How To Buy An Excellent 30ft Flybridge…
This has got to be the nicest Bayliner 288 on the market.
She’s had only 2 owners from new, has an extensive service history and is in outstanding condition throughout. Her great spec includes the navy blue hull colour band, full camper covers, foldable cockpit seating, teak swim platform, chartplotter, anchor windlass, etc, etc.
If you’re looking for a flybridge cruiser like this (or any boat for that matter) I reckon that the best approach to achieving boating bliss is to buy the absolute best one that you can find, even if it means spending a few pounds more, because ultimately it will prove to be better value in the long term…
When I ask boat buyers like you for the top things they want from a boat, there is always a common desire, regardless of the size or type of boat they’re looking for, and that’s for Great Value For Money.
But what is ‘value for money’?
Please don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because a boat is advertised at the lowest price around, it’s good value for money… I could literally fill a book with stories about people who have bought a boat for a song only to find out very shortly thereafter that it had major and sometimes dangerous problems.
When it comes to used boats, a certain old adage could not be more accurate…‘If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is’.
This 288, whilst not necessarily the cheapest on the market, has to be the best.

No bow thruster on these boats as standard? Also, what would the range be? Anyway, I've just watched your review of another 288 from last year and you look quite a bit different. Have you put on a little ballast? Or maybe it's the different glasses:-) Good review as usual though.

I’ve owned the same boat for several years. However, it has a bravo II with single prop. These boats are great under power but without thrust sloppy around the docks. These boats should be required to have a bow thruster. I’ve been lucky so far. You have to plan ahead on docking and be selective in getting a slip that’s easy to maneuver in and out of slip. Don’t buy one underpowered. My model has the large block V8 , 454 HP. Forget the cost of fuel, just enjoy your time on the water. If I end up keeping the boat, I will install a bow thruster (cost $3000-$5000 installed) and a stern thruster (cost $3000 +/- installed). I doubt I I will get that back when I sell. However, makes your boat more marketable to less experienced boaters when you decide to sell. There is a solution to make this boat more manageable around the docks but it’s going to cost you. One can do it without the thrusters but it takes only one windy day to do thousands of dollars worth of damage to your boat or your neighbors boats. Not to mention damages to your marina. Be careful and mindful of weather and currents which can grab your bow or stern. This boat is like an ice skate. However, I’ve had wonderful fun times with family and friends. You need to know your boats personality! Another safety note: be mindful of drinking while boating, it’s not worth it. If you must, stay at the dock! The U,S. Coast Guard has great boating courses. They are fantastic people !

Seriously !?!!? The first 3 things you mention were the aluminum rub rail, the Bayliner sticker and the engine room vents ??? THOSE are the 3 biggest selling features ? Don't bury the lead. Wow.....worst sales video ever!
