Btw I would highly recommend another Polish band called Mgla. Either album Exercises in Futility or the Age of Excuse is amazing!

If you saw 6 different batushka's on metal archives, a lot of them are unrelated. The main band (that made the song in this video) split into two, one is signed to metal blade and released "Hispodi" and this is the one most people regard as "fake". The other (Krzysztof Drabikowski) released "Panihida" which most regard as a worthy follow up to Litourgiya. So if you want more like Litourgiya, I reccomend checking out Panihida and staying clear of Hispodi.

Yes, this is the original Batushka. If you like the vibe than your "aftersplit" Batushka will be the one that released "Panihida"

The fake Batushka is on Metalblade. Bart kicked out the creator Derph and hijacked everything. The true Batushka is written as Батюшка. What you saw was the original. The real second album is Panihida. The fake second album is Hospodi.

This is the original. After the breakup, the founder of the band and the guest vocalist who stole the band wrote their own albums. The 'fake' Batushka is signed to Metal blade. He had to cancel the North American tour as he is in a lawsuit. If you listen to both albums you can clearly hear which one is which just by comparing it to this song. Glad you got to check this out, but you are still doing yourself a disservice by not listening to another polish black metal band called Mgla. i absolutely love this band. they’re one of the few that i’ll crank in my headphones and just get lost in the music... this album is one for the ages, and like catacombs for your ears.

As many of the comments are saying, this is indeed the original Batushka. It was mainly constructed by the mastermind/guitarist/song writer Drabikowski and singer Krysiuk. The original band made only this one album Litourgiya. After touring a few years, the singer kicked out the song writer and claims that it's still the same band, just without Drabikowski. They have published one album Hospodi. That is the version of Batushka that is touring. Drabikowski created a new band that actually goes by the name Батюшка in which he is the only band member. He has also published one album Панихида. The other Batushka bands probably have nothing to do with this one.

It is Russian, everything on the cover album and their name is written in cyrillic writing. Yekteniya is a religious celebration from what I can remember. Batushka means "Father" or "The Father" and everything that the singer says are basically prayers, and it can range from anything like the Old Testament with Abraham to the New Testament like the birth of Christ and such. I had my own little pet peeve with them since I discovered this song which is my favorite from the Litourgiya album, and Litourgiya basically means liturgy, and many East European countries have the same word in the vocabulary. In Romanian, for example, we have the word "Liturghia", in french we have "liturgie", in Italian we have "liturgia" , in Portuguese we have "liturgia" and so on and so forth. It really is an interesting thing to study the different languages and see what similarities there are ^_^ Keep up the good job guys!

The band sing in a language called "Church Slavonic", "Yekyeniya" means "Litany". Church Slavonic is the liturgical language of the Eastern Orthodox Church (which Batushka base their imagery and themes from). If you want to know what they're singing, I'll recommend visiting Lyricstranslate.com (lyricstranslate.com/en/batushka-lyrics.html) While there are many acts with the name "Batushka" (or rather variants of it) only two are of note, which are the two that spawned as a result of the split between the members of the band in the video. The first one is led by the singer, a man named "Bart". They released an album titled "Hospodi" ("God Almighty" is said to be the translation) they have been active touring throughout the year. The other is led by the founding guitarist and mastermind, a man named "Krzysztof Drabikowski" aka "Derph". They released an album titled "Panihida" or "ПАНИХИДА" (Requiem). They have played only one show this year (a gig in Ukraine) and are going to commence a tour in early 2020. The others are just jokes or parodies spawned because of the name dispute mess and thus are worth ignoring. As for who is the "true" version, well it's messy but I would argue (as would many fans "in the know") that the latter band, led by Derph, is the true incarnation. Musically his record more strongly resembles the band's first album, he is known to have founded the project and wrote the music and lyrics to the first record (it was also recorded in his own studio), to my knowledge Bart doesn't really contest any of these. This is a messy and complicated matter so I am simplifying quite a bit here.

The correct pronunciation is bAtushka. It is a word with stress in the first syllable ;)

Unfortunately everything went South with the band especially with the members in between either after this album. We have now two bands with almost identical names. Both released an album this year. But the clearly winner and should be is the person who founded this band. But this a bit the same story as we had with Immortal (or any other band with legal name issues). It is a pity that you did hear Батюшка ... it would end up in your top 20 of 2019. And speaking of Immortal. Where is Abbath's album. It should also be there in the top 20 of 2019.

The Metal Blade Records are the fake ones, they are completely rejected by the community, and rightfully so, and not because of the music (that, oh my god, is bad too), but because of what he did. The original composer and songwriter published the REAL second album for free on RU-vid. And it's fucking amazing. If you want to listen to it, it's the one with almost 1 mln views. What you listened to here is the original one, the singer stole everything, including social media access from the original composer, so they split in two different bands. Now they have this looong thing in court arguing about who owns the rights of the band name.

Only 2 Batushka, not 3-7. This is original. Proud to be polish, we have so many good metal bands. But Batushka is orthodox black metal. This religion is about 1% population of Poland.

There is only two but to stress all the other are people just taking the piss and mocking. The original with Kristoff is the best. The Virgin signed to metal blade is the one with Bart who did a hostile takeover on the band and it is trash. They are the ones touring. They are supposed to be in my city this week but had to cancel due to lawsuit. I kind of wanted to see just for the visuals but I don't want to support Bart and his garbage

Yup- that is the original and the one signed to Metal Blade is the only one touring. My recommendation will forever be Advent Sorrow - Pestilence Shall Come (i guarantee you will have a lot to discuss on the vocals and emotion behind this black metal masterpiece) :))

This video is the original Batushka. The new shitty Metal Blade Batushka is the worst version. It's lead by the singer of the original group. The new "good" Batushka is lead by Krzysztof Drabikowski, the guitarist and songwriter of the original band. His stuff still sounds like the original Batushka. Support Krzysztof, not Metal Blade.

Basically all those differerent "Batushka's" are fake and a parody, craving attention on the whole dramaz this band got REALLY big really fast so... the only "true" Batushka is the on that got disbanded, the original project with the only debut album Litourgiya (2015). And now there are two "main" Batushka's. The first one, stolen, with the same original name, signed to the Metal Blade Records (btw what a shame) and the second one, Батюшка, by the man who make the first Batushka happen, the writer, author of the artwork, the whole image of the band, Krzysztof Drabikowski (Христофор) also known as Derph, the mastermind behind the original project. He released the "debut" album this year as well, called Панихида. Which I recommend to react to. I hope this isn't too confusing, this whole situation is just not serious. Basically, ignore the Batushka from Metal Blade, the continuation of the original project is Батюшка by Derph and any other project with the same name is just a joke and parody.
