Brings back old memories. I was stationed out there in the mid 70's in the navy. 1975-1981 I used to do a lot of riding out there. Got lost a lot, but that was part of the adventure. I have one of those. Just got it a couple months ago. It's nice, made well. It doesn't seem like it offers much help getting up steep hills when in pedal assist only, even when in boost assist 5. Seems like I have to do most of the work. I even upgraded it with a 9 speed 11-46 group-set from a company called Box Components. The only way to get up the steep stuff with out dying is to use the throttle with pedal assist. It's easier to get up the hills on my 16 pound road bike or 24 pound mountain bike. Both are not e-bikes. Without the throttle helping me on the Discover 2 e-bike, even in the top boost mode, it pretty much feels like I'm pedaling a 67 pound bike up a steep hill. Have you tried taking it up steep hills without using the throttle?

Yes I have. Tried it in pedal assist and throttle only. Got about 5 miles per more on pedal assist. Velotric just had a firmware update for the Discover 2 that no lets you choose between torque sensor and cadence sensor. If you can get the app to work.

The bike did work great, even on the dirt with commuter bike.

I rode mine just over 40 miles one day. I was at 20.3 miles and 58% when I turned around to make the return trip. When I got back to my starting point I was at 2%. I really tried to use the same PAS and not a lot of throttle on either leg of the ride, but I probably did use them a little more coming back because I was getting tired. Moral of the story, don't go down to 50% before you turn around because you will probably run out of battery.
