The idolization of obtaining happiness can also lead to depression. Happiness should not be pursued for its own sake, because it is always dependent on another thing - it is a byproduct of something else. It must be "stumbled upon" while in pursuit of something other. If it becomes the ultimate aim, we will inevitably miss it, and the disappointment can be crippling. "Seek first the kingdom of God..."

Also, stay away from evil things that influence and affect your mind and emotions. “Dear brothers and sisters, don’t be childish in your understanding of these things. Be innocent as babies when it comes to evil… ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:20‬

Working tech support where perfectionism can be rampant as people expect you to always have the answer since you are the expert. The external expectations of others can influence the internal pressure you place upon yourself. I say that not for tech support people, but for anyone finding themselves asking why are things this needlessly tense. Trust in God, understand His love for you, and go in Peace!

@@shalomansengutuvan6411 Hey Bud, all the best to you and I hope it treats you well! Be willing to learn and hear people out and you will do great. Just know when enough is enough (if someone belittles you or is demanding something) and when it is appropriate to stick up for yourself. I wish you the best and God bless!

Thank you for this message I truly needed to hear this. I’m going through depression that started out of the blue with no explanation of why. This life we live in is getting so heavy on so many people with everything that is going on in this world. I thank you for reminding me that YESHUA is there with us and he will not forsake us, he knows what we are going through, he is our strong tower, our rock. Thank you again for the reminder I truly needed to hear that. Many blessings! 🙏🏼

I like this guy in that he doesn't stuff his sermon with filler material like a lot of popular ministers.

Almost all the sermons I hear about "depression" are about Elijah. The same old re-cycled stuff. It's as if all the preachers copy-cat each other. And they all don't offer any solutions.

Simple way to battle depression is stop listening and looking up to the main people that have oppressed you!!!!

Great sermon! However…You didn’t say anything to your wife and just walked out of the movie? That would be disappointing to be sitting there waiting for your spouse to come back, and they don’t. I mean I’m sure she knew your personality and knew you wouldn’t like that specific movie, but why go do something together just to walk out on each other? Maybe I’m just filtering this situation though the world filter of my past and past hurtful relationships, and this isn’t really a big deal to anyone else, but maybe I’m not the only person who has been through similar situations and find this hurtful. However it’s not about that the movie made you uncomfortable, it’s that you decided to leave without communicating that. That doesn’t feel good when there is a lack of communication. It’s also not a great example to lead and start a sermon with when the point of the sermon is feeling alone, or depression. Because people who feel this way are often over-thinkers, and they feel so alone and broken and the person going through this hears this example and thinks, “am I wrong to want to be included in the conversation?”. Maybe this is an agreement you two have between you in your marriage, but that should be stated, otherwise it’s not setting a good example to other men. Walk out and leave your spouse behind, with the intention of her thinking you’re using the bathroom, but knowing you’re not going back in there with them. Don’t tell them you’re not going back, and go wait in the car, while they sit waiting for you. Who knows, maybe she thought you were in the bathroom the whole time. Maybe she knew you would as soon as she saw you with your phone out reading about the movie. There are a lot of fill in the blanks. But there shouldn’t be. I found myself bothered by what feels like a selfish act, and thinking in that though out the sermon, which was disappointing because it was a good sermon, but it just started with a bad example of how to treat someone you’re dating or married to them, without context of if there is an agreement about this in the relationship. I don’t want to be negative, just share some perspective. I know there is always someone complaining about something, and I’m sorry if this made you feel that way. I am grateful for this pastor and this message. Maybe this helps in a small way with perspective. My intention is not to be hurtful or negative (nor was yours!) I hope you understand what I am trying to quietly point out. Again thank you for the overall message.
