Saw Matty Hutchinson in these at an Eli Wilson camp we were at the other week, he had great things to say about them too. Getting a pair tomorrow and I'm behind excited.
I'm a EE. Makes skate sizing super rough. I also have super short feet, player skates I'm a 7ee in ccm, my bauer goalie skates are 7.5ee. I'll probably just get new steel in my current skates although these do look cool.
You'll never convince me that the initial product meeting didn't include the line "how can we make goalies wear the stupidest fucking looking thing possible" 15 years I've been doing this. Looks like Dicks Sporting Goods Lake Placid adjustable rec skates
Thank you for this, skates look great! I was looking for some more info on the "push plate" that I've seen mentioned in the skate's specifications but no one is really talking about exactly what that is or how it'll help while down in the butterfly. Any insight there?
The skate is lightweight, the flexibility is awesome, the rapid put on and take off is good, you actually do shuffle and push better, but none of that matters if you play with constant pain all game on your soles, I gave them a good shot, used them for 6 games, baked them perfectly, but no matter what I did the pain during the game that gradually got worse was unbearable, by the end of the game, coming from True TF9's that are as comfortable as clouds this was terrible, I really wanted to like them, I really wanted them to work out, but the pain was just too much, Bauer has a lot of work to do to fix that, I have no idea why the soles feel the way they feel on this skate, it was just too much pain, I changed the sole inserts too 3 different times and no change, so unfortunately I had to return them, maybe they can review that experience and adjust then I can try again in the future with a different model.
Where did u feel the pain? I have the bauer elites rn and for the first 3 weeks the side of my feet were killing me. And then I got used to it. I wonder if that would be the same thing with these skates?
Too bad BAUER won’t even reimburse you if you buy 800.00 goalie skates, and the toe cap starts to separate in the first week. Imagine the issues these will have.
So let me get this straight....................You can't get a real idea on whether or not you like the feel of the skate until after it has been baked to your foot, which by then you HAVE to buy it no matter what?????
Great video! I also would be interested in learning more about what custom profiling is on your skate. Been playing beer league for 10 years and I just heard about skate profiling this year. Sounds like something we should all know about ahha. Thank you again!
My understanding is that's a lot more applicable to players than goalies. Especially if you're a beer leaguer. I've been a goalie for 20 years, haven't really started skating out multiple days a week until the last few. Player skates have a turning radius which affect surface contact. Goalie skates are basically flat so the profiling is just your pitch in stance but most beer league goalies don't have a super low stance.
@@bfish9700 having dabbled in profiling, I would say that the multi-radius profiles definitely aren't necessary for beer leaguers. But, having used a ProSharp profile, it does make a difference! It didn't revolutionize my game, but it certainly enhanced it. Having said that, a proper profile (of any kind) is necessary. A lot of skates are cut/molded to the neighborhood of a standardprofile ... but aren't truly profiled off the shelf. Any new blade should be profiled before being sharpened.
Looks exactly like my old Roces Los Angeles inline skates... Everything including the hinge system, clips and the inserts... Making a comeback after 30 years.
Not that I want to DIY this myself but what is the process to heat these up? I picked up a pair from a buddy and just wanted to be able to explain to the store how to do it if they don’t know themselves
While I love the hockey shop and bought things from them online in the past, being on the other side of the country means that I can't really go get these skates fitted. Maybe I should ask this somewhere else, but does anyone know of a skate fitter near Montreal that I can get those fitted?
These are awesome looking skates. I'm curious if over time these might add some extra wear to your pads. Probably more of a issue for a rec leaguer who's not rolling new pillows at the start of every season.
For everyone reading the comments, there are no pros currently wearing these skates. There are currently pros wearing bauer customs fully skinned as KONEKTS to sell a product. Hockey products are almost always misrepresented by pro athletes, just like the bauer mach equipment. Vasi and Oettinger wear almost no stock MACH features in their pads. Its all customized and skinned to sell a product.
Bauer is making a bigger deal out of this than it may be necessary. Boots thermo moulding has been around for 20 years in the ski industry, and it is not rocket science. I think the price is way too high, looks like Bauer is looking for a very quick return on investment. I'm suspecting those boots are actually cheaper to produce than the standard high end ones. Think about how complex stitching the liner in a conventional boot. Now they produce the liner separately, plus they don't need to do half sizes they just need half a size thicker liner boots. To finish my argument about inflated prices, high quality ski boot are around 500, and they use a lot more materials (much more plastic, thicker inside boots, 4 buckles). So I just hope they will come up with lower prices at some point, and more widespread availability.
can you heat if a few times ? need to know for resale purposes lol. also impact resistant seems sketchy if we were to use the water resistant and waterproof comparison.
They can be reheated a few times, yes. There's a bit more to the process than heat and slip on though. Well we've been using them for about 6 weeks now vs. Major Junior and NCAA shooters with no issues and of course there's the NHL players who used them this year.... :)
@@bradmclean2817 i maybe you play with crappy equipment and the brain damage is why you said something that dumb. 'm sure you buy helmets that break apart into pieces after a shot lol.
Thanks for posting this! What have the historical shown regarding wear and tear on the portions of the pad that contact the skates, particularly the buckles? That would likely be my largest concern, as the average tendy can’t simply replace their pads whenever they want.
it's a question we also wondered about ... haven't seen or heard of problems in this regard ... only durability issue we've heard about is some buckles breaking --> Bauer replaces them for free and has identified the issue (the clasp was not stamped closed) and is rectifying it, but will replace any damaged in the meantime
Two quick questions. Firstly, with the liners being removable, are they machine washable? Or would the heat mess up the fit? Second, do the blades already have Bauer's agility profile? Or do I need to get that done after purchase?
It wouldn't effect the profile at all ... the flex would allow you to better utilize the profile. With some of the ProSharp goalie profiles, the ability to flex more may make those more optimal.
Went through the fit process and Played a game with these Thursday. What is the feedback you are hearing on break in? Why feet where on fire after the first skate.
We have had no issues with break in at all. Only the occasional wide-foot problem as mentioned in the video. Strongly suggest you take them in for a re-mold - if there are specific pressure points they can help with that as. well.
@@bradmclean2817 I think you're right ... instep buckle could be too tight. A remold with the player standing with his weight on his feet may fix it. I have same issue, and I have to stand when I mold my skates so my wide feet "spread out". If I remain seated, the boots mold too narrow. The other possibility is the boots are too loose, and the soles of his feet are sliding around against the foot bed creating friction and therefore heat. I have this issue when I go on walks when my shoes are too loose.
@@VetGoalie76 definitely not rental skates with a stiff toe..what you are comfortable paying is 100% your choice of course but these are outstanding skates.
My dad had a pair of these back in the 80s, they were made under the brand "LANGE". He said they were the most comfortable skates he ever owned. The only thing that slowed him down was putting is skates beside a open pit fire along the "canal" and they melted. They still worked for a few years after that but looked like Freddy from "nightmare on elm street" Maybe he was from the future.. things that keep me awake at night.
