BB Tubes Waves Review | SPLmixing.com
I’ve never heard anything like this. This is analog tube saturation at its finest. Magma BB Tubes produce a delicate to aggressive analog distortion character and make your mixes sound expensive. If you are chasing that analog vibe, then I say look no further than this Beauty & Beast all-in-one.

I miss your mixing videos! Learned a lot from you!

I've been super busy putting a course together. It's basically a replacement for attending a college run course, but with a focus on learning everything about mixing, from the very basics to some advanced concepts, techniques and mindsets. I teach acoustic treatment, fundamentals, all the way through to session management and live mixing walkthroughs.

@@SPLMixing Because of you I add harmonics and pitch effects to almost everything and it almost always sounds better.

Hmmm, yeah, not a fan tbh. I find him irritating and just negative overall. Anyone can look at plugin doctor and match settings from other plugins. I did it myself with the Clariphonic EQ and waves studio rack. Paul tends to focus too heavily on the technical aspects and overlooks the creative. The thing you can't replicate is the dynamic behaviour of when you change the plugin settings. BB Tubes isn't a static EQ when you analyse the curves as you dial it up. The shelving themselves are static, however. I actually disagree that the saturation is too subtle, I love the larger sweet spot. It's far easier to dial in than say Decapitator or even Blackbox. As for the oversampling, something that I have noticed with some plugins is you have to incrementally increase from x2 to x4 to x8 or things don't work as they should. I wonder if this is the case here It happens with DDMF Metaplugin all the time. If it is the case that Waves stuffed something up, there's always DDMF Metaplugin as a host, but I'm sure they will fix it. They've had oversampling on some plugins for a while, but this is the first time they made it accessible to the user. One thing Paul didn't mention is that both the input and bass relief are gain compensated. I agree that most demos add tonnes of volume, which is why you see me actively compensating with the output. As a creative plugin, I really love it. For me it replicates enough of the feel of an analog device by not going from zero to max sat in the first few clicks.

I don’t understand what’s the point of enabling oversampling if the project is still rendered at 44.1 khz
@SPLMixing

Enabling oversampling allows the plug-in to accurately calculate the harmonics, before filtering out those that are too high for the sample rate. Without oversampling, the extended upper harmonics bounce back into the audible range of frequencies but not in a musical way. See my video "Can You Really Hear Aliasing?" for more information.

@@SPLMixing Thanks for the answer. I see that you use some Waves plug-ins, but they don't have oversampling. How do you handle aliasing in these plugins? Thank you in advance.

I use DDMF meta plugin to host them as VSTs. It has built-in oversampling options.
