know Travis doesn't look at the descriptions, I have a question for you lucky few that do. What do you want us to play on Twitch, once it's set up? World of Warships seems to be the consensus but Hearts of Iron 4 looks pretty fun.
If you would like to volunteer with us, check out our website here:
battleshiptexa...
Be sure to follow us on instagram, facebook, twitter and our update page in order to stay up to date on what's going on around the ship!

I absolutely love your videos and hope and pray that they will continue. They help show us the ship and educate us. Keep us informed on what is happening on ship during her refurbishment.

Love hearing all the nerdy details about the ship and how it operates. Please keep doing the videos.

Keep these videos coming! Also the external picture pointing out which antennas you are referring to was helpful. Cant wait to get back down to the ship in person

Well done Travis and the crew keep these videos coming it's great seeing different parts of the ship. Especially for us overseas who would never get the chance to ever visit the battleship texas, maybe do some VR videos so it can give a true scale of the ship and the places on board in the future if possible. If its safe to do so how about a video of the inside of the fighting top where the rangefinders were located it would be very interesting how this now empty space once worked thankyou

Hey Travis ... no "pity-like' here, you earned it :-) This is a great video! That 40's AC unit is not unlike my 2020 window AC (without the plastic cover).

11:25 i love how casual you say that "until they can be shot at and intercepted... And then the raid would disappear" I am sure in actual war situation there would be a lot more enthusiasm in that room when the raid disappears from the radar.

Hey, for a future video... could y'all maybe do a video about the the forward & aft Half Deck? They were never accessible on tour and there is almost zero photos of those spaces. TEXAS FIGHT!

Much better stability of the photography, I didn't even need to take dramamine. Thank you. You often mention "motor-generator" sets without explaining what they are for. Mainly to transform DC or ships 60hz AC (which runs the "motor:) to 400hz power for the electronics equipment (the generator side).

I first saw TEXAS when I was a kid, around 1962. THe ship was glorious! The next time I saw it was in 1984 and I was horrified by what I saw!!! In the intervening 22 years, in the interior, everything that could be broken or unscrewed and stolen had been. It was a RELIC at that point. There was standing water in the bottom of the ship with lots of trash floating in it. I'm guessing much of this was just from rain being alowed to enter through open doors. Negligence! Disgraceful!!! The ship had basically been abandoned to the ravages of the disrespecting public, rather than preserved and properly displayed as a museumm piece. It was clear that the proper resources to monitor and maintain the ship had not been provided for a very long time. Now, there is an effort to restore the ship, but where will they find all the proper period fittings to replace all the missing parts? It is terribly sad that the state of Texas allowed this treasure to be pillaged.

Looking at the equipment and thinking about all the heat it must have generated, I bet that compartment was somewhere north of uncomfortable in the Pacific.

Since you mentioned Air conditioning I wonder what the temperature would be inside the ship ( say where the crew sleeps) in the pacific.

Warm and humid. A lot of sailors took cots topside and slept on deck were it was more pleasant.

The SG on the foremast rotates (not energized). The motor for the mainmast SG burned up and needs to be replaced. The SK is a mock-up welded into place -we would love to make it rotate! Perhaps, maybe in the yard we can make it happen….

Was some of the equipment that is missing removed by Navy when she was decommissioned?
@BattleshipTexas
@BattleshipTexas 3 года назад
The Navy removed a big chunk of what is missing for the ship. Ironically, the State paid the Navy to remove it as part of the preparations for coming to Texas.

Get a pistol-grip folding tripod or steadicam setup. That'll make it less of a pain in butt.

Please don't let the renovations in the CIC and Radar 2 room be freely explored in a free for all by the general public visitors. If the annual ticket sales exceed 300,000 you all will need to be very vigilant to protect against vandalism. There should be an option to pay extra for guided tours to see the rooms that are viewable from a distance but the docent or guide needs to unlock doors so groups can see the rooms up close while being monitored against vandalism. The plans you have for the superstructure is fascinating!
