Nice video Bud. I have 4 pairs of the Bauer Supreme 1S skates. What I like about this skate is the comfort of the interior of the boot, the support and stiffness of the boot, the comfort edges around the neck, the 37.5material inside, the Lightspeed Edge trigger holder, the tendon guards (my favorite tendon guards ever), and the look of the skate overall. What I find that needs improvement is the tongue of the skate. The insert is too flat and causes the tongue to move left or right on the front of your ankle. The idea to allow for customization is good but the inserts should not be so flat and should have been more contoured to fit the shape of the ankle. On the inside of the tongue there is a black/yellow section down the middle with 37.5 material but I would prefer the standard felt on this area instead because the smoothness seems to allow the tongue to slide a bit thus causing too much foot movement and some irritation when skating for longer periods of time. I think a good solution for the tongue inserts is to design new ones that could be available to purchase that fit right into the same slot but are shaped a bit differently to allow to wrap the ankle better. I tried to improve mine by drilling holes into them at different locations and getting them to flex vertically to allow ankle wrap and not just forward flop. Overall I think the Supreme 1S is a quality skate. I recently tried on the NEW 2S Pro skates and I like the changes that were made especially to the interior of the tongue. The exterior of the tongue is where I have questions but I cannot give a review on it until I skate them and fully put them to the test, however just standing on them and walking around with them I did not have anything negative to say. Special note is that I have the Supreme 1S skates set up for Ice Hockey, a set for Roller Hockey, a set for Marsblade training blades and a set waiting to test out the NEW Marsblade Ice Holders which I am excited to skate. Let me know if you have any questions and I am helping to help you find the best skates for your hockey game. Hockey player and product enthusiast.
Chris cracking review and although a new Subscriber and Ex 80’s Player in the UK I’m doing my best to get through your Back Catalogue. Firstly I must ask where can I get the CCM t shirt you first had on ( I’m a CCM fan) and the CCM baseball caps I’ve seen you wearing in your other Vids.🙏 Ive never worn any Bauer Skates but being old school I’m interested in catching up on current Skate technology as I would love to own a current pair of Skates to compare to what I’m used to wearing from the 80’s in my era. My eyes are on the CCM AS3 but Bauer are not out of the question. Love your reviews and thank you for your time and effort taken to show us these Videos👍🏒🏒🏒
I ordered the 2s Pro custom just over three weeks ago, picked them up last week. They’re the mutt’s, lovely skates, very precise. Much better than my Supreme s160. Nice looking too, understated styling. I’ve done six hours in them - three hours hockey, three hours general skating - and my legs don’t ache or feel tired, am I imagining it, or are they less tiring to skate in? I do like the injected lacing, it works. They are expensive, but worth it. Oh, and nice review.
I am sue Bauer has thought of a Monocomp boot... so I am curious as to WHY they don't make one available as well. My favorite boot was a 1 piece (Easton). Would love to see a 1 piece custom from Bauer!!!! DO IT BAUER!!!!
Is there any place or website you could recommend me to buy from online? As this product is extremely hard to find in Australia and in my blade size. It would be for the new Bauer trigger holder too.
Try finding local or ordering online. I just got my son ccm ft360s an step steel. Stright out of the box the skates runners were not straight but I have a guy that fixes everything plus he carries step steel. So 200 dollar skates then I paid 135 for step steel that included profiling an sharpening. Not much help I know but you could go to step steels website an hit up find a store, might help. Sorry if it didnt help.
I was hoping you would make this video, I love all your content if you could do a review on the new 2n pro stick that would be great, thanks again -Chris
Hey chris, love every videos you make !! I was wo deri g if you could compare bauer custom skates with ccm custom skates and true to see if it's worth it to go with bauer/ccm compare to true skates. Thanks :)
I bought a pair of Bauer Supreme S170 skates two years ago (Autumn 2016). After putting many hundreds of hours into the skates since then in gameplay and regular skating drills, I can say that they are now falling apart - particularly inside around the area of the neck, where I have worn through the lining. I do not think that a product should wear so badly after two years, so I do not want to reward Bauer with my future custom. I have never tried CCM, but I will probably make the move and see how they are.
I’ve put 400+ amateur hours on s160 skates, they’re worn but usable. A UK pro will wear through a mid range skate in a season or less, they do wear out. Higher grade ones last longer.
Upgrading from s190's which I really like. They have been a workhorse. Favorite sk8 so far. The only slight issue I have noticed is tongue shift. So, thinking of S2 or S2pro. I also skip the top eyelet for forward flex. So a boot that maintains side to side rigid suport but allows forward flex is what I prefer. Any opinions?
Hey, Chris. I have been having some trouble with falling, sliding, and having to wait till I stop sliding to be able to pick myself up. It's my greatest weakness and problem while playing hockey at the moment and I can't find any videos on how to do it. Could you possibly do a video about how to get up quickly while sliding? That would be really great. Thanks.
You want to sorta kick your leg out and dig your edge in and stop, or you can reverse edges so you sorta just kicking your legs out and stoping on both feet, it will take some time, but you will get used to it. Good luck!!
Hockey Tutorial that’s awesome, I look forward to it! My biggest question about it is how much customization options do we have as Consumers. Thank you!
Hockey Tutorial thank you, so much! I just have one more thing I wanted to bring up, I love the skate review/comparison videos along with the stick review videos. You should do review/comparison videos as well on equipment like shoulder pads elbows, ect. If that is possible, like ice warehouse does. Now granted Ice warehouse is a vendor so they can only say so much and usually just pay out the features but I’d like to know personally from a consumer’s stand point how most gear feel/hold up to everything. This would help for parents like us on figuring out what equipment to invest into for our child’s skill level and protection needs.
Thanks for the information. My question is this: With all this great new skate innovation would the type skate sock you wear have any bearing - what should you wear as a sock?
I am questioning the black blade comments. I disagree a coating will make the metal "harder" unless you are using that term NOT from a metallurgical stand point. The hardness is dependent upon the alloy and the heat treat. This would also refute the claim That the edge will last longer. I am not an expert but I believe I am correct. If in fact the edges do last longer I would like to know why?
I've had the 1S the past couple seasons and while it's a great skate, I don't think I'll get the new one. The injected eyelets are a piss poor idea, they crack and you can't just go to your LHS to repair them like you could for a skate with normal eyelets. There's a lot more work to fixing them so you have to send them to someone who does it. I love the tendon guard and the way it bakes perfectly to your foot on the inside of the boot, just have to replace those Speed Plates with Carbon Super Feet.
A lot of fair points there. We see a lot of pro players ordering custom versions with traditional eyelets. No skate is perfect, the trick is finding what works best for you.
