Bayon Temple, located in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a remarkable Khmer temple complex famous for its stunning architecture and intricate stone carvings. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century by King Jayavarman VII, the temple is part of the larger Angkor Thom complex. What distinguishes Bayon is its iconic stone faces, featuring serene expressions and believed to represent Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara or a combination of the king and a deity. The temple's central structure consists of multiple levels adorned with bas-reliefs depicting historical events, daily life, and mythological scenes. Bayon stands as a testament to the grandeur of Khmer art and culture during the Angkor period, attracting visitors from around the world who marvel at its architectural beauty and historical significance.
