Went to this spot last Sunday with my brother and I after stopping at J&P. When we headed to this spot everything was shut off due to the 10k marathon race.. Wasn't a good day haha
the pier is generally open but you need to check when there is a Giants game as that parking lot is used as overflow parking for Oracle Park. If you come during games, then there is a surcharge for parking and it's enforced/collected at entry.
@@kirkpatrickg191 It's not allowed in sf bay: wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean/Regulations/Sport-Fishing/General-Ocean-Fishing-Regs "Gear Restrictions 28.65. General. Except as provided in this article, fin fish may be taken only on hook-and-line or by hand. Any number of hooks and lines may be used in all ocean waters and bays except: (a) San Francisco Bay, as described in Section 27.00, where only one line with not more than three hooks may be used."
Yo dude, pretty sure that’s not a public pier under California Code of Regulations 1.88, as it’s not “built or currently functions for the primary purpose of allowing angling access to ocean waters,” nor is it included in the CDFW list of public piers (though, there is one like three blocks south of where you are). I assume you can still fish from there, but as your unlicensed RU-vid lawyer, I’d advise against using more than one line per licensed individual, as that’s probably a reg violation.
It’s a private pier 100% but they let us fish it most if not all of the time. They can and do at times close it to fishing. All public piers you can have up to 2 lines, dfg can and have given multiple citations out for fishing 2 rods at privately owned piers, I’ve also seen them not enforce it as well, I’m not trying to say you guys are poaching or anything, just putting it out there because there seems to be some new anglers out there that wouldn’t otherwise know and that’s a expensive learning experience ( ie - not license / extra rods )
Not a sardine. I zoomed in and there are no noticeable spots on the back. It's most likely a young herring that was born from the spawn. It also could be a young shad but that's less likely. If you get a cleaner pic next time then it would be 1000 times easier to ID
@@kirkpatrickg191 ok but why? like what noticeable features or traits on that fish makes it a pacific sardine 100%? I'm not saying you're wrong and my ID is not 100% but I'm curious what you saw that I didn't that could give a positive ID on it. Thanks.
According to fishing game “When recreationally fishing from a "public pier" in ocean or bay waters, a fishing license is not required.” So I do not believe so
