The changes resulted in improved daytime medium wave reception across the UK but big differences in night-time reception across the UK in 1089 and 1053 areas - some areas had stable reception after dark with little fade while other areas were dreadful for night-time fading and interference.
The night time reception of MW R1 was 100% better than for 247m, for example, the Droitwich transmitter power went from just 30kw for 247m to 500kw for 285m, other sites had increased power as well as new sites for previously unserved areas.
@@christopherhulse8385But you'd get severe fading in Yorkshire after dark on 1089 from Moorside Edge transmitter, and quite irritating fadeouts slightly inland from the Lancashire Coast, on both 1053 from Barrow and 1089 from Moorside Edge (a dual frequency fringe area where you picked up both transmitters), while further inland on 1089, the night-time MW reception was more stable with just an occasional deep fade now and again.
