We're back with our first album ranking of 2024. This time around.... BAUHAUS - ranking not only the 5 studio albums (In the Flat Field, Mask, The Sky's Gone Out, Burning from the Inside, Go Away White) but also their 5 best non-album tracks.

Hey Bret I absolutely loved this video! I was lucky enough to see Bauhaus at 2 of their 3 night reunion residency at the Palladium in Los Angeles back in 2019. That has been the first two and only times I have seen them. I consider myself lucky to have seen them in the first place. Here’s my ranking. 1) In The Flat Field 2) Mask 3) Burning From The Inside 4) The Sky’s Gone Out 5) Go Away White Here’s my 5 favorite non album tracks 1) Telegram Sam 2) Dark Entries 3) Terror Couple Kill Colonel 4) Bela Lugosi's Dead 5) Ziggy Stardust Thanks for doing this! Nice ranking! I'm trying to venture more into Bauhaus myself, only heard a few songs so far. Bela Lugosi's Dead, Telegram Sam, Etc. Hey, you should do a Top 30 Song Ranking on Bauhaus or Love and Rockets. That would be really cool! Just like you did with Depeche Mode!

1. Mask 2. The sky's gone out 3. In the flat field 4. Burning from the Inside. 5. Press the eject and give me the tape - a lot of fans dismiss this album. Loved rosegarden funeral of soars. And when bauhaus goes into their rendition of waiting for the man by velvet underground, if you listen closely you can hear someone say "Play the whole thing F _ _ ker which always made me laugh. There have been times when the sky's gone out has been in 1st place with me. It's gone back and forth through the years. I think at this point in hindsight I can definitely say Mask is number 1 with me. That said the Bela lugosi single is not listed but is important because like a lot of bauhaus fans it was the first thing I heard by them. It wasn't bela lugosi that got me, it was when I flipped to the B side and heard boys that solidified me as a fan. Boys was so different from anything I have ever heard and till this day still sounds awesome!

All Peter Murphy albums are superior than any Bauhaus efforts. Same for Love and Rockets or solo Daniel Ash or David J. Peter's work puts all the rest in his shadow. Lyrically, musically and visually a better effort than anything the offshoots ever did.

I think their all great in their own right. I'm a fan of all of them. But I do understand why this is your opinion. Peter Murphy has a very unique voice and style when combined can't be beaten!

Great session guys. It was such a delight to do the Bauhaus journey again. I followed the band from day one when I heard Bela and thought it was the most extraordinary track I’d ever heard. Clearly a genre defining moment for Goth music. It remains my #1 non album track from the band. My #1 is Burning From The Inside because it captures the eclectic nature of the band and serves as the perfect transition moment into post Bauhaus life. I share Bret’s love for Hope and agree that it is the beautifully poetic finale for the OG Bauhaus era. The band have only toured Aust once and only featured Peter and David but that was enough to get a taste of what the Bauhaus experience was all about. David J was stunning on bass (I also adore many of his solo projects). One track that didn’t get a mention (and hey you can’t mention them all right) is Spy in The Cab an extraordinary track which was one of the highlights of the set they delivered in Aust. Thanks again guys it was such a blast.
