For story/mission purposes, you really should summon Igon for this fight. And if you summon anyway, why not throw your good old buddy Mimic Tear in? And then pretend, you would have defeated this boss solo with ease, but chose to use summons just because of the story. Everyone will believe you.
But seriously, this dude is a different kind of Dragon boss.
