Monsoon season is here in the Sierra’s , this up coming week is going to be dicey! Becareful out in the high country it can get wild & better safe than sorry another great video stealth fishing with a 1 ft leader . Shocked it was so vacant up there. I always leave a log on the dash of the car were I am going with a date and time. It also keeps me on the plan since I can not let myself vary from my log! Safety!
Right on. Yeah. I'm seeing it's going to be raining in a lot of spots on my days off this upcoming week. I send my brother an email to send to the local sheriff If I don't contact him by a certain time. I detail what trailhead they might find my car at, where I will likely be at certain lakes, etc. If I deviate, a note on the dash of my car should be seen by the search and rescue when they discover my car.
Amani your the man! Excellent video. It’s too bad the rain put a damper on your trip but for some reason it make me happy to see rain in a forest, especially in the summer.
Right on. Thanks man. It was cool to include the struggles of reaching certain parts of the lake. That's something I do often but don't always add in the clip. Hiking to a lake or river is merely the first part of the adventure.
I am guilty of being a little crazy at times but I'm not that crazy! The reluctance to put on my water proof pants was me not wanting to pull my big boots off to get that part of my rain gear on. I did hike the brutal hike to Lake Vernon in north Yosemite while wearing Vans when I was 19. That was a big mistake!
I just mentioned about the persistence last video and here we are again you are the man, too bad you lost that one in the bushes I know you will be on them next time👍👊🎣
At the end of the video I got a decent shot of that gold colored golden trout swimming in the tiny creek between the bushes. Watch it on a decent size screen like a computer or TV. You will see why I had no chance of keeping that that trout out of the entangled bush branches under the water. Now I have to go back!
The thing that killed me on this trip is that in the three hikes I did up to lakes it didn't start raining until soon after I arrived at the lake and it was always clear to partly cloudy when I started hiking. Stuff like this happens fast in the mountains! Sounds like you know exactly what I'm talking about.
#116👍🏻🎣👀 Just got back from a drive up to Boise, ID. This video title freaked me out because we made a lake side stop at a Lake O'Dell deep in Oregon. I was thinking, what were the odds you were up there, like us. Not the same place. 😔
It was an adventure making it. Fun to make the longer form videos where I can bring my viewers along to see some of the struggles that go into getting fish into the net. When you are in the backcountry, getting around an alpine lake is rarely easy!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 Yes I know, I was just at the next lake over...not too far away. So much trail damage and trees pushed over! Really like your style!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 Amani, Thx for getting back to me in the comments. Sounds weird but i can relate to you when your fishing and I get excited so I leave comments. Great content. Take care Rick in San Diego
Yeah, there are often thunderstorms in the Sierra during the summer. I just hate it when the rain only comes within an hour of arriving at the lake I'm hiking to. Happened three times in 36 hours on this trip! If the sky looked more rain worthy when I was ready to hike I might have just fished closer to my car!
The hike is not that bad because there isn't a lot of elevation gain in the 20 lakes basin. Lots of up and down. I think the bet gain to several lakes up there is around 400 feet which isn't much. I think it's about a 3 mile hike in.
I always use 6lb mono because I like the durability. I used to use 4lb mono years ago in the mountains but it seems to get beat up to fast and the integrity gets compromised. In all of the clips on my river fishing playlist and backcountry fishing playlist I am using 6lb mono. I have several clips on my fishing tips playlist where I detail a lot of the tackle I use and how I rig up for certain types of fishing.
I have heard and read about the water taxi but I have never seen it operating in the few years I've been going here. Hiking around the lake adds a couple of miles to the hike in. Everywhere I read about hiking in the area seems to imply the water taxi cuts that extra 2 miles out but I wouldn't count on it!
