Hello everyone! Today we will be taking a look at the Pacific Remastered Campaign Pack, by Mr Bullseye II. You can download the mod from my website: runsva2012.wix... Or from the ModB page: www.moddb.com/... Take care and enjoy!
I wanted a WW3 game. I imagined launching squadrons of F-14s, A-6s, F-18s and what not off of CV-65 to go up against Soviet Bombers, Missile Cruisers, hordes of tanks in West Germany and so on. And then there's the undersea war between NATO and Soviet attack submarines.
Thank you for providing me with nostalgia and 12 hours of complete naval chaos after re downloading this game.. many souls were lost at sea during this time.
This mission outshines the battle of Okinawa mission from vanilla BSP and by a LOT However this does not mean that it doesn't have flaws that can downgrade the experience. 1: It's too easy Yes it's way easier compared to the remastered Battle of Okinawa, of which is also included in the PRCP. This also includes the Veteran difficulty. The very intro of Remastered Battle of Okinawa has the player locked in AA combat with Kamikaze spam to your carriers as their primary targets. Here your only opposition are: Land Based Aircraft that can easily taken out and AA guns that WILL swat planes easily in veteran difficulty. I was expecting Long Range Bombers/Random Kamikaze or Ohka Carriers from off map that can suddenly surprise you if you don't sent out recon planes but I was only greeted by small amounts of aircraft I have no difficulty of eliminating. For a defense of the Home Islands you'd think that the Japanese would send more aircraft support, specially if a enemy fleet is near home waters 2: The Hidden Objective Ok this one is more of a bug but it's still something to nitpick about. I'll start off with the bug, you can never get the gold medal here because the ground emplacements (missions hidden objective) heals when destroyed. This is must likely due to them still being attached to an HQ were you have to capture them rather than being an independent entity, so even if you destroy the emplacements you still don't technically destroy them as they will regen them. What curious is that there some emplacements that are independent from the HQ controlled ones as you can permanently destroy them. Now for the nitpick: It's boring... for a final mission... yeah it just prolongs the mission rather than adding a challenge to players who want to do things a bit harder. 3: BGM (background music) Over repetitive & does not really fit into the mission, add to the fact that it's just a single short track that keeps repeating itself... Maybe it's just my taste in music but it really feels like it's epic for the need to be epic. The way it even loops/repeats is so bad that it can take away one's immersion rather than adding into it additionally this BGM is also used in the Remastered Battle of Okinawa mission AND the Remastered Invasion of Hawaii mission... afaik... so it starts to wear down on the player after a short while 4: Mission Design; Second Phase The First phase is actually quite great starting from the intro up to the Primary and Secondary Objectives. Now for the main problem: the Second Phase, the Kamikaze Swarm, This was actually great hindsight but until you realize that they are all coming from the same direction then you'd see the problem. This makes them really predictable on subsequent playthroughs as they can be set up to get ambushed by pre placed ships on their path, and the Kamikaze targeting the carriers only is one of the more bizarre things here. Another thing to note here is that all of the players aircraft are forced to be killed. Meaning if you spent most of fighter then you'd most likely going to defend your ships with their own AA fire; and that's another problem, you can finish the second phase with minimal or no air cover, yes you'd take damage but you can shoot ALL of them down (including Ohka Carriers) way to easily (even on Veteran Difficulty). 5: Miscellaneous Just a few more cons that lets down this mission but not that much compared to what's mentioned above. *Lack of enemy variety - especially kamikaze types Remastered Battle of Okinawa had Suicide Boats off map Kamikazes & Zeroes, heck even vanilla Battle of Okinawa had off map Ohka Carriers on Veteran difficulty. *Navigational Hazards - most notably the mined areas, Remastered & Vanilla Battle of Cape Engano had Mined areas that the player must avoid, for naval yard/base you'd think that they would at least have some mines to prevent enemy sub from entering the harbor. Yes you may think that the players wouldn't do that since they would like to preserve their ships but in reality you can send most ships in the harbor and they can still wouldn't be harmed (assuming you do knock out the HQ's first) *Airfield Aircraft - planes that take off from the airfields are not even targeting any other ships apart from the carriers why? Shouldn't they target any other ship that gets to close for comfort? My thoughts and opinion/idea on improving this mission 1)Adjust unit composition depending of Difficulty chosen, it's way to easy to straight up have 9 carriers in the start of the map; make things seem more linear in objectives but multiple ways of approaching and accomplishing the mission i.e.: *Rookie: Start with a fleet (half of which is currently in the mission) and then as you clear up the emplacements and ships around the anchorage you get another half of your fleet and as you near the end the mission (inner anchorage area) you receive off map support/naval supply/an additional carrier(s) *Regular: Small Fleet (perhaps two fleet carriers & the two escort carriers along with some destroyers and a cruiser for escort; progress = additional fleet carriers destroyers and a battleship(s) for AA defense; then as you near the end, you get additional support/naval supply/carriers. *Veteran: Start with Escort Carriers only with destroyers and Cruiser for escort, progress = half of the carriers you have here arrive with a battleship escort, then as you near the end you then you get additional support/naval supply/carriers. 2) The hidden objective really should be changed, as really just makes players go for a long route in the final mission rather than enjoy a good challenge and this is a FINAL mission so the hidden objective should be more of an passive quest rather than an active quest. 3) Yes taste of music varies from person to person but the way it looped in game & used in more that one mission makes of a downside the longer the player progress through the mission. If Change is not desired Perhaps apply it similar to how vanilla themes are, by fading in and out the BGM when in and out of combat. Still you may want to find a remix/modified version of the currently used BGM rather than keeping it as is. 4)The second Phase shouldn't really be kept it breaks the game play, probably make it like mid game event, like if the player destroys both airfield off map kamikaze strikes come in with increasing numbers with every priority target (ships) destroyed and/or if the Shipyards are destroyed then Suicide boats and Kaiten Carriers Spawn of map and try to rush you. 5) Navigation Hazards Minefields Addition, off map Bombers/Ohka Carriers Spawn & Enemy Aircraft Priority changes can keep this mission more tense and exciting as the longer the mission drags out with a single objective/obstacle the more it becomes boring. In summary this mission is fun for a first run but the more you replay it the more may get tired of it, the multiple way you approach the mission is there but the mission doesn't adapt well there are missions in the PRCP that if a player does "this" then it will next part easier but it still add up a challenge. Rating: 7/10 *8/10 if not bugged
Please bring this game back to conceal if it happins I will be one of the first to buy it like no joke I played this when. It was for ps2 and loves it then never got bored of this game and would awesome to see it come back today remastered please bring it back
Can you please PLEASE make a star wars version of battlestations?! Same exact set up but with star fleets!!!!! I'll take 2% of every game sold thank you!
This specific mission was not made by me, but instead by another fellow youtuber. However I have created many missions myself, of which many I have videos too. To create these you have yo manually create scripts and other stuff neccessary, and it would be incredibely difficult for someone with no prior coding experience. However it is doable.
Some History for the "Youts" Lol ........ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attacks_on_Kure_and_the_Inland_Sea_(July_1945)#Aftermath ...... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Kure_(March_1945) .... Enjoy, Semper Fi
Damn, the micro managing in vanilla was underwhelming because the battles are pretty small scale... looks like im gonna love this mod, since i wanted more challenge to my beloved game.
7:32 the background music is Hurricane of adventure by Daniel yount which I believe was made for the series Shadow of Israphel by the Yogscast. Why is it in this game?
Man I'll see your modding tutorials to make some stuff too. I know quite well the battles of both the pacific and the Atlantic. If you have a means for me to contact you we could discuss this further... Thanks!!
I've only got to play the Midway installment of this series was super fun and still play it every once in awhile......anything new coming from these devs? Another game super curious why no more was made is Brother in Arms...
@@lordoftheunderpants6075 i tried it a while back and cudnt get it to work read reviews to see and it was still the same issue with loads of people in the reviews
What you should've done with this mission, is add it to one of the campaign packs rather than adding it to the remastered campaign pack. Infact, all these features you've added into the mods you've created for this game, should be already in this game since it was first released.
