In this alternate reality, why would the Japanese use Kamikaze's if they were about to invade Hawaii?? It makes no sense.

Great walk-through...Only a few moments when I shook my head on your strategy (You should replay this on the "Veteran" difficulty) It gave me a chill for me (as an American) to see Gen. MacArthur signing that Instrument of Surrender (It could have very well have happened...)

i dont really understand your strategy here, why did you send those fighters away from your carriers? you could have used those fighters to prevent your first carrier from dying.

I would have preferred that both carriers survive the bombing, but actually they're not as useful as we would have thought. Blame Eidos for that. Anyway, there are only 3 objectives to complete to get the gold medal. 1. Finish the mission (duh) 2. Sink the blockade before Iowa arrives 3. (Hidden) Launch a scout plane All other factors DO NOT have any effect on the medal you get. So theoretically your force could only have Yamato left but if you manage to complete the mission you would still get a gold medal (although it wouldn't end well in real life lol)

I played this game very long time ago.. And it lead me to play IL-2 1946.

First, upgrade the fighters to shinden (4x30 mm + AA rockets will rip those b29s to pieces). Second, use scout planes to locate the enemy sub. After the b29 wave, I only need 2 shinden squads for cap, and I got gold on veteran mode. How much of an upgrade is the super yamato? I heard they weigh about the same.

If only this had happened along with an Axis Victory worldwide.

So up the Aleutian chain. Maybe use slave labor to build supply bridges between the islands. Then once Mainland Alaska's done, down the coast on through Canada, and invade Washington, with Seattle and Olympia as the prime objectives. I guess Seattle would've been the first major target of the Lower 48, now San Francisco.

I've always wondered why Japan didn't parachute and land TROOPS in Hawai'i ... but then I'm not sure Japan had the materiel and personnel to SPARE? This would be an interesting topic on alternative history boards.

You will never ever become a fleet admiral in any situation. I would understand that you would send your fighters to gain more intel. However you should have kept your battleships and destroyer around your carriers. They would be able to utilise crossfire techniques to overwhelm the bombers. Always remember: the carriers are the key

A really great game but not enough people played the multiplayer, and it relied on GFWL which is a death sentence for a game. Still have fun on it on my 360 because I bought the Super Yamato, Montana and Alaska.

i dont think you need to lead the aim if you are using the AAs of a ship. just aim it directly at the plane.

Too bad they didn't make a soundtrack for this game, that last song they play for the Japanese campaign is my favorite.

This is the second game I have seen where the Yamato class does not look like they did.

this level is a bit hard but i was lucky i win the game like and some how iv fond out an formation that some of you might benefit from it and here is the way i did it 1st your flag ship yamato most be in the center 2nd you have DD on your team send about 4-5 of them to the right of the group 1 DD should be in front of your Flag ship, 2 DD should be in one line so one front and one at the back of the DD, the once you done that put another DD on the right of your DD that's in a line after that stick any DD that are Left and put them at lest 5-8% away from your CV 3rd you have CA ships, I would strongly suggest that you stick them near your lines of DD escorts this will help the DD escorts and both CA and DD will shoot down them incoming level bombers and torpedo planes with out them getting a chance to drop there Bombs on your CV ships 4th your Planes make sure you have all Fighters and kamikazes in the air and get them to attack the level bombers once the planes fly to them go to your flag ship or your escorts you have and start shooting the plans note you will hit yours like but you have no chose unless you want both of your cv to go by by like! so really keep this in mind 5th your Group after sinking the battle group turn your group to the left and all of your ships should be at lest facing at an angle of 40-50% to the left when they do this will give you 70-80% more chance with all of your AA guns shooting down the plans after your done with that then land all of your fighters 6th Lunch Torpedo plans and your deadly kamikazes and go right for the 1st battleship you see in the group that's going to try and stop you from getting to the way point why the battleship? iv found out the battleship is only goal is to sink your CV if you sink all the battleships then your CV are safe as your battleship Yamato will finish of all the rest of the fleet when you done that resend your planes back to get the new Torpedoes back on and make sure you have new kamikazes on you as well 7th the Reinforcements when the last battle group fails to stop you just send all of your planes to attack it once its sunk your done you have finish the last level Now I hope this idea was helpful to you all and sorry if i don't have any photos or videos to show you on what i mean in here but if some of you do understand this then your more then welcome to give this idea a shot as like i said iv done it and iv never lost any of my Ships or my CV'S!

You should of put up a CAP at start of the battle with fighters and let the warships take out the enemy task forces, while the carriers hung in the back. This way when the warplanes came you could of prevented the loss of your carriers. Also using the special destroyer (I think it's the Akizuki) with advanced anti-air capabilsities could of also prevented enemy air power from being so effective. I did this mission on hard with very little casualties.

well,it comfuses me how he doesint care for his aircraft carriers,his last carrier he puts the fire repair on meanwile the health is a quarter down,i would have repaired the body but the way he treated the carriers was like they were no use to him,thats harsh man just plain harsh...

I like how they never thought that america wouldn't give up and they would have too invade the us and then they would wander outside their air cover and our Sherman would destroy their light tanks (the only tanks they had)

Hi I love world war 2 games I played this game and I'm good at this cause in my other games war is stratigy and in this mission I got the gold medal and veteran mode my stratigy as the adimiral of my fleet pls read:I place my two aircraft carriers in the middle so that the B-29 bombers will be ripped to pieces and I send recon plane to scout the area and lauch fighter planes to guard the airspace and the formation for the fleet is that the Carriers in the middle,Battleship in the front:cause battleships are fully armored destroyers and cruisers and the sides aircraft will circle around the fleet and the shiden aircrafts will be pushed in front to shread the incoming b-29 then when Battleship Iowa is near or other enemy ships the carriers will be moved back in the fleet cause of battleship iowa then bombing raid of bomb and torpedo bombers the b-25 and b-29 then done I win in this last part general or adimiral macarthur signed the instrument of surrender then gold medal and suddenly the game was deleted but its fun :D

I don't know is he really reckless or what, but from what i see he created some mistake..... First, not fly any single fighter. Even if your enemy only use naval you still should send a group or 2 fighter to fly above you. Two, i think you manuvering your ship to much....

honestaly the iowa sould've won if it was a real naval battle the iowa would have more cover and It would've aim'ed directaly at superyamato's guns and the battlesouldvve ended when the B-29's came its jusr s fact of bad deving.

They hadnt only light tanks you fool they also had mediums which could easily finish off your "so good" shermans.
