Join me on a peaceful walking tour through the charming village of Bauen, Switzerland.
This small fishing and farming village is located in Uri, close to Seelisberg and right on the banks of the stunning Lake Lucerne / Vierwaldstättersee. The Swiss village lies at the foot of an impressive mountain backdrop and is the smallest municipality in the canton of Uri. The spaces between the adorable small houses are characterised by magical gardens with Mediterranean vegetation, narrow laneways, terraced walls and small squares. It's a true hidden gem in Switzerland, as you will not find many tourists or even locals visiting this place yet.
My recommendation would be to walk from Seelisberg to Bauen (time: 1h30), take a rest at one of the excellent restaurants in town while enjoying the spectacular panorama and travel back by boat to Treib. From there a train (Treib-Seelisberg Bahn) will take you up to Seelisberg.
