I'm very disappointed with this COBI set, They made this set 50 euros more than it's World of Warships predecessor, only for a difference in the Anti-Air Guns and a small difference in the hull.
looks very cool but a bit annoyed that it's quite pricy for the kinor difference but I guess I don't mind havin Isoroku Yamamoto... well he is my favourite admiral soooo.... history corner! the Yamato-class battleship is the biggest battleship class of all time the IJN Shinano of the Yamato-class is basically the first Super Carrier the whole Yamato-class is filled with misfortune(and Shinano got the most of it) the Yamato is named after the Yamato Province the Yamato almost beat Warspite in longest confirmed hit of a moving target whilst moving(I think that's what it is) the IJN Yamato carries the biggest gun caliber of any naval vessels
As for the name part - Yamato is not just a name of the province. The choice was deliberate. This ancient province was the capital of Japan - containing Nara. Because of that, the ancient, poetic name of the country and its people is Yamato. Even to this day, Yamato is used to distinct ethnic Japanese from minorities like Ainu or Ryukyuan of Okinawa. For imperial/fascist culture of WW2 Japan, this name was somewhat sacred. Generally, naming any ship after a country is a bad idea because of symbolism. In case that ship sinks, for any reasons, it can be seen as a sign of "future fall of the country". That's why Nazi Germany changed Deutschland class lead cruiser name to Lützow in case it was about to sink....and that's also why sinking of Yamato was kept secret for as long as possible from Japanese people because it would demoralize them (even today they can be very superstitious).
@@juanduran345 if Yamato Singlehandedly destroyed Taffy 3, i wouldn't mind. She deserved that win because it was her only chance to go down in History.
I'm also currently building this ship. It's overall a great design, but two things are a bit annoying: The way the propellers and shafts are attached feels very cheap. It's even visible on the back of the package and for a ship with such many great details, for someone to sign up on this, feels strange. The whole part where the propeller shafts are sitting and the rudders feels a bit "unverdeveloped" in comparison to what I've seen, for instance, with the HMS Hood. Second thing is something COBI needs to take a look at. Brick thickness. It varies here and there and since some of the construction depends on perfect spacing this can result in visible gaps. It goes so far as that I needed to use a nail rasp to rasp some areas so they become thinner, for clearings to become tighter. For a 160€ model this is a bit rediculous! And I've never seen this problem before, I build the Warspite and the Hood.
i'm building the cobi 4833 , but i got missing parts not serious from Cobi but i've got the titanic , bismarck and this one is beautifull to my collection , great ship
