This was the very 1st Baywatch theme i heard before the more popular Im Always Here by Jimi Jamison... i love both versions really.... my childhood..... late 80s and early 90s were the best era for me.... if i can go back in time i will go and stick on there forever....
Now that you mention it, I can definitely tell it's Bonnie on backing vocals (instead of Siedah Garrett, who handles backing vocals on the rest of the "One More Story" album). And Bonnie always plays a mean slide guitar, so it's no wonder the one in this song sounds so good. The song just wouldn't be the same without her contributions.
SAVE ME was just so perfect for the Baywatch theme song. What a shame they had to replace it. SAVE ME will ALWAYS be my FAVORITE theme song for BAYWATCH !!!
Baywatch caught the tail end of the 80’s so Save Me was perfect for it at the beginning but in the 90’s it’d have sounded a little stale...I’m Always Here was the perfect replacement...personally I think they’re both awesome feel good tunes
I almost thought I had imagined this song and original theme tune for the earlier seasons of Baywatch. Everyone knows and loves the "I'll Be Ready," song that went with the most recent seasons but this is the tune I remember from those early days in the 90's watching everyones favourite beach based lifeguard drama.
After NBC cancelled the series the producers had to save money where ever they could. So they exchanged the song by Peter Cetera for which they had to pay royalties to "I'm always here" by Jimi Jamison produced by themselves.

It happened the same to me, I thought for a long time that I had imagined this song...
La primera temporada de baywatch fue sensacional. Parker Stevenson y John Allen Nelson tenian mucha química. Después todo fue a peor. El tema “save me” es impresionante.
No, the world knows that second theme Jimi Jamison's I'm Always Here is better, there's a reason everybody hears the intro of Jimi's track and people instantly are reminded of Baywatch.
jody024 Anyone that watched the original TV movie and the first season knows this is the theme that was used when Baywatch started. Guess it's just a matter of when people were exposed to the show and what theme was playing. I prefer this one.
Not a Baywatch fan, but I am a fan of this theme. Yes, this was the original theme song in the first year. IMO, this is much better than the later one.
Everytime I go to albania by the sea always when I jugg on the beach I listen to this song and I see myself like them running and swiming I miss baywatch I miss you a lot
This must be the extended version of the Baywatch intro titles, because there's no way the opening titles were this long on a saturday evening in the 1990s. Mind you given the pretty people onscreen, why wouldn't you. 😁😉😃
Four minutes introduction for a 45 minutes show? Of course not. The original intro (of the first season) lasted about 90 seconds and you can recognize it by the font which had been dark to light orange and underlined. Most of the scenes during the first 90 seconds are taken of the pilot's and the first season's intro. The intros with Jimi Jamison's "I'm always here" were about 2 minutes long.
Great moments on TV... A very healthy series that promoted exercise and body care with allusions to bulimia and anorexia. All this above those women who are a drug! The old story of the good guys against the bad guys but mainly about fighting against the elements of nature and doom to save lives and survive. I'm still in love with Nicole Eggert...

She left the show during the first season ("Shark Derby") because after NBC forced the departure of Peter Phelps (Trevor Cole) in favor of John Allen Nelson (John D. Cort) her role became much smaller.
Excellent editing, sound and pictures alike. The music does fit, especially the way you've put it together. But it's just not what we're used to hearing, with the hard-driving urgency of "I'm Always Here." This sounds more like a good-timey party song. Using this song on the end credits, however, might have been a good compromise . . .
When NBC aired Season 1, it had Save Me as the theme song. After NBC cancelled it and it went into syndication, they replaced it with I'll Be Ready. For later syndication runs and home releases, for some reason they replaced the Season 1 opening with I'll Be Ready and updated titles.

No. This is a video the poster made featuring the full original Season 1 song, along with many clips from various later Baywatch intros. (Here's the original intro: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jtmwu4ejeYE.html)

Jimi Jamison's "I'm Always Here" is A LOT BETTER... It is timeless. This one sounds like music stuck from mid 80s (which is in fact 80s song).. which when you heat it you know it's fromt he 80s.. People who say that this is better are probably OLD People.. No offense.. But that's the truth.
