I recently purchased an intermediate set for my 12 year old son. He was using last generation GSX youth pad and loved them. We were going to purchase Vapour X5 Pro, but the new GSX was so nice and $300 less. We changed our minds, realizing he’s probably only going to wear them for 1 season. Happy with our choice

If you don't mind me asking. I have a 12 year old as well looking to buy the whole setup what size pads did you go with in the intermediate and did you get the glove and blocker to?

Great video. I’d love a review comparing junior pads. Soft vs stiff for a young goalie and/or GSX gen II vs Axis 2.5, etc.

thanks guys. Solid set. I got it before any real info came out on it but its a huge step over the last model of the gsx, s20. the slide is much smoother so get ready to get that skate dug in hard to stop the over slide. glove is amazing and blocker well...they didn't break a good thing. the glove has 3 grips inside for fingers now pinky, middle (i believe could be pointer) and thumb. just amazing. If you buy this set you wont be disappointed. and with some padskinz, you can customize the color to what your team or heart wants it to be.

After watching this video I see zero point in buying 1000 dollar pads. You have everything you need in this entry level model. Goalie s such an expensive position. They need to make it easier on us.

@ingoalmedia I believe on the point about the Calf Plate not having Coretech - as per Bauer's website there actually is - likely a lower grade overall.

I would never use anything but top level gloves but the pads are looking very good compared to even the 3x model, especially with the all red model. For me, Bauer pads are ok, but I absolutely hate the newer style of straps, i like the 2x, hyperlite and ultrasonic set up, x5/m5 is a no go because of the new tune fit style, this is actually really nice they have the older system and an adjustable point on the toe bridge like supreme style. For pick up and beer league, it could be a nice option for sure.

how is the glove for playing the puck? im used to using ccm for playing puck as its comfy never tried bauer

Is the boot strap option only on the Jr pads? I just bought a set of these pads in intermediate and they do not have it. Looks like my pads were manufactured in March 2023.

Its a great pad , but it is low end so durability is not as great as the higher end pads. I love mine, used padskinz to give them some colour. But again durability. I had to warranty mine after 4 games cause one of the strapping points started ripping off the pad already.
