Thank you for the short visit to our beloved town, Baucau. If you look for an off-beaten track experience, Timor-Leste is one of best among others. It is small but has a lot to offer. So many beautiful cultural and natural resources to enjoy and they are all free of charge :) There are some rare pearls in Baucau ocean but still under explored. Btw, the statue is St.Joseph, the Patron Saint of Baucau. The tree is called 'hali' in Tetum. Hali will only bloom September/Novermber onwards which reminds us that it is closer to 'loron Finadu' or Day of Souls (2nd Nov every year) where Catholic religion and local tradition meet. Wow, this was quite surprising for me, the last time I came here in 2010 it still looked like a village, but now it has become a city equivalent to New York city in US and Dubai UAE
