I'm surprised how many people are commenting in support of Super Mirror B4 - I'm starting to see the same comment almost verbatim. It's really not that great of a costume imo - even with the accessories. Pinning this so folks are aware that they can find Super Mirror B4 context already in the comments 😌🤙🏽
It's funny you mentioned the D'arc skin from the first game looking like designer, because in universe it is! Is from the fictional brand of "d'Arc ", Jeanne from the same game has a version in red as a regular outfit. Mari Shimazaki is really talented.
yes and apparently someone put bayo and jeanne's rolling animations side by side and it turns out jeanne's is a little different.... because she doesn't want to get her clothes dirty.
Fun fact, her Link outfit was less camp at first, platinum games showed the reference sheets to Nintendo but they were the one who said "make it sexier" I can't help but find that sequence of events just hilarious
Nintendo was the only company that saved Bayonetta, which always blows my mind. B1 was soooooo sexualized (we stand a positive body/sexuality queen) Without them, it wouldn't be as big as it is today or even a game.
Platinum felt like it would be disrespectful to oversexualize classical Nintendo costumes, but Nintendo themselves told them to just go wild since this is Bayonetta we're talking about and sex appeal is her deal. There were also more conservative versions of the Peach/Daisy and Samus costumes, you can see them in the art book.
I have The Eyes of Bayonetta art book and there is around 100 different designs/concept art for Bayonetta. And all those 100+ designs are so gorgeous and fashionable. ❤ I love all the outfits the artist drew before settling on the final OG character design.
Oh wow - I'll have to check that out. Knowing that they went through a design process that took over 1 year - it's awesome seeing that quality and attention reflected in such detailed 3D models.
I really like that the concept art of human characters for the first game is very similar to fashion sketches. In the second artbook for the second game, the designs already look more like a standard concept art.
I love that Bayo went from redhead to blond and then they finally settled for brunette and that all the concepts look wildly different from one another, Shimasaki didn't just change the color of her hair, she completely shifted the way Bayo carried herself with each iteration, from her clothes to how she styled her hair down to the minimal details. I love concept art that really makes you feel the experimentation in the process.
@@Homodemon Oh, but the redhead on the prototype (the one with black clothes fighting against karate fighters lol) was just a model they already had around, and used it to get a sense of the gameplay - a placeholer, if you will.
Little fun fact: her base outfits are all so skin tight because they are quite literally made out of her magic hair. She made the fire to perfectly suit her body, literally. That’s why I appreciate seeing the folds on some of her other outfits, since it shows that they are actual fabric, and not just her hair.
For the standard outfits, Bayonetta 2's has to be my favourite, first off I'm a sucker for silver jewelry, and if you notice her second outfit has a lot of straight lines and cutouts, her triangular earrings, the more square medallions on her clothes, the diamond cutouts on her legs, her pointy shoulders, all those things give me a strong Art Deco vibe and I love that aesthetic, it's so elegant.
Honestly my favorite part about bayonetta is she truly is an amalgam of uniqueness and a love letter to fashion and camp. The fact that her hair is her clothing and her weapon is just peak design. Thank you for making this video gained a new sub.
It would be a shorter video, but you could also do one on Jeanne's outfits. Jeanne is Bayonetta's rival/ best friend/ sister witch/ fanon love interest. You could do Luka's outfits as well, but he's just comic relief to make Bayonetta cooler, no matter how important Bayonetta 3 wants to make him.
@@toidIllorTAmI she was born from the strongest love of all the "immortals", of course she will love someone too. It's not impossible. And it's the only way to create more witches ! If she and Jeanne wanted to recreate their witchcraft coven, they would absolutely need to have daughters themselves... Jeanne has even more affinity to kids than cereza, her real world job is high school teacher !
@@NaomiAlicia4242564 yes. But Bayonetta as a character wouldn't have a child because she would think it's not fabulous. Lol I know that she can have kids.
The Super Mirror B4 look needs her Abracadabra hat and cane in order to complete the look. This Bayo is meant to be a french thief /magician and it honestly works super well
Yeah the victorian/ high fashion masculine silhouette with the smaller yet nice tail coat look of abracadabra is great actually in darker colors. It's her most masculine look and she rocks it.
@@XDF yeah I feel the same way. It's not something I see her wearing, plus the original Bayo 2 outfit does that same idea with the shawl so much better
@@SteelWool567 you def could’ve worded that better 💀 but I disagree I feel like that outfit is going for more of a sailor moon witch vibe then a skimpy one
Y'all definitely didn't let me down with this video - always feels especially fulfilling when a video quickly breaks into the Ks-of-views. 🎉 The thoughtful comments mean a lot, and it's exciting finding more people who like this stuff as much as I do 😊🙌🏽 More Bayo content to come eventually - along witb plenty of other franchises obviously 🕺🏽💃🏽
As a dude who just wears a v-neck skinny jeans and a light jacket for 99% of the the year, your videos/great presentation really makes me wanna experiment more Love this channel great work dude
I can imagine people who are really into their fashion hearing for the first time that her outfit is her hair and she can shapeshift her hair into any outfit. And never having to ever think about the "if you could have one superpower" question ever again 😂
I'm absolutely loving this channel. I don't know anything about fashion but I'm a fan of most of the pop culture franchises you've made videos about. I hope you keep at it and if you ever open a Patreon I'd throw down some support.
Literally always awesome to hear when folks like you enjoy the content so much. I'm finding that mentioning some of my other fav media helps me find my people on here. :) I'm still early in my serious RU-vid journey, but if/when Patreon feels like the right move - glad to know some folks would be down to support. 🙏🏽
As a fun fact, the Bayonetta 1 hair version also had the nintendo costumes, but they were exclusive to nintendo consoles, so you can't see them in pc version, xbox, ps, etc, except the fox outfit
Bayonetta 2 is my favorite! She very much gives Rich Auntie vibes to me. Speaking of some of her outfits from that one, it very much gives me Moschino, especially the police one. Given how they do different themes of everyday things, like their McDonalds, the lifejacket and the maid pieces in particular. Love how they love to accentuate her legs. All mini skirts and sheer black tights but still tastefully covered like you said, she gives those peeks of skin, mainly at her back. She doesn't want her breasts on display but the way she arches her back, showing off it as well, is just so 😚👌
I really liked this one. I have never played Bayonetta, but I’ve always admired her fashion from afar. Thank you for the backstory on her inception and what it meant for the franchise. As an aspiring developer, I find that reassuring as I’ve always paid a lot of attention to fashion.
Great Style and loved the video. Never played Bayonetta before but I love her as a character. She just screams style and originality as well as oozing sexiness by just existing!
Great video! It was wonderful to get your take on these skins :) if you have time in the future I would adore a followup covering the outfits unique to Jeanne! She doesn't have so many that Bayonetta can't also wear, so likely a shorter video
I'm not into fashion at all, but your video was really good. Really easy to hear you talk about style and teaching what makes something unique and cool.
There is a more secret skin in Bayonetta 3 that is very adorable and well done you may love. It's her young Cereza skin the Super Mirror 0 and the way they age it up for adult Bayonetta is so well done.
The diamond shaped decorations on the front of each hip serves as buttons and the knot in the back can be pulled off, then the lower part can be push down like leggings 💅
As a nerd who gets compliments on their fashion sense, when I'm literally just taking inspo from Anime/Manga/JRPGs/etc., finding this channel feels like vindication!!! AND you decided to talk about Bayonetta, one of THE most fashionable video game characters!!! Loved hearing your insight 💙
As far as the bayonetta 3 defauly costume goes, my only change personally would be to actually open up the ends of her braids. The floral accessories at the ends look nice but I think just letting the hair on its own would add to the silhouette
Always love these vids! I've never been a very fashion conscious person, but your videos are so well explained and fun they're bringing me around to fashion design. Keep up the good work!
I've said this in your comments before, but im so glad these character designers are getting the read they DESERVE for their gorgeous, fashion-forward designs. Just because a model isn't wearing them, doesn't mean that the outfits are not *S T U N N I N G*
Again, another grand slam, your content just magnetizes me and I could almost hardly care about fashion lmfao, course I don't leave the house without thinking about what I wear but not nearly with as much descriptiveness and attention to detail as you. Keep on posting! I love this shit 👌 Oh but uh personal request, could you consider lowering the volume of your intro a little? for me I have to turn you up when I listen to your videos, and then your intro explodes my ears, not that I don't like it though lol. Buena Suerte 🍀
It’s very nice to meet you just so happen to notice your channel because you were talking about Bayonetta I don’t really see many people interested in games like you like but you are it shows you’re just like everyone else Despite your beautiful looks and banality you’re a kind and awesome person😊
I was surprised how much XDF liked the Peach/Daisy costumes from B2 tbh, I always found the skirt to be to frilled out, which I understand is because it's an action game and her legs need to be seen and have room to move but I feel like they could have at least gone the route of Dress A/B where they just put slits in the dress. Basically I just wanted Bayo to be in full Peach/Daisy cosplay XD Would love to see analysis of other video game outfits.
I been waiting for this video!!!! I hope in the future maybe you can take a look at some of the concept art for bayo and maybe jeanne too! I'm in love with her fashion taste
XDF I looooveeee your videos so so much!! As a fan of anime and video games and also fashion I'm just so happy listening your comments and analyze of each outfits!! Been binge watching your videos since I missed some of it! And I really love it. Just a weird recommendation for me tho, maybe you can do a video for villains costume and look in power rangers (especially Japanese tokusatsu & power rangers) as they look very camp-y and interesting (at least for me) and villains in other animes or video games, maybe like Sailor Moon?
Haha im not a fashion man. This video was just suggested and i was curious. But i did enjoy your video. Her fun sexy attitude made me love the game but you kind of open my eyes to another huge point of her character that i failed to paid attention too, and feel gives me more to appreciate with her character.
I saw you respond to a comment recommending Touhou, and I’ll vouch for it. BUT! I have another suggestion- Library of Ruina and Limbus Company, which take place in the same universe. There’s not much for fan service, but for the dark, grungy, industrial setting, there’s some REALLY cool outfits there.
The biggest compliment someone has ever told me was that one time a friend told me I looked like Bayonetta from the first game 😎 now I look like Polpo from Jojo, of course, but c'est la vie 🤣
I'd love it if you did a review for Uma Musume whether you watched it or not, the Idol Fashion mixed with Horse Racing are really something to take a gander on! Great review as always!
I loved your analysis on this and can’t wait to see more. Funnily enough the last one was my favorite of the bunch, but I understand how it just doesn’t work in all the colors. Definitely check out more of the other outfits for her and concept art for alternative versions because they have some interesting changes and ideas not just for Bayo but for other characters as well. If possible I’d like to see your thoughts on some of the outfits for Link from Botw and Totk since there are a few that look really neat. Cant wait to see more content.
This is everything! So much style knowledge, so much designer knowledge. Actual thoughtful critique. You are my new fave! Genshin style analysis please 🙏🏾
tbh in defence of the Super Mirror B4 outfit, while equipping the weapon from that chapter it gains a top hat and cape that are basically tailor made to complement that particular outfit so, while it's true that it's not the best, I feel like with the "accessories" there is a serious improvement
Unrelated to best girl, fashion queen Cereza but (I just found your channel) I was wondering if you've ever looked into Monster Hunter fashion? It's mostly armor plates but some of the sets are super stylish AND since each one has 5 swappable pieces (head, chest, arms, waist and legs) the fans have come up with really original ways to combine them. We call it "Fashion Hunting"
I love the video! But I think the examples you used for the first game were a bit misleading, her hair isn't always flowy like that it's usually in this cone shaped beehive. It only becomes flowy when she gets "serious" Another cool thing about bayonetta is that her base outfits in all three games is made from her hair.
Thanks for watching! :) Most of the Bayo 1 costumes did feature her honeycomb bun hair, but yeah, can understand dont have that. And yes, so interesting how her composes her outfits - such a unique character design element.
Seeing these costumes, the schoolgirl one especially, is really interesting. She's sexy but very suave and mature. The designs don't feel as exploitatively sexualized as the presentation of other characters in my opinion. I don't really know what makes me feel that way, probably just how she serves confidence and power like mad, but it's not like my opinion on this matters as a non-woman lol.
Sewper entertaining and highly professional. Your content is mad dope and I’m excited to see what’s to come and follow the journey. Shit I started mine too lol. I’ll see you at the top⚡️
Although the Bayonetta 1 is so pixelized I can hardly see her in some frames the animation of the hair is always giving and of course she represents for the girls and the theys who wear glasses
Heyo, just discovered ur channel and I have to ask: what do you call that article(s?) of clothing that occupy your torso and arms? Literally all I know is tshirt, long sleeve, turtleneck, sweater, hoodie, and tank top
Lol - it's two pieces. Sleeves + a onesie. And then the thing on my shoulder is called a shoulder pad - both fairly unique pieces that you can't find everywhere
I'd love to have you take a look at some skins from Overwatch. Say what you want about Blizzard, but the people responsible for the skins are really really good at their job
I fucking love this video!!, I really like Bayonetta, but first go first, your outfit looks very cool, I like the jacket, all that slices in the clothes looks so good. Also, the classical belt is the cherry on the cake. Amazing. For me, Bayonetta is one of the most interesting female characters in video games. At first look, the game looks sexist, but when you understand the love they put into her design, story, and development is totally the opposite, she is an empowered female and part of the message is in her outfits. My favorite is the default outfit of Bayonetta 2, she looks powerful, dramatic, and like a milf(don't get me wrong with this, she is a beautiful woman, but in Japan is so common to create characters like teenagers over-sexualized, that this impressed me a lot, I am just saying that she looks like a hot adult woman). But the most detailed outfits are in part 3, OMG, the alternative Bayonettas looks so cool. To me, the best is the Feudal Japanese style. I really like the gold, the metallic things in her clothes, very stylized and fashionable. For me, Bayonetta is drama. Very good video, I love it
Thanks for always providing such thoughtful comments. I can definitely agree with your observations on her designs - I understand where you're coming from. 👍🏽
Feel like Bayo 3's B4 outfit really suffers from the Hat and cape being part of the associated weapon so you you don't really get the full look without them (or variants of the full look)
The reason why you probably disliked the B4 Skin in 3, is actually bcs it’s ‘incomplete’-the way it’s normally depicted is with the Weapon ‘Abracadabra’, which literally TRANSFORMS the look, from something generically done up, to a dramatic and flamboyant, jester like design.
