I use this unit all the time in my WOB Level II's. It is awesome. It has no weapons. Just C3i. On the first round you run this thing up to the enemy you want to delete. Then BOOM !!! Terminators delete it at "short" range. The ultimate Level II I run is 2 of these, 2 WOB LRM Carriers, and 2 WOB Mechs. First round....120 LRM rain death on you at "short" range !!!!
In all of the WOB games, we never had them on the battlefield, which is a major bummer. Spent a lot of time playing Battletech at Origins and Gen Con and somehow they skipped having them. These Vtols would be the first thing to add to my WOB lances for eyes and ears
@@Helcarexe26 This VTOL is like cheating for the Terminators. You just fly around deleting units. You have ECM. No Problem I will sit at 7 High above you. Which is "short" for the LRM's and ER PPC's. Plus you can't shoot the VTOL because it is in the same Hex as you. HaHa !!! Deleted !!!!
The Sprint was one of those VTOL’s that overlooked for a long time. I watched another player’s game on how it was used. It was effective and there are other VTOL’s and Hover vehicles that play similarly. I have had great games when I played a TAG Sprint spotting for Semi-Guided LRM’s for a battery of old LRM10 Warrior’s and old Trebuchet. The ECM model has been used for EWAR protect and counter jam C3 networks and is effective as EWAR attack in destroying C3i networks. The C3i model was used with a Vanquisher. Two of these in the network act as spotters. When you get the Sprint into the rear ark of the target the VTOL is fairly defended with TMM and restricted firing acks. With the name Sprint VTOL. You wonder was Comstar really just AT&T?
I can see having a lance of them for spotting and painting targets on the battlefield for an extremely cheap price. When available for the era I can see 👀 taking them
Great little spotter , take a lance of Chapparals too and watch your oppent cry . And yeh take 3 ECM variants and 1 beagle just in case . And honestly if a Warhawk is shooting at these with a 1/2 gunner thats a complete and utter win for the Spints
Baiting fire from a Warhawk. I could see this VTOL has a chance as the TMM could reach a +4 and it gets a +1 for VTOL. When you get a good roll on initiative this may be a good option.
Omg there's a C3 slave variant of this ? How did i not know that ? Uuuuuummmmmm and only 86 BV you said ? EEERRR that is RIDICOISLY good because the biggest problem with C3 is the C3 tax these will save you plenty on that
The Sprint is such a good unit that I have two in the mini's. The C3 Slave variant is awesome for being cheep. But get the VTOL into the rear arch of a mech and meta data away.
Yes, I do agree. Not many players consider ambush on the table top. Most of us enjoy a strait up fight. What I regularly like about active probes is being capable of spotting mine fields. As I have run into several players that would use mines. And have run into one player that would hide an SRM Carrier. So having one unit in your collection running a Beagle is fine. It is just the other variants of the Sprint have less niche uses.
It's very seldom used in games and has caused arguments in the past due to people not writing down locations or changing what hidden in that locations. Hidden units work best with a 3rd party game master supervisor
@zr6671 It's a direct swap for tonnage for Beagle probe to a ECM Suite. You can find the rule in Total War and TechManual for building rules for equipment
@@delsolman24 Its more of a fast moving cavalry style mech for leading medium lance of Wolverines and Trebuchets etc. To be honest I rather have a Succession Wars style Orion that's been upgraded with DHS and FF armor. But having it for as I said leading a group of medium mechs is where it belongs
