Celebrating 28th National Children's Month (NCM) this November 2020!
As the Department of Education joins the Council for the Welfare of Children along with other government agencies, and the whole nation in celebrating the 28th National Children's Month (NCM) with the theme, "Sama-samang Itaguyod ang Karapatan ng Bawat Bata sa Panahon ng Pandemya!" this November 2020.
This poster advocates the strengthening of Children/Learners with Disabilities (LWD) rights and privilege in this time of pandemic.
Though our country have shown a relatively good support to these children and youth, there is still a need to improve especially in giving them the right opportunities in learning, rehabilitation, self-reliance,
and self-development like excelling in sports, music, and creative arts.
This means pushing for wider access to quality education specifically designed to cater their needs and differences.
They should be given assistive devices for greater mobility represented by the boy in a wheelchair and elevators with numbers in Braille. They must be allowed to use technological aids for their learning as shown by the pupil using laptops and interpreters in the classroom and be given job opportunities for independent living like the boy in a wheelchair who can still work and earn aliving. They should be supported as they build their own families because they, too, deserve to love and
be loved.
This year's celebration will focus on upholding children's rights in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the COVID-19 challenge, we are all encouraged to take part to: ′′ Promote Every Child's Rights Together During the Pandemic!"
