Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (SNES) speed run in  

I never was able to finish this game when I was a kid. Now I know how this game ends. Thank you very much. This game is definitely one of the hardest games I ever played.

This game invented the INSANE MODE of difficulty for today's games

How were we ever supposed to beat this as kids?

Three words: THE. FUCKING. SNAKES. Also, this game had a pretty awesome soundtrack.

This game was created by Satan himself, the first level is the Hell itself with lava sea and demonic pigs, then there is the Devil's Throat, and you have to go down there, the chess board is to give you dizziness... after years of training you can MAYBE pass half of it.

If an enemy is on the ground and you do a "dash attack" near him, it will always be a finisher (either the boot with Pimple or the sweep kick with Rash). All of the other powerful attacks I do are either just from the enemy having low health or from the enemy being a boss (you always hit with powerful attacks on bosses).

ugh..i loved this game...but that bike level...SO DAMN HARD...i never beat it...after like 1,000 tries i could never beat that bike level

Holy...i had this game when i was a teenager...never could finish...it was amazing difficult. And this guy beat it in 20 minutes.

Rat race was near-flawless. Only erred on one platform. What a joy to watch.

That bike level, took years away from me. Memorised the whole start of it to then learn today the ‘impossible jump’ has a ramp in the floor to get back up 😢 Kudos for completing

I did the early level end glitch on the snake level once when I was a kid and could never repeat it. My brother's never believed me.

1:29 very nice tactic. RU-vid's timing must be off. You first hit start at 0:10, and the ship gets the final hit at 20:17, which would be 20:07. But, this is a very impressive run. I had been speedrunning this as well comming up with times of 20:20 but knowing it could be better. And this is better. good run.

Haha, I know what you mean. I'm always playing Battletoads, but I haven't been trying for a run in a long long time. Warpless is especially mean because of all the autoscrollers at the start. Maybe some day I'll try that run again seriously, but who knows.

I never beat the game, always lost my lives on the last boss, and I never knew about the infinite lives cheat when I was younger. I can't believe they made a friggin' Street Fighter 1 reference at the end. "WHAT GREAT STRENGTH!"

so its just a bunch of minigames, i was hoping for the "arcade type" of the first level, at some point after when i was a kid

I just managet to win battletoads for the first time! Finally i have no more nightmares of this unfinished game anymore.

Queen- "Ahh we lost the first time. Make everything look nice and polished with the same basic level designs, but make it hard as f*ck." This is like the second Death Star to a whole new level. Love the game, but child me lost patience. Made it exclusively a rental when I wanted a challenge. (Miss you BB)

I remember getting this game for Christmas; Me and my brother use to play battletoads a lot, never beaten the nes version but I managed to beat this game. The only gripe I have about this game was the fact it had more race stages and less action stages. (NTM turbo tunnel, karnnath's lair, coaster stage, and rate race.) Good job on the speedrun. Btw, I saw your race on the battletoads nes game, congrats.

the bikes level is a REAL test for candidates to be real pilots of sukhoi su35 actually.

I would guess it has something to do with the snake's head touching the exit at that point. It could be that tail -1 is somehow equal to the head in the programming (since you're on the tile where the tail was on its last frame, you are tail -1). It could also have nothing to do with that, though.

Hardest game ever. I never finished it - so great to see that it´s possible. And I thought twenty years ago, I was a good player :D

I always played with my brother when I was a kid, the bike level was my fav, I also use to love booting my brothers player on purpose off the cliff at the first level was so much fun. I never went past the snake level...the ice part of the snake level I got stuck on...now that I see there was a bike chasing you after that...looked so difficult! The last boss looked easy tbh...

NES Battletoads is one of my favorite games, so when this came out I of course snapped it up. I have to say, watching this run, and remembering back, I think the NES Battletoads was a richer, more varied game than this is. Awesome run though, PJ.

I don't think anybody has talked about the elephants in the room. There was only one stage of actual full on fighting. and... that you would actually have to play very similar to this just to beat the game legitimately.

its called battletoads in battlemaniacs but you barely even battle in the first level, the rest is just pure minigames

Hahaha, I don't doubt you! Anybody who can play Actraiser 2 like you can definitely run this game. It's not a terribly hard game. ^_^ This run can be improved by ~5-7 seconds with a perfect level 2, a perfect second bonus level, and slightly better Rat Race. I'm not interested in trying though. Haha.

Childhood memories !

Took me countless playthroughs to beat this game. Lvl 1 and 2 are easy. Turbo tunnel cranks up the difficulty. Snake pit the 3rd area confusd me at first. Buzzsaw level is the hardest level in the game especially if you aren't using a straight up snes controller. Last level before Dark Queen ain't that bad, tbh. If you can get to the second bonus level your pretty much set. I remember getting to the rat race level at the end and getting a game over. I was so motivated to beat the game after that, and finally did it on a regular snes. I love hard games like this, b/c they feel so good to learn, overcome, and finally beat!

This and the Simpsons were favourite games as a kid. Could never beat Battletoads though

i got to the thing after the snakes where you have to press up down right left really quickly but only twice and i was on my last legs then. i was never able to finish this game when i was young.

If anyone thinks this was 'hard' have you tried the NES original??? This is child's play and somewhat 'fair' compared to that.

This speedrun is in the limits, I could do it in a similar time, maybe save a few seconds xD, but I don't think it could be done so much better than this. I'm honestly not sure how it works. If you just stand still on the snake's tail there, the level will end when you fall. I don't know if it works in any other places or not, but this is the one I accidentally found. Haha. Thanks!

The hardest Snes game ever.

I've beaten this game so many times only to be able destroy that UFO arrrgh,those rockets are a pain.

i played this game hard when i was younger and i worked my way to getting past the snake level but then the next level just shut me down.

You can get this game on the Xbox One. It comes in a collection with something like 20 games. It includes old classics and even some Xbox 360 games. It's a great value.

How was i suppose to beat the speeder bike level as n 8 year old?? 26 years later..... i was just bored and thought to myself "Hey there was this one game as a kid that i was never able to beat, lets see if there is anything else after the 4th lvl" And YES there was.

Never got past level 2 as a kid. LOL I rented this game from Blockbuster back when it still existed.

Okay, I don't understand how anybody can beat this damn game. My brother and I tried, but there's no way to clear level three without crashing. The beginning was very fun, in level three is where I couldn't beat at all. Too unpredictable, too fast, too frustrating. I wouldn't even dare to play this game again because it ruined my early childhood when I played this game as a kid. I don't understand why some game companies have to make their game so damn hard back then, that's just ludicrous. BAH!

hey, so i'm not sure you know like every game out there, but I had a question if you know a game, it might be on the pc, but it was an old ass game, back in the SNES Sega genesis time, and the game was a music type game. There were like little bugs that would walk over colored blocks, and they would make a sound corresponding to the color of the block, and what kind of instrument it was, and there were some cool ass songs that were made from it, and in awesome shapes, like I know there was that surfer song with a picture of someone surfing a wave. Like I said, idk if you know all kinds of games well, but I just wanna know what the hell that game was called. It was kind of a big part of my childhood.
