Sometimes, you have to do with what you have. The Incubus is proof of that for Clan Steel Viper, which was always playing catch up to all the other clans. Not an omnimech but using a modular "gunpod", the Incubus is billed as a "trial and duelling machine" when in all actuality, it's basically the best thing the Vipers could design at the time and they rolled with it.
Fast but not especially tough, the Incubus does have a nice selection of weapons, and the different Marks of it give you access to different types of firepower.

Definitely a solid 'mech, although it's basically like a baby Battlemaster.

I enjoy the "baby battlemaster" feel to it, but I always prefer the Horned Owl in that weight class.

At the Taurian Academy of Military Science, we studied "semi-modular" weaponry as a tactical response to omni-tech. TAMS concluded that the best solution was to field mechs with handheld weapons, like the Charger or Phoenix Hawk. Without the technology, we saw it as the closest we could come to approaching the refit speed of the omnis.

Clan Light Mechs can be extremely vicious, and the incubus is no exception. A speedy little monster with a head-clipper weapon, the fact that it's so hard to hit means you have to dump a pretty significant amount of firepower at it to keep it from getting out of hand. The Incubus 2 with the Large Pulse Laser might be even meaner.

Ah yes, the Incubus II, the Poor Clanner's "Omnimech", utilizing Handheld Weapon technology to squeeze ever last ton onto a chassis while offering a level of mid battlefield modularity and reloading that true Ominimechs can't offer, assuming you have the logistics to carry spares into an active battle or the foresight to prepare ahead of time.

Balance is weird in HBS Battletech, BTA kinda fixes some of it.

I run an Incubus/Vixen in my Illclan era Rasalhauge Dominion Sane Bears SHTF Solhama Star and it hasn't let me down in table top Battletech games

A lot of second-line machines are just fantastic but get so much less airtime than the omnimechs it's not even funny...

TSM is sourced through Bergan Industries and its shells more or less exclusively. So your choices are House Liao, House Kurita, Sea Fox, or us (Rasalhague Dominion) for legitimate purchase. It is rather odd when we clans are more amicable trade partners, is it not?

Probably need to lower the land speed to be able to do it, but it wouldn't be too difficult in the long run.

I kind of like the vixen name for it. Kind of wish it was called the succubus instead of the incubus. The only thing i dont like is the thing in-between its legs.

I like the Vixen, but just not enough to pick one over an Uller or an Adder or a Cougar and certainly not over a Wolfhound or Raven, instead of a Panther though for sure I would go for a Vixen. Just need to watch out for minefields at 150kph with no jets.

I would take an Incubus over a Kit Fox, because at least the Incubus has some armor on.

@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn Incubus is more dangerous in A battle being faster and better protected. I just give the Uller a couple of extra points due to the omni bolt on weapons advantage keeping it in the field and light omni's being good battle taxis.
