"Sir they are not slowing down, in fact they are going full speed ahead..." "What are they trying to do? If they keep on going... my God..." "Sir?" "They are going to beach the Yamato.. on our island!" *YAMATO THEME STARTS PLAYING*
It's not a real in game conversation I just thought it would have been kinda cool to have the fleet commander show a bit of shock before the Yamato's desperation.
"Sir what is the yamato gonna do" "ITS GONNA BEACH ITSELF ON OUR LAN, SPECIFICALLY CALIFORNIA, ALL GUNS OPEN FIRE" *some huge dorcal plates move past the yamato and head for San Francisco* "Sir what is that"? "That my good friend is something i dread and something that i never wanted to see" "What exactly"? "Its the king of the monsters and the the seas" *YAMATO THEME PLAYS AS DORCAL PLATES MOVE TOWARDS SAN FRANSICO BAY*
do NOT mention WoWS when listening to BS, that is pure horsesheit, BS games have always and will always beat the crap out of any contenders to the crown of best naval warfare game.
Truly a menacing fortress of steel, power and honor. A warrior of the seas that could easily decapitate any other battleship the world had. With her massive 460mm guns of awe-inspiring and equally terrifying penetration power and explosive destructiveness, Yamato was truly a force to be reckoned with. If only not for the advancement of the Aircraft Carriers. One of the most perfect battleships for the wrong time.
The Yamato's Suicide Mission was actually very logical. The Japanese would run her aground on the shallows of Okinawa, and she would be a unsinkable fortress since there would be the ocean floor to hold the bulk of the ship. The only way the Americans would be able to disable her would be to knock her guns out of action. Unfortunately for the Japanese, she was sunk before she reached the island; capsizing and splitting into three pieces as her gunpowder magazine detonated.
you have that right but Yamato's magazine exploded and ripped in 2 not 3 there was probably 3 smaller explosions that sank the midshipmen and stern also her 18.1 inch buns fell off due to there own weight
Bismarck was too advanced for the slow aged swordfish bombers. Her gun sights were meant for modern monowing planes like the Seafire or Sea Hurricane. And the torpedoes only damaged her rudders, she wasn't sunk by the British. That destroyer claimed to deal the final blow but after all of Bismarck's weaponry was disabled by hours of four battleships barraging it she was ordered to be scuttled so that the British didn't get ahold of her enigma code, fire control systems, or armor quality (which is regarded as the best quality armor ever on a battleship). The modern submarine examinations found a large section of her outer hull missing due to the impact of the hull on the sea floor while the torpedoes did absolutely nothing except drain her fuel tanks along the areas of damage. Basically Bismarck had spaced armor to counter torpedoes and that worked completely. Bismarck was concluded to have scuttled herself by the records of the crew and the evidence at the bottom found by explorers and evaluators.
They didn't have it, but the H-classes were projects about super battleships chassis. The smaller the H-41 was already stronger then Bismarck class. The H-44 was a 144.000 ton super battleship. with 8x508mm guns.
It is the rhythm such as the drum of the festival music of Japan. However, Theme of the battleship Yamato should be spacious more heavily. The music was splendid, but I felt that rhythm was too light. I think that all Japanese feel it.
The Yamato was the most powerful battleship ever constructed. With 46 cm/18.1 inch main guns arranged in 3 triple turrets, and plenty secondary turrets. It also has pretty thick armour which makes it a floating fortress. They were fairly short though-the Iowa class is about 7m longer. It was, however longer the the Bismarck.
Than again play invasion of Hawaii on expert and the iowas a lot harder to kill, I remember it was a showdown I had lost all my aircraft and all I had left was Yamato ....
Scarlet King Battleships only practicality now is for a middle platform and intimidation, which i mean load this thing with a bunch of long range anti ship missiles and armour/arm it to the teeth with modern equipment and make it faster and that’s quit the intimidation/shore bombardment weapon!
why does this yamato in the picture only have 2-barrel turrets? The original had 3-Barrel turrets, I've never played the game but I still want to know.
In bad weather which blinds your vision, better peformance of american rader might be an advantage against Yamato but I don't think radar controlled firing at that time could be much more effective. Plus, Iowa's 16 inch gun would not be able to get a chance to penetrate the side armor (about 400mm) of Yamato from over 25km.
Fact: The Iowa was not as powerful as the Yamato nor could it match it's strengths or armor, so in response the USN Started construction of a new battleship, the Montana class.
Incorrect actually. The Iowas' firepower could not indeed match the Yamato's but they could easily out maneuver the ship with their speed and had much more experienced crews on board than the Yamato. The Montana class' construction was never started and was cancelled in favor of the more efficient Essex-class aircraft carriers. The Montanas would have only had 3 more 16 inch guns and more 5-inch secondary turrets with .1 inch thicker armor than the Yamato. The Yamato still outclassed the Montana class in armament. But would have met the same fate as going against the Iowa class ships.
TedTheRed34 Think you'll find it's correct, also they stopped production of the Montana after a certain battle, can't remember which one. The Iowa would, technically, not stand a chance against the Yamato.
***** If the two ships met in battle they'd both do some significant damage to each other but don't forget that the US was making full use of radar-directed fire which allowed accurate fire at much longer distances.
In all fairness, experienced sailors or not, the more advanced US radar is still going to provide a noticeable edge. Don't get me wrong here- the Yamato-class has bigger and better guns and armor. Those are its main strengths. Iowa's strengths are radar and maneuverability. That speed can give it a chance to dodge those powerful incoming shells. I really don't know who would win though.
superbe musique qui definit tres bien l'esprit samourai des japonais , de redoutables guerriers, technologiquement redoutables deja a l'epoque , encore plus de nos jours
This gives me chills. Its not that I find it particularly good. It is but not exactly to my taste. However the atmosphere is on point. Also the picture is actually the super Yamato
TYRESS10 The ship in the image is the Project A-150 "Super Yamato". It was to surpass the Yamato and be more heavily armed and Armoured. The reason it only has 2 guns in each turret... Is cause they aren't 460mm... They're 520mm.
Why did Japan Empire lost ? Could you imagine world without capitalism and polution being created mainly by the USA ? What a great part of history we have rewritten.
August Green It’s the “Super Yamato” from the game which is available from DLC or today, mods. It is a variant that has larger guns (20 inch vs 18 inch) but in exchange has less guns per turret
Reubenandjoel Crenwelge My point was that the Montana isn't really an American copy of the Yamato. They're designed with quite different concepts in mind.
Gaming with Wolfgang Just because the Montana has 3 more guns doesn't mean it's more powerful. Montana's guns were designed to be 406mm guns, unlike the Yamato's 460mm guns and the Super Yamato would have had 520mm Naval rifles. Plus, Yamato existed. Montana was never even started.
One thing I can't understand is why people dislike some videos. If you don't like the music that's OK it's personal but this with 6 dislikes? I don't get it. Maybe people rage that this is Super Yamato not Yamato or this picture isn't liked by them but really, I don't think the dislike button is there for service videos like this. I'm really not a downer or nonAmerican patriot but I can seem to be so at times. I am proud of America (about 98% the Trail of tears and the whole Indian thing was a little messed up). Please don't argue about the Indian dealings that's a little touchy to people.
+Troll3ur bvn actually the Iowa's 16 inch guns + the radar would beat yamato's aircraft spotter 18 inch guns look at this link www.byronhartshorn.com/2014/09/29/iowa-vs-yamato-the-ultimate-battleship-showdown/
Both the Yamato and Iowa had atrocious shell velocity, even for naval artillery. That said, both had some interesting advantages and disadvantages. For starters, the Iowa used super heavy AP shells, designed to exploit the USN propensity for plunging fire. This would have allowed the Iowa to easily penetrate the prodigious (though still thin) deck armor of the Yamato at long range. Given the Iowa's 32 knot top speed as compared to the Yamato's 27 knots, she could have easily kept range... Though battleship main battery hit ratios were absolutely garbage, in the order of 5%. The Iowa could have fired her entire magazine and never scored a hit. However. If the fight closed to visual range, the Yamato wins. The Iowa simply doesn't have the penetration to defeat the Yamato's belt armor, and the Iowa was never meant to withstand 18' impacts from any angle. The Iowa's armor layout was designed to exploit immunity zones, giving it greater protection for less armor mass, but forcing it to stay at range lest its comparatively thin armor belt be penetrated. While the USN had impeccable radar FCS, the IJN had impeccable optical FCS, so when paired with the 18' guns of the Yamato, a visual range fight would have been an instant loss or the Iowa. That said, it's a moot point. At the time both the Iowa and Yamato would have been demolished by the CV group several hundred nautical miles away, sitting in safety as they kek at the two dinosaurs trying to fight.
Since I can't edit my post, I'd like to add that the Iowa was only armored against 16' impacts, and large sections of its armor are only functional against said 16' shells at set immunity ranges. That was the trade off made to give it a 32 knot top speed. The golden triangle is a bitch sometimes.
