A taste of some of the jingles and DJ's associated with BBC Radio 1 in the 1970's. I was a teenager and loved all of the new sounds that were being played on the radio. Loved Radio Caroline, Radio London and Radio Luxembourg too.
I'm not sure if my upload infringes copyright, but if it does I'll adjust it accordingly. These were the sounds and jingles and DJs associated with growing up in my day. Usually listening to a transistor radio (or trannie) in my bedroom. RIP #annienightingale

Hi Brian Good to see you've dusted off the NAB jingle machine, bringing back memories of the Radio 1 Club and it's visit to Elgin in the early 70s. Used to do a bit of radio stuff myself, but became fed up with it when it went over to computers. Glad I still have my turntables and vinyl. More a 6 Music listened these days than Radio 1.

Hi John, I took a notion to look back at that period of my latter teenage years. A friend of mine was a chef at the BBC in London, and through him, some friends and I got invited to a Top of the Pops recording. Also had a drink at the bar, and a meal in the canteen, where Cliff Richard and other artists were also tucking in. I also had a number of friends who were DJ's (seemed a popular thing at the time). Cheers, Brian PS: I enjoyed the total madness of Kenny Everett with his multi-track recordings, just completely nuts: soundcloud.com/jingles-blog/kenny-everett-jingles?.musicradiocreative.com&A%252F%252Fsoundcloud.com%252Fjingles-blog%252Fkenny-everett-jingles

@@BrianSeaman Top Trump there never came anywhere near TOP, just the OB kit for the Radio 1 Club. My Mum used to work for BT when it was still the Post Office and the were responsible for setting up the lines to run the programme. Emperor Rosko was the DJ who up until the early 2000s was the most famous "Pop2 person" I'd come across. After that met up with Pete Waterman on a few occasions as a friend of mine used to build 0 Gage models for him.

@@johnross9074 I too worked for Post Office Telephones back at the tail end of the 60's. I was in telephone accounts for a couple of years. Way back then, you took your paper bill to pay at the Post Office. I sat with a dozen others processing those payments on a comptometer in the haze of the smoke from dozens of cigarettes hanging in the air! We had races to see how fast we could process the payments.
